Anyway, sorry to derail.

Russians clearly got Gold and Silver, I don't think anyone can argue it.

S/S or P/T for bronze seems to be only debate. I wonder how much P/T were being held down in order to guarantee Bronze for S/K, and how much did that hurt them vs. S/S?

Even though the corrupt Russian judging has not impacted the Russian placements so far, it could already be impacting other placements.

or better yet, keep the team event but skaters to do team event must be mandatory and based on World rankings who will skate

In that case, Kovtun would have skated instead of Plushenko. ;)

B/L would have also skated instead of S/K. I could think of other examples that turn down this horrible idea to base it on World rankings, but I think that's enough.

Yes I know the old stories of Russians offering caviar and having phone conversations, footsie messages, but I am also 99% certain all the top countries with an even somewhat strong federation do these things as well

When Russians offer caviar, Germans offer Sauerkraut. This was never going to work.

I think they said they plan to compete at Worlds this year and next, then maybe take a break. I think you might see them do something like Yu Na Kim and compete at the 2015 and 2017 Worlds, with almost 2 years off in between.

I think this is a realistic scenario,
do Worlds 2014 then take a year or two break/off

That's the tech specialist's job. It's a travesty that that throw and their throw 3L scored higher than many clean 3S and 3L pair throws. Along with PCS given out like candy, GOE needs a swift crack down.

The tech specialist doesn't award GOE, the judges do. And whilst the technical panel can watch elements in slo-mo, judges can only replay them in real time.

too late for that, I was talking about the coming Team events
if this will continue

some skaters opting to skip team event is just not right
not to mention some unworthy medalists, base it on World rankings who needs a mandatory skate

Yeah. They have NOT said they want to stay for a whole 4 years- only that they do plan to skate next year. She has also said she wants a baby (and not in a 'far far in the future' way by any stretch of the imagination), so I imagine that may work into their plans somehow. She would not be the first pairs skater to come back after a childbirth, but it is rare. (GG did it and won an OGM afterwards though, so it can happen).

You couldnt even see it except in slow motion. If the judges didnt see that, the rest of the throw was worthy of a +3 in GOE in terms of height, control, flow on landing, position in air and on landing, distance. Especialy with the overly inflated GOE and PCS scale they are using for everyone these days.

Four judges gave a more reasonable +1. Apparently those four judges had bionic eyes ;)

So 5 out of 8 judges didn't look at the landing in real-time or just chose to ignore it. :rolleye:

Also saying everyone is on a level +1 higher at the Olympics is ridiculous. +3 should be for a clean element. No ifs ands or buts.

Haha, I thought Worlds this year would be an exciting battle between youngsters (and one old man too old for his partner). Now that I know it'll just be V/T playing around for gold and everyone else fighting for the scraps.

In this competition. S/K got 5.17 more in PCS. than Euros

P/T's PCS in the competition overall was 0.58 lower than what they got at GPF. But P/T also skated more clean in GPF.

well you should know that S/K PCS have been steadily rising

since:

SA
COR
Euros
Team Event
then Pairs

also because they have been skating clean Long Programs

Has anyone found an interview of S\S yet ?

I need a different image in my head then of her crying :'(

Also, S\K are such a cute couple, Imo they're the pair that stole the olympics

Only a short audio clip, which I can't link to right now cause I'm using a tablet pc, but Robin said something like everyone else skating to the best of their abilities which meant full risk for S/S, it didn't work out and although they have the bronze they do feel like losers.

The audioclip (in German) can be found at www.sportschau.de in the article about the fs. At least that's where it was two hours ago.

P.s. typing on this tablet sucks

Most placements so far have been spot on, And the Russians are competing great, But that doesn't mean that:

A) There are no scoring injustices, And that they are more acceptable seeing the outcome is kinda right mostly.
B) There haven't been gradual rises in scores of certain skaters throughout the past 6-12 months to allow some scores here to look "normal" by now (I recall Lipnitskaya getting 60 for PCS in SC a few months ago for a clean FS, And even then some people thought that's a tad high, She's now at 69+)
C) Athletes that are in competition with other Olympic host country athletes aren't affected negatively throughout that whole period, And when in the event by something like that (Would S\S even bother rehearsing 3axles the whole year if they stood a chance to go clean and triumph ? )

Please don't accuse me of Russophobia, I'm part Russian and usually root for the Russians to win stuff, But it's also ok to be realistic, Russia has the upper hand at the moment anyways, So why get all defensive ;)

so why complain then ? nobody would have complain had if it was from another so called country even with inflated marks

lets not forget with the Sale/Pelletier being one of the most deplorable and scandalous results

Did you bother reading the rest of my post kiddo ?

Would me much easier having discussions with you if you weren't all defensive and a little more objective ;)
