Some Novice Impressions - SP

The Men were fantastic in their SP. hoodathunkit? US is building a steady stream of male skaters. Particularly liked Austin Wagner, Jay Yostnto, and Joshua Farris, and Jason Brown. Others, also.

The Ladies were fine but nothing extraordinary. Look for Mary Beth Marley, Kiri Baga, and most of all Yasmin Sirai.

Pairs - They're just not senior yet. Nothing extraordinary.

I was watching the inauguration until now (so couldn't do PBP), but Joshua Farris seems to have had quite a good skate (161.05 total). Jason Brown has some really interesting spins and choreography and wonderful soft knees on his jumps landings. Brown into 3rd.

I'm only half-watching Novice FD but I caught all of Bonacorsi/Mager. They were absolutely fantastic for a new Novice team. Very expressive, smooth, fit the music well.

My personal opinions: Not crazy about Steven Evans; Joshua Farros is a good competitor but nothing special. Jason Brown is fun to watch. Edward Tea is also a good tech skater, but not very exciting. Yostanto is a fighter but the one I will be most interested next year is Austin Wagner coached by Priscilla Hill no less.

Farris was the youngest competitor, though. That kind of technical content -- and those scores -- at 14 really is pretty good.
