Hello skating fans. I'm a current USFS gold medalist in freestyle who's looking to pursue a Canadian gold freestyle test as well. I'm having trouble, however, locating the requirements for the test. I know there are 3 parts - a moves in the field section, an individual elements section, and finally the program.

Can anybody refer me to where I might be able to find the elements required for test? Thanks in advance!

Just in case no one answers this in a timely way, you would start at http://www.skatecanada.ca, join and enter the "Members Area". At that point, you may order a rule book, which would give you the complete, uptodate test requirements.

I hope a Canadian skater will come by and give you a better citation, but at least this is a starting point. Test requirements change from year to year, so at some point, you will need the current rule book in any case.

thanks, Trains
A USFSA member with their Gold freeskate can take the Canadian gold freeskate without any other prerequisities - and vice versa. However, Americans have the advantage that the Canadian Gold does not require MIF (Skills tests in Canada) as part of the freeskate test -- just an element portion and a program portion, while Canadians have to pass the MIF test.

If you live near the border, contact the test chairman of a Canadian club near you and ask when their next high test day is. Some clubs have centralized tests while others have their own high test days.

The fee for a Gold freeskate test - part 1 (elements) and part 2 (program - is $20.00 Cdn plus whatever ice or hospitality fees a club may charge.

It does say it in there but not clearly and good to note:
You must pass the stroking part of the freeskate test in order to proceed (ie: jumps/spins). BUT if you fail the first portion you can still take the program - they're two different tests.

As noted above - there are two parts to the freeskate test, as with all Canadian test track tests - you have to pass both to have the entire test completed. You can test them seperately and pass them seperately, even on different test days; you do not have to complete one to take the other; but you do have to pass both to have the test level granted.

You are also given the opportunity in the elements test to retry a certain number of elements in order to reach the required passing standard, however, the program is a one-chance skate, with no reskates possible on that test session; a subsequent test session would need to be booked.

Is there any chance that the reference in your post to the Moves in the Field section is referring to what they call in Canada Skills tests? There is indeed a Gold Skills test (which my kid is currently completing, actually) - which I can post information on if you're interested. It's certainly not required to obtain a Gold Freeskate test, it is an entirely seperate testing track.
