Zhasmin will be getting her 2024-25 campaign under way today at the Junior GP in Ankara, Turkey.

The Junior Ladies SP is due to start at 10:30:00 TRT (07:30:00 GMT / 08:30:00 BST / 12:30:00 AQTT / 13:30:00 KGT). So 3 hours from now.

Zhasmin will be the 9th skater to start. So, fourth and antepenultimate skater to go in Group 2 (and antepenultimate skater to go before the resurfacing).

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 11:06:30 TRT (08:06:30 GMT / 09:06:30 BST / 13:06:30 AQTT / 14:06:30 KGT). So 3h 36m from now.

Zhasmin is due to start at 11:31:00 TRT (08:31:00 GMT / 09:31:00 BST / 13:31:00 AQTT / 14:31:00 KGT). So 4h 1m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Zhasmin finished 25th out of 35 in the SP, with a score of 37.67.

The first comment I made about Zhasmin in the competition thread was actually the night before the event started, when I posted this in reply to the music list in the Original Post of that thread:

Just wanted to warn you that the music listed for Zhasmin Shlaga in her ISU Bio may turn out to be the wrong way around.

The song listed as her Short Programme music on her ISU Bio this season is the song that was listed as her Free Skate music on her ISU Bio for the past season and a half.

Of course, it is possible that she is using a modified version of her old FS as her SP this season. We will just have to wait and see.

CaroLiza_fan

Here is what I wrote about her in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

It was probably just the camera angle, but the first time we saw the first of my kids, Zhasmin SHLAGA (KGZ), it looked like she was very close to having her foot hit the head of Inga GURGENIDZE (GEO)!

After she took off her jacket, we saw that Zhasmin was wearing the same dress that she wore for her FS last season. So, maybe her ISU Bio is correct and she is using a modified version of her old FS as her SP this season.

She did a jump, which didn't have the best landing. But the next jump she did was very nice.

And that was all the elements that the cameras showed her doing.

CaroLiza_fan

Unfortunately, a member who likes to stir things up picked up on the incident with Gurgenidze, and tried to turn it into this big controversy, saying that Zhasmin did it deliberately. Fortunately, nobody else was having any of it. I won't quote any of the discussion here, as this is a Fan Fest, and I don't want the positive atmosphere to be dragged down by one member and their conspiracy theories.

Anyway, here is what I wrote when Zhasmin was being introduced:

First of my kids to skate today! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Now this is going to be fascinating to watch, seeing how her FS from last season has translated into being her SP this season.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Lovely Double Axel to start off with.

First part of combo didn't go well, so she wasn't able to attach the second jump.

She seemed a bit lost after the combination spin.

Next jump Double Flip fine.

Nice step sequence. And the fly camel spin afterwards not bad either.

Honestly, much as I loved her programmes last season, I don't think modifying a Free Skate to become a Short Programme works. It creates the potential to get confused. Your body and brain have got used to doing certain things to the music, and now they are doing different things to the same music. And I think that played a part here.

She goes into 8th position.

She is very disappointed.

:ghug:

CaroLiza_fan

Because she was sandwiched between two Japanese skaters in the starting order, there wasn't actually much discussion about Zhasmin's programme. Most of the conversation was about whether her dress qualified for the WTF Awards (which is ironic, as it was the same dress she wore for her FS last season! So, why wasn't it picked up on then?) And about how much her Mum looks like Eteri Tutberidze.

However, our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19, did comment this:

Zhasmin. Interesting dress and program. Good spins.

Zhasmin is currently 1.43 points behind 24th position, Zala GRUM (SVN), and 0.14 points ahead of 26th position, Sena Lidya BAYRAKTAROĞLU (TUR). Zhasmin is at the head of a group of 6 skaters covered by 2.43 points, stretching down to Weronika FERLIN (POL) in 30th position.

2.32 points ahead of Zala Grum is Alice SMITH (GBR) in 23rd position, 3.75 points ahead of Zhasmin. She is at the bottom of a group where 10 skaters are covered by 5.69 points, stretching up to Elizabeth NOU (EST) in 14th position, 9.44 points ahead of Zhasmin.

If Zhasmin has a good Free Skate and manages to infiltrate the larger group, there is the potential for her to move considerably up the order. However, she has to be careful, because being at the head of another close group means there is also the potential to slip positions if things don't go her way.

