yeah, same here, sister. Can't believe the western sectionals is next week! :eeking:
Lets wish dai is healthy enough and having decent enough trainings to prepare for the competition.
For those who are interested in Benoit Richaud's perspective, TSL did an interview with him where he spoke about Dai, step sequence, music, details on jump progress (before injury) and Dai's current physical condition and his goal
44:28 - 46:40; 55:40 - 1:03:35
I have new found respect and admiration for Benoit's approach to choreographing for the skaters. So glad he reached out to Daisuke!
Good luck next week at the Western Sectionals, Dai! Looking forward to seeing the updated step sequence, where Benoit said there is a dramatic improvement.
Speaking for myself all I wish for him is to be happy and content and to live by his newfound resolution ("I'd like to skate for me, rather than for someone else."). I hope that he allows his body to heal and that he'll trust his experience and his instincts to do what's in his own best interest.
Such an extensive and interesting interview! I'm looking forward to the reworked choreo for PGG though I didn't think it had too many weaknesses before. Besides improving the step and choreo-sequence they were probably looking to make it easier for Dai to get through the jumping passes with his current physical condition in mind. (To think that he was getting there with the quads before his recent injury...what a bummer ) As deedee (and Kensuke) said, it was quite an ambitious layout with a couple of complex transitions. I'm particularly curious where they moved the solo 3F. I loved the former placement with the jump itself serving as a connecting element between the chsq and the final spin. Very demanding indeed and probably too energy-consuming given Dai's current state.
It's a testament to his commitment and his extraordinary gift as a performer that he was able to skate both programs so beautifully at Kinki under those circumstances. Like in the past, whenever he couldn't rely on his tech anymore, he didn't let the performance go and still managed to make it a worthwhile experience for the audience. However I hope he knows that his fans would never expect him to skate while in pain or to push for technical content that could potentially aggravate his injuries. Speaking for myself all I wish for him is to be happy and content and to live by his newfound resolution. ("I'd like to skate for me, rather than for someone else.") I hope that he allows his body to heal and that he'll trust his experience and his instincts to do what's in his own best interest.
Sending him massive positive vibes for Western Sectionals! ❤
Dai-chan, ganbatte!

I got my legs under me after SLC, got to recharge a bit ... [Daisuke Takahashi’s hip hop swan lake] was one of my favorite programs of all time, I tried to channel that ... to express the music and follow that model

On Daisuke Takahashi’s comeback: There’s a small opportunity that I might get to compete with him but I would be so so so excited for it. I’m not going to think that far.
It's a crime for JSF not to send him to an international competition. They should send him at least to a CS depending on the result of Western Sectionals.
