Ye-Lim Kim (12 years old) from Korea finished 2nd at the Korean Winter Games - Elementary School Division. She finished behind 1st place finisher Eun Soo Lim and ahead of 3rd place finisher Young Yoo.

She did a 3Lz-3Lo-2Lo (tano) combination in the 2nd half of her FS, garnering her a total of 14.49 points (14.19 for the Base Value and 0.30 GOE)! :eeking::shocked: Is this the most difficult combination a female lady has ever done in competition? I would like to confirm.

Here is the link to the video (She does the combo at around 3:10). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2nCYSZOJT0

And if you're interested, here are the videos of the other two medalists. The future of Korean ladies' skating is very, very bright!

Based on points, it probably is.

I think the hardest combo for ladies will be a 3-3-3, it's been seen in various practices but the risk is too big for competition. Or a 3A-3-2.

There's no use for a 3-3-3 if you don't have a 3a or quad. If you do a 3-3-3, that leaves only four triples for the other six jumping passes.

Arakawa did the same combo in her 2003 and 2004 World's FSs. It wasn't scored under IJS, so the jumps were ratified as completed. I was at Worlds in 2003 for the ladies FS and she was practicing a 3lz-3t-3lp in the warm up.

Korean ladies right now are young and fearless. I have always really liked Kim Ye-Rim, she strikes me as very determined.

But like Yuna cautioned when Young You won nationals, I hope they stay healthy and injury free. Hopefully this new strength will be sustainable in the future and these ladies will have long careers on the senior circuit as well.

Huh? So soon there is another major competition in South Korean, and the top 3 shifted a little bit. Eun Soo Lim is still currently my fav. I found her very cute:love:

Wow! Those top 3 alone with that kind of jump arsenal--the Korean ladies field (novices) is getting deep.

In general I agree, but I also think that the combo performed by this young girl is definitely more difficult than a 3F+3T+3T for example, since it has two loop jumps after a lutz, one of which a triple. And in terms of what has been performed cleanly in competition I think that yes, this could be the most difficult ever

(And I always like to remember the 3F+3T+3Lo performed by my beloved Carp in practice back 2003 or 2004 :luv17: )

the hardest combo would feature the hardest jump in all logic.... so it would be so far, the 3A-2T (I don't think any woman has done a 3A-3T yet.... maybe 3A-2L has been done by Mao ?? or Ito? )

Thanks for the links.

Just curious -- are there protocols available for this event?

My favorite is also Eun Soo too!! Her smile melts my heart, and her jumps are extremely Yuna-esque.

To my knowledge, Korea usually doesn't broadcast the Korean Winter Games for figure skating, but after Young Yoo hit a home run at Korean Nationals, they decided to this time. It's great that Korea is beginning to take figure skating seriously! :agree:

Regardless of the difficulty of triple -triple combinations, these young talents are wonderful! Eun Soo Lim has the best lines and extensions. Bright futures for all 3!

I've never seen it, but one that would totally drop my jaw is a 3loop/half loop/triple sal/triple toe All these half loop sequences we see now look like they would be so unstable, but people are pulling them off nicely!