So, let's hope she does have a good Free Skate and can move up the order.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start at 16:35:00 TRT (13:35:00 GMT / 14:35:00 BST / 18:35:00 AQTT / 19:35:00 KGT). So 8 hours from now.

Zhasmin will be the 11th skater to start. So, sixth and final skater to go in Group 2 (and final skater to before the first resurfacing).

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 17:16:30 TRT (14:16:30 GMT / 15:16:30 BST / 19:16:30 AQTT / 20:16:30 KGT). So 8h 41m from now.

Zhasmin is due to start at 17:58:00 TRT (14:58:00 GMT / 15:58:00 BST / 19:58:00 AQTT / 20:58:00 KGT). So 9h 23m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

Zhasmin finished 26th out of 35 in the FS, with a score of 71.18. This meant that she dropped to 27th position overall, with a score of 108.85.

Here is what I wrote about her in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Formula 1 practices have just finished for the day, so popping in to see my kid Zhasmin Shlaga do her Warm-Up, before I start playing catch-up on the MotoGP practice, and then returning to watch her programme.

She is wearing a dress where the top half is black lace, and the bottom half is solid red.

Zhasmin crept into camera shot a few times early on in the Warm-Up, but we didn't see her do any elements.

When the camera finally focussed in on her, she immediately went over to the boards to talk to Mum!

Then she did a lovely jump. And then a series of lvoely spins. And then back over to Mum.

She then went back out and was jsut setting up a jump when we changed to look at somebody else.

And that was the last we saw of her.

Looking forward to seeing her programme to Greek music.

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Hang on Ted! Zhasmin still has to skate! :drama:

The music is very echoey. Not sure if it is meant to be like that, or if it is the arena, or if it is the stream.

Lovely Triple Salchow Double Toe to start with.

Double Toe on it's own was good too.

Just about landed the Double Loop.

But Triple Salchow was great!

Change Foot Combination Spin good.

Not a great landing on the Triple Toe.

Double Axel was great, though.

Popped next jump. Or was that part of the choreo sequence?

Double Lutz OK.

Still doing final spins after the music finished. So will probably get a time violation.

Ted telling a nice story about chatting with Zhasmin.

Awww, she is so cute doing the hand signals.

Oh, two points in deductions. Finishing late would be one of them, but I wonder what the other one was for.

She goes into 3rd in both the FS and overall.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Zhasmin finished the Free Skate 0.80 points behind 25th position, Lena EKKER (HUN), and 0.24 points ahead of 27th position, Amanda GHEZZO (ITA). All three of them are part of a group where 6 skaters are covered by 2.76 points, stretching from Deniz TARIM (TUR) in 23rd position, 2.38 points ahead of Zhasmin, down to Ana ŠĆEPANOVIĆ (SRB) in 28th position, 0.38 points behind Zhasmin.

Overall, Zhasmin finished 2.72 points behind 26th position, Zala GRUM (SVN), and 0.93 points ahead of 28th position, Šćepanović.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

After all the drama that we have had on here over the past couple of weeks, it is time for Zhasmin to have her second Junior GP appearance, this time in Wuxi, China.

The Junior Ladies SP is due to start at 14:30:00 CST (06:30:00 GMT / 07:30:00 BST / 11:30:00 AQTT / 12:30:00 KGT). So 2 hours from now.

Zhasmin will be the 33rd skater to start. So, fifth and penultimate skater to go in Group 6 (and penultimate skater to go in the segment).

The Group 6 Warm-Up is due to start at 18:22:45 CST (10:22:45 GMT / 11:22:45 BST / 15:22:45 AQTT / 16:22:45 KGT). So 5h 52m from now.

Zhasmin is due to start at 18:54:30 CST (10:54:30 GMT / 11:54:30 BST / 15:54:30 AQTT / 16:54:30 KGT). So 6h 24m from now.

Zhasmin finished 23rd out of 34 in the SP, with a score of 37.61.

Here is what I wrote about her in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Mmmm. Zhasmin is one of the few skaters not wearing a jacket over her dress for the Introductions. I like that. Means the audience gets used to what the skater will look like during the programme in advance.

First time we saw her during the Warm-Up, she was lining up a jump in the background, and two skaters started closing the space in front of her. But, she got through and started taking off just as she went out of camera shot.

Next time we saw her the camera was focussing on her. And she did a lovely jump.

