Tbh that's true for almost every competition wrt Yuzuru. He always potentially breaks 300, given his PCS and TES on well-done elements. It's just... he doesn't skate cleanly...

Next season will hopefully be better. And pray no injuries, surgeries, or collisions happen.

Sigh, yes please. Who would have predicted this disaster of a season, especially given how amazing last season was for him. With Chan gone, I had originally thought this season would be a cakewalk for Yuzuru. It hasn't been, but not for the desirable reasons...

I certainly didn't predict it. But it shows that even the top skaters have to fight for points.

INitpicking it's a mistake, so he had to turn 3A3T into 3A2T.
For sure he planned 2 quads, but that 4S is enough for this time.

If he had done a 3A3T with this 3T instead of 4T at the beginning, would it have been invalidated ? With this stupid Zayak rule ?

I agree : it is really surprising that the 2 japanese skaters had the same music for FS this season :confused2:. Fortunately they did not take the same parts of this music and did not perform it the same way.

I am afraid you will not be fulfilled :rolleye:
And I do agree this the suggestion below :agree: :

Takahito Mura did a great program, not clean. But I am still not completely convinced by his technical score higher than Voronov's one.

Jason Brown made a clean beautiful program. I do regret he did not try any quad and had better score than other competitors with taking less risks. But that is the US mentality (that is not my cup of tea...:disapp:)

I'm not from the US but I find this quite offensive

The 3A-3T wouldn't have been invalid if he continued with his planned layout, but his final 3Lz would have been.

As far as I know it wouldn't have Zayaked but I'm not sure

The 3A3T wouldn't have been invalidated. But he would have had 2 triple axels and two triple toes already so he couldn't do a second triple lutz at the end. As the triple lutz is worth more points than the triple toe. He preferred to do double toe after triple axel, to be able to complete two triple lutzs

Thank you! That was so beautiful! Sorry to anyone who may not like this, but his grimace and facial gestures remind me of Yuna Kim! The way they agree with the score, wince, have a cool smile and not overly too boisterous over their scores. Kind of like they are saying "am cool, I know I've got this"! Now let me go look for Jason's video and watch that too!

Well he did express Yuna Kim is one of his fav skaters along with Mao. I kind of appreciate this vail they has the moment they stepped onto the ice. Their performance start from the moment they start at warm up all the way to the end of kiss and cry. Not just during the music and choreography. When people break out of the mood from the program immediately, it can often take me out of the 'zone' to fully appreciate the work. Imagine the song 'you are my sunshine' coming up at the end rolling credit of Schindler's list... it would be rather jarring. (bit like experiencing Jason's FS here)

Thank you all for the clarification :)

As far as I know the ISU doesn't score programs based on reaction after the skate ends. Everyone has a different approach and personally. Jason did his job during the actual skate. If it's not your cup of tea, fine, but it doesn't make him a worse skater because he chooses to loosen up afterwards.

ETA: I realize this is your opinion, but my take is that I don't feel they same way and don't see the point of judging a skater's performance on things that don't involve the actual skate. And especially at something like WTT, where its about having fun with you team anyway...

I agree that's not the most PC opinion. Just curious as you are also not from Russia. Don't you find offensive comments coming after each Kovtun's skate that his scores are just because Russian Fed pays the money?

Before anybody starts getting confused, can I just point out that the way my quote was edited is very misleading. (My original post is here)

The needing water thrown round me remark was referring to Elena Ilinykh's booty shaking in the team area when Sergei Voronov was waiting for his results. It was NOT referring to Sergei himself!

I may like the bloke, but NOT in that way!

Not that it has anything to do with it, of course I would. Until they show rock hard evidence I would not give comments like that the time of day.

ETA Money changing hands is something that could plausibly be proven, but to say that it is the "mentality" of a nation is a bit far-fetched

Those constant comments about "Russian men" always getting gifted high scores are very offensive in my opinion (and plain wrong - the 2 most overscored men this season were certainly not Russian). And I'm American.

I did not intend to be rude. The fact is that US team has very few man skaters able to perform quads. Therefore they concentrate on foosteps, spins (and triple Axel) and choregraphy, to gain maximum points on technical elements that are not jumps. That is what I call "US mentality".
It can provide very beautiful skatings, like Jason Brown's today skating.
But talking about jumps, it is riskless.

I get you - it's just the way you put it made it sound like they're gutless in every single endeavour

Actually it's a huge risk, just a different kind. because you are depending on being clean and getting a high level of execution, which is basically at the mercy of the panel of judges. And just because Jason doesn't have a quad doesn't mesn the stuff he does is easy. If footwork and spins were as easy as you suppose, Jason would actually be left in the dust because he wouldn't have that advantage over other skaters cause they would be able to score well on them as well.

Everyine has different strategies to win and I don't be begrudge those who choose to win by throwing quads. It's just a matter of works on the ice that day.

You could name the same feature the way which will not sound offensive: Americans know how to present (sell) themselves. Isn't it true in general?