They focussed on her again towards the end of the Warm-Up. And we saw two really good spins.

Hope this is a sign of how things will go in the programme. But, she has to wait a while before that happens.

CaroLiza_fan

Here is what I wrote when Zhasmin was being introduced:

Hope my girl gets an early birthday present now!

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Lovely story Ted told about Zhasmin. I take it he has seen the comments and wanted to let everybody know just how nice she is.

Fall on first jump, so didn't get the second part attached.

Fall on next jump too, the Triple Flip.

Choreographic sequence good.

Thankfully the Double Azel went well.

And so did the rest of the programme.

Cartwheel when doing her bows!

How can you not love this girl?!

Lots of cuddly toys! 🧸

Well, it seems that Zhasmin and her team have realised that re-working her old FS into an SP didn't work, because she's got a new programme this time. It may not be my taste of music, but it seems to work.

She just needs time to really get used to it.

Mum sitting with her.

She goes into 22nd position.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

German member @DemTuppesSeine, who has a connection to Kyrgyzstan, commented this when she was being introduced before her programme:

Go Zhasmin! :hap10:

And then commented this after she had finished:

Bow, cartwheel, bow

To which @TallyT replied:

I'm not a fan of cartwheels within the program, but that showed spirit and was good to see after a disappointing skate. Good girl!

Italian member @bartlebooth also picked up on the cartwheel, saying:

Extra cartwheel!

And our bastion of positivity @Jeanie19 commented this about Zhasmin's programme:

Zhasmin. Great dress that goes with the program. Good skate.. And a great cartwheel.

Talk about consistency. Zhasmin's score in the SP in Wuxi is just 0.06 points lower than her score in the SP in Ankara a couple of weeks ago. Even though it is a different programme!

Zhasmin is currently 1.44 points behind 22nd position, Vianna Shen-Rou LINKE (SGP), and 4.33 points ahead of 24th position, Hayden Isabel BALUCATING (PHL). Zhasmin is at the bottom of a group of 7 skaters covered by 5.39 points, stretching up to Sofiya FARAFONOVA (KAZ) in 17th position.

Zhasmin is in a very good position here. If she has a good Free Skate, there is the potential for Zhasmin to climb a LOT of positions. On top of that, she has a decent sized buffer behind her.

I am very excited for the Free Skate. I hope she has a good one!

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start at 15:30:00 CST (07:30:00 GMT / 08:30:00 BST / 12:30:00 AQTT / 13:30:00 KGT). So 2 hours from now.

Zhasmin will be the 12th skater to start. So, second skater to go in Group 3 (and second skater to go after the first resurfacing).

The Group 3 Warm-Up is due to start at 17:10:30 CST (09:10:30 GMT / 10:10:30 BST / 14:10:30 AQTT / 15:10:30 KGT). So 4h 40m from now.

Zhasmin is due to start at 17:25:15 CST (09:25:15 GMT / 10:25:15 BST / 14:25:15 AQTT / 15:25:15 KGT). So 4h 55m from now.

Zhasmin finished 18th out of 34 in the FS, with a score of 84.11. This meant that she climbed to 18th position overall, with a score of 121.72.

Here is what I wrote about her in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

The red skirt part of Zhasmin's dress looked really impressive when the introductions were being done. Especially when she did a spin in the background when the later skaters were being introduced.

When the camera started focussing on her, she did a nice non-element type jump while skating parallel to the boards. Then she came into the ice and lined up an element jump. And as she was doing the jump, PJ Kwong introduced her, and I think it distracted her, and she didn't have the best of landings. (It wasn't the worst either, though).

Next time the camera focussed on her, she was lining a jump, but she was way off axis in the air, and fell. The camera then moved to another skater, and exactly the same thing happened to her while Zhasmin was going past in the background.

In the next shot, the camera was focussed on another skater, but we saw bits of a nice combination spin by Zhasmin in the foreground.

Hope it goes well for her come her programme.

CaroLiza_fan

The skater on before Zhasmin was skating to a version of the Rolling Stones song "Paint It, Black", and I posted a link to this photo:

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c8/cf/1d/c8cf1db76d2906472acfcfe82664088e.jpg

And then when Zhasmin was being introduced, I commented:

Actually, seeing that picture I have just posted makes me realise that Zhasmin's dress would fit a "Paint It, Black" programme.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

Thank you for all the information about Zhasmin's team, Mark.

Think I might have missed the first element.

Was there supposed to be a combination on the end of that jump? It looked to me like there should have been, but I'm not sure.

Sequence of jumps good.

Good landing on the next jump.

Combination jump good.

So was the combination spin.

Next jump looked like it was going to go too far, but she reined it in.

Was that a pop, or was it just a wee choreographic jump? Ah, good. It was part of the Choreographic Sequence.

Flying Sit Spin and Layback Spin good.

Finishes (intentionally) on the ice.

She is absolutely delighted!!! Punches the air when she is finished.

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

A great early birthday present for us.

Ted and Mark full of praise for her.

She goes into a MASSIVE lead in both FS and overall. By 21.10 points in the FS, and by 26.25 points overall.

Awwww. Mother and daughter jumping up and down on the sofa when the scores were announced!!!

So proud of her!

What a note to leave you on.

German member @DemTuppesSeine, who has a connection to Kyrgyzstan, commented this when she was being introduced before her programme:

Go Zhasmin!

And then commented this afterwards:

Ooooh she's happy :)

My Australian friend @anonymoose_au commented:

Hey didn't Alina Z skate to this music in a similar dress? Maybe Zhasmin is a fan?

Right enough, Zagitova did use this music, "Me Voy" by Yasmin Levy, as her Short Programme in the 2019-20 Season. But, Alina's dress was all black.

@Jumping_Bean was doing Play-By-Plays, and here is their post for Zhasmin:

Zhasmin's best Free Skate in competition ever, she was focused from start to end. Congrats  And a celebratory cartwheel. 🤣

Actually, it wasn't. She scored 90.01 points for her Free Skate at the 2022 Bosphorus Cup.

Zhasmin finished the Free Skate 2.53 points behind 17th position, Elena AGOSTINELLI (ITA), and 2.58 points ahead of 18th position, Minja PELTONEN (FIN).

Overall, Zhasmin finished 10.07 points behind 17th position, Agostinelli, and 0.19 points ahead of 19th position, Peltonen.

I am so happy for Zhasmin. She finished the Short Programme at the bottom of a group of 7 skaters, and because she had such a great Free Skate, she was able to jump ahead of all of them with the exception of Olivia LENGYELOVA (SVK), who also climbed up the order due to a great Free Skate.

It was so good to see how happy Zhasmin and her Mum were.

Zhasmin finished 48th out of 48 in the SP, with a score of 35.07.

Here is what I wrote about her in the competition thread during the Warm-Up:

Awwww. Zhasmin was the first skater we saw before they went out onto the ice.

Bit disappointed that the skaters are not getting presented to the audience.

When the camera started focussing on Zhasmin, she did a beautiful jump. Then she circled around and did another beautiful jump.

Ach, she was just lining up another jump when the camera cut away to show the next to skate, Alice SMITH (GBR).

Zhasmin crept into shot a few times when other skaters were being focussed on. But, we didn't see her doing anything.

Towards the end of the Warm-Up, we saw a shot of Zhasmin having to go the long way around another skater.

Right, first skater starting now, and then it's Zhasmin's turn.

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:

Now for the first of my kids. (Who I share a birthday with).

:cheer: ALL THE BEST ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

And here is what I wrote about her programme:

OK. She's changed her programme. Music isn't my taste.

Fall on first jump. Too fast into it.

And fall on second jump, Triple Flip, too

Combination spin good.

Double Axel was good.

Step Sequence good. And the Flying Camel Spin straight afterwards.

And she finishes with a Sit Spin into a cartwheel. 🤸‍♀️

Ted likes her.

I think that's her Mum sitting with her.

She goes into 2nd position. Which was expected, given the falls.

But she's philosophical about it.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

The skater before her was wearing a costume that is rather different to what we normally see. And the first two comments about Zhasmin were connecting the two costumes. First up was from my good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue:

from a nominee to another

And the next from one of our members in Poland, @cocteautwin:

Another program out of the box with some crazy costume. I like it! Pity about the jumps .

And here is another comment that mentions Zhasmin's costume, courtesy of one of our members in Australia, @TallyT:

Costume is pretty... unique: I like it, again it works for the music  and I think for her style.

And taking us full circle, the final comment also came from @elektra blue:

the score box matches perfectly her dress. + 10

Looking at the Protocols, it will come as no surprise that the first two elements were the most costly. The opening Triple Toe was supposed to have another jump attached onto the end of it, but because she fell, it didn't. It got the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.10; and -5 from all nine Judges. As well as falling on it, the second element, the Triple Flip, was downgraded. It got thesecond biggest hit of the programme, at -0.90; and -5 from all nine Judges.

The rest of the programme actually went quite well. But, it was those two opening elements that were the reason that she finished last.

It is interesting when you compare the Protocols for Zhasmin and the skater that finished directly ahead of her, Elizabeth NÕU (EST). Zhasmin's TES was about the same as Elizabeth's PCS; and Zhasmin's PCS was about the same as Elizabeth's TES. The bulk of the difference was the 2 points that Zhasmin got deducted for falling twice.

Zhasmin is currently 2.78 points behind 47th position, Elizabeth NÕU (EST), and 3.55 points behind 46th position, Phattaratida KANESHIGE (THA). Zhasmin is at the bottom of a group of 4 skaters covered by 4.54 points, stretching up to Weronika FERLIN (POL) in 45th position.

Unfortunately, Junior Worlds has a cut off where only 24 Ladies Singles skaters go through to the Free Skate segment. Zhasmin was 18.37 points behind the last skater to qualify, Kira BARANOVSKA (LAT).

But, she took it in her stride.

I was so good to see her again after so long. And I can't wait to the next time we see her.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

Asian Open Trophy Junior Ladies SP: Results; Protocols

No video uploaded yet 😞

Zhasmin finished 9th out of 28 in the SP, with a score of 39.43.

Unfortunately, I was not able to watch the Asian Open Trophy.

Looking at the Protocols, although four of the seven elements had minuses beside them, they weren't big minuses. I suppose you could say that the main issue was with the second element, the Triple Toe-Double Toe, which had the biggest GOE hit, at -0.42; and was the only element where all the Judges marks were negative (all five Judges gave -1). But, it had a high Base Value, so with the relatively small negative GOE, it was still the highest scoring element of the programme.

Apart from that element, all the GOE's were in the range -0.16 to +0.17. And apart from a solitary +2, all the Judges marks were in the range -1 to +1. That +2 was given by Judge 1 for the opening element, the Double Axel, along with -1 from Judge 3; 0 from two Judges; and +1 from Judge 2. It was also the element that got the +0.17 GOE, and because it had the second highest Base Value of the programme, it was the second highest scoring element of the programme.

Zhasmin is currently 0.63 points behind 8th position, Renee TSAI (NZL), and 0.77 points behind 10th position, ZHU Yeuk Kwan (HKG). All three of them are part of a group of 9 skaters covered by 5.70 points, stretching from PARK Eunbi (KOR) in 6th position, 2.59 points ahead of Zhasmin, down to Chiranat CHINPRAPAKRON (THA) in 14th position, 3.11 points behind Zhasmin.

With being in a rather large group, this could go either way. With a good Free Skate, she could climb potentially get into the Top 6. However, if she makes mistakes, she could drop significantly.

So, let's hope she has a good Free Skate and climbs.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

The Junior Ladies FS is due to start at 17:26:30 PHST (09:26:30 GMT / 10:26:30 BST / 14:26:30 AQTT / 15:26:30 KGT). So 5 hours from now.

Zhasmin will be the 20th skater to start. So, fourth and antepenultimate skater to go in Group 4 (and fourth skater to go after the second resurfacing).

The Group 4 Warm-Up is due to start at 19:42:00 PHST (11:42:00 GMT / 12:42:00 BST / 16:42:00 AQTT / 17:42:00 KGT). So 7h 16m from now.

Zhasmin finished 5th out of 28 in the FS, with a score of 82.77. This meant that she climbed to 7th position overall, with a score of 122.20.

Looking at the Protocols, there were four elements that had some negative numbers beside them. But only two of those elements had significant issues. The first was the second element, the Triple Loop, which was under-rotated and which she fell on. It had the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.96, as well as -5 from all five Judges. As it already had a relatively low Base Value, it became the lowest scoring element of the programme.

The other element with a major issue was the Triple Toe-Double Axel-Single Axel done in sequence. The Triple Toe was landed on the quarter. It had the second biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -1.54. It got -4 from three Judges, and -3 from two Judges. Nevertheless, because it had by miles the highest Base Value of the programme, it was by miles the highest scoring element of the programme.

The other two elements with negative numbers were much less costly. The Triple Toe on it's own had GOE of -0.42; as well as -2 from Judge 2; -1 from three Judges; and 0 from Judge 1. The Choreographic Sequence had GOE of -0.33; as well as -2 from Judge 2; -1 from two Judges; and 0 from two Judges.

The Double Lutz was completely neutral. But the remaining elements had GOE ranging from +0.14 for two elements (the Triple Salchow-Double Toe; and then the Triple Salchow on it's own); to +0.66 for the opening Double Axel. The Judges marks raned from 0 to +2, with the aforementioned Double Axel getting the best line-up (+1 from Judge 4; and +2 from the remaining four Judges).

I don't know what it was for, but Zhasmin also got a 1 point deduction for a Time Violation. So, that was two points deducted in total.

Zhasmin finished the Free Skate 7.19 points behind 4th position, TONG Ruichen (CHN), and 1.00 points ahead of 6th position, PARK Eunbi (KOR). Zhasmin was at the head of a group of 4 skaters covered by 4.50 points, stretching down to XUE Yun (HKG) in 8th position.

Overall, Zhasmin finished 1.59 points behind 6th position, Park, and 3.96 points ahead of 8th position, Valeriya ZORKINA (KAZ). Zhasmin was at the bottom of a group of 3 skaters covered by 2.39 points, which was headed by Xue.

See, I told you she could move up!

Oh, it is such a pity about the Time Violation, because without doubt it cost her 6th position overall. But, this is why it is a good idea for skaters to do competitions at this time of year - to test their programmes out on the Judges and Technical officials. To find out what works and what doesn't, and to iron out issues, before you get to the Junior GP Series.

But, the scores are encouraging. Zhasmin achieved her highest international SP score since the 2024 Junior World Championships; her highest international FS score since the 2022 Bosphorus Cup; and her highest international overall score since the 2023 Bosphorus Cup.

When she irons out the issues, this bodes well for the season ahead.

Looking forward to whenever it is that she is back in action.

Zhasmin finished 16th out of 35 in the SP, with a score of 47.51.

Here is what I wrote about the Warm-Up in the competition thread:

My good friend in Sicily, @elektra blue, had made a comment about the skater that was on two before Zhasmin, Sama JERAQ (KUW). So, I took the opportunity to reply to it when Zhasmin was being introduced:

To which she replied:

And I answered:

Anyway, here is what I wrote about the programme:

There weren't actually many comments about Zhasmin. The first was from @Vemvane, who went quite in depth:

And the second was from @Isk:

Although the comment was not specifically about Zhasmin, Polish member @Karoltyna made a significant observation:

Zhasmin is currently 2.27 points behind 8th position, Jana HOŘČIČKOVÁ (CZE), and and level on points with 9th position, Jiaying Ellyse JOHNSON (USA). Zhasmin and Jiaying were 0.09 points ahead of 10th position, Hannah KIM (USA). Zhasmin is at the head of a group of 6 skaters covered by 2.84 points, stretching down to Maisa UUTELA (FIN) in 21st position.

Within this group, Zhasmin is at the head of a group of 4 skaters covered by 0.43 points, stretching down to Weronika FERLIN (POL) in 19th position.

This is a very tight competition. Although the gap to the skater directly ahead of her is more than the 2 points that I use to define groups, the skater in 10th position, Sofia NEKRASSOVA (EST), is only 4.65 points ahead of Zhasmin. So, if Zhasmin has a good Free Skate, there is the potential for her to make it into the Top 10.

So let's hope she does!

Zhasmin finished 18th out of 34 in the FS, with a score of 88.74. This meant that she remained in 16th position overall, with a score of 136.25.

Unfortunately I was an idiot, forgetting that Zhasmin was in action in Baku, and so I switched over to the Nebelhorn Trophy to watch the Senior Men's FS. And only realising when I accidentally opened the wrong window and saw that she was leading.

So here is the sort of comment I would have written about the Warm-Up if I had been watching LIVE:

Ooooh. Looks like Zhasmin's dress matches the colour of her red jacket.

Not long into the Warm-Up, we saw her taking off her jacket at the edge of a shot, and then coming back into shot without it on. The shoulders, arms and back of her dress are black. The front and the whole of the skirt part are red. And the more I think of it, the more I think I've seen her wear this dress before.

Later on, we saw Zhasmin falling onto the ice in the background of a shot when another skater was being focussed on.

A couple of shots later, when focussing on a different skater, we saw her in the background at the boards talking to her coach. Shortly afterwards, we saw her in the background heading back out into the ice. Then, when we were watching the same skater doing an element, we saw Zhasmin at the edge of the shot taking off on a jump. And when the camera turned, we saw her picking herself up off the ice.

Finally! The camera is focussing on Zhasmin! She circled around, and did a sequence of three jumps. Not very big, but they were executed correctly. She then circled around and did a beautiful jump on it's own. And she was just starting to do a spin when the camera left her. We saw bits of it in the background while following another skater.

And then the Warm-Up finished.

Although we didn't see them, we know that she had a couple of falls. But at least the jumps we saw properly were clean.

CaroLiza_fan

And here is the sort of comment I would have written about her programme if I had been watching LIVE:

Yep, She's kept the FS

Beautiful Triple Loop to start with

And beautiful combination to follow

Not a great landing on Triple Flip

Triple Salchow better

Sequence of jumps good too

Combo Spinn beautiful

Double Lutz effortless

Maybe a bit too diagonal on Double Toe

Flying Sit Spin beautiful.

And Layback spin beautiful too. Strange exit and finishing position.

She bows to one side of the audience, and then cartwheels into position to bow to the other side! 🤸

Zhasmin was so cute when getting the flag out.

She goes into 3rd position in the FS, and the lead overall

Applause and kiss from Mum.

Zhasmin makes a heart with her hands in front of her face in a very sultry fashion, and then blows a kiss and waves.

Mum lifts the flag and holds it up.

:cheer: WELL DONE ZHASMIN!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

Because the Senior Men's FS at the Nebelhorn Trophy was on at the same time, there were only three members commenting on the Junior Ladies in Baku. The first comment about Zhasmin came from our bastion of positivity, @Jeanie19:

The second came from my fellow British member, @FlossieH:

Quirkiness? Would I like a skater that was quirky? Er... YES!

Some constructive criticism came from Czech member @flanker:

He's probably right about the experience. We don't get to see Zhasmin competing on the international scene that often. If she got out more, it would probably help move her skating forward considerably.

But the final word came from @FlossieH, who returned to say:

Zhasmin finished the Free Skate 1.60 points behind 17th position, Karina SHEINA (KAZ), and 1.98 points ahead of 19th position, Maisa UUTELA (FIN). It's probably a push to call it a "group" because the gaps between each of the 5 skaters were only just less than 2 points, but I have my guidelines. So, the three of them are at the bottom of a group where 5 skaters are covered by 7.29 points, stretching up to Gabrielė JUŠKAITĖ (LTU) in 18th position.

Overall, Zhasmin finished 8.02 points behind 15th position, Sofia NEKRASSOVA (EST), and 3.18 points ahead of 17th position, Juškaitė.

The Free Skate didn't go as well as the Short Programme for Zhasmin. But the way things worked out meant that she didn't actually lose any positions as a result, instead remaining where she was.

Hopefully things will be smoother for her when we see her again at the last of the regular Junior GP's in Abu Dhabi in 2 weeks time.

Well, that is a quick turnaround. After competing in the Junior Grand Prix in Azerbaijan a few days ago, Zhasmin is competing in the Denis Ten Memorial Challenge today in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The Junior Ladies SP is due to start at 13:00:00 AQTT (08:00:00 GMT / 09:00:00 BST / 14:00:00 KGT). So 4 hours from now.

Zhasmin will be the 9th skater to start. So, fourth and penultimate skater to go in Group 2 (and penultimate skater to go before the resurfacing).

The Group 2 Warm-Up is due to start at 13:39:00 AQTT (08:39:00 GMT / 09:39:00 BST / 14:39:00 KGT). So 4h 39m from now.

Zhasmin is due to start at 14:05:00 AQTT (09:05:00 GMT / 10:05:00 BST / 15:05:00 KGT). So 5h 5m from now.

But, those times may change if somebody that is due on before her withdraws.

I have been watching Zhasmin on the JGP for a few years now, so it is my opinion that she did well at Baku. I like her short program, and I think her jumps were the best that I've seen her do. I think she deserved a few more points for that skate, but the scoring seemed pretty harsh in Baku.
