Wishing everybody here a happy new year as well! :party2: The past one gave us so much more than what I could have imagined or dared to dream with Dai-chan's unexpected unretirement. I'm so, so grateful that he came back with a renewed passion for skating and gave us a performance for the ages with a hauntingly beautiful rendition of The sheltering sky at JNats, showing that there's still so much more he has to say. To me figure skating is an infinitely richer "place" because of his presence. I'm looking forward to follow his further progress on his comeback road. Even if there are occasional bumpy sections – overcoming those will help him grow and make him stronger.

May 2019 bring continued health, love & joy to Dai-chan and his fans :ghug: ...and a near-perfect rendition of Pale Green Ghosts! (Pleeease keep this awesome program!)

Although I am VERY late (I just got a GS account and I'm a fairly new skating fan), I would like to congratulate Dai on two great performances and a medal at nats. Although I'm disappointed he won't be competing at worlds, it's great to see that he's skating for himself and not just for medals, as he's one of the best true artists on ice and it's been a pleasure watching him skate.

Happy belated New Year, Dai FF! あけおめ!And welcome Wombat! So nice to see new fans. Have you gone on a search for Dai programs yet? I sometimes get lost on Youtube and other video portals for hours, because I go from one vid of his to the next. I never tire of rewatching old programs!

Welcome to this thread, Wombat :)

Next season's GPF will be at the Paravela arena in Turin, Italy, the place Dai has so many special memories with.

2006 - Olympic Games (8th)
2007 - Universiade (Gold)
2007 - GPF (Silver)
2010 - Worlds (Gold)

I hope he will participate GPS and go to Turin next season. That will be a return of the king.

It's a special place for sure and it's obvious how much the Italian audience appreciated his superb La Strada when he won Worlds. I'm sure many of those in attendance fell in love with him that day!

'お年玉'!!! :) Was aired on TV on Dec 25th it seems. Dai's personal trainer Norio Watanabe talks a lot here, which is something we havn't seen often in the past. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Rrq3M0oTv4

Thank you for posting! It's nice to see Watanabe-san a bit more in the spotlight. :) Did he disclose any new information about Dai's adductor muscle injury? I suppose it's fully healed by now?

Towards the end from 18:26 of part 2, Dai practicing 4F, isn't he? Wow.

Yes, indeed. Do you think he's still practicing the 4F after getting his 4T back? I wouldn't put it past him to sneak an attempt into his FS layout at least once next season. It wouldn't be the first time for him to do the unexpected! Maybe it's still a dream of his to land one cleanly in competition. :hpull: As much as I can guess why he wants to do them (I think) and am awed by his ambition ... imo he is such a wonderful and unique skater that he doesn't need any quads. With or without them, he'll always be mesmerizing to watch!

Wish he doesn't push himself too hard. No more injuries, take a good care of your knee, Dai-chan.

I think you speak for all of us, deedee!

Off topic, but you'll see Ayaka in her junior days around 1:50. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOKlEs9Ae_E

They really seem like siblings, don't they? I've always been fond of the clip, in which Ayaka mischievously asks Daisuke for an autograph (after he signed the skate-boots of two young girls). And the curry cooking episode is a comedy classic! Let's hope Dai doesn't accidentally set his newly renovated apartment on fire, now that he seems to cook for himself more often. :eeking:

The apartment-building in Asakusa (a district in Taitō, Tokyo), Dai coordinated the interior and exterior design for, is about to be completed. The building, owned by Sky Court Co., Ltd. (the real estate company he is sponsored by), has been named "D-iberté" (a compound of "Daisuke" and the french word "liberté"):

https://www.skyc.jp/mansion/D-ibert...z1bNHJHvSbbaTKQ7-FPvFm71oPhOG8GaZgXx89XFlQZwk

He held a presentation today sporting a new haircut:

https://www.facebook.com/DaisukeTakahashiRoadtoSochi/posts/1460663377404556

He also talked about his future plans, revealing that he intends to start from Regionals again (despite being seeded for Nationals) and may do a B-level international competition next season, but doesn't have any plans yet to compete in the GP series. He hopes to be able to incorporate 4T and/or 4S in his programs:

There are a few inaccuracies/poor wordings in the Kyodo News article. It wrongly states that Dai underroated a 4T in his Nationals FS (he actually popped it into a triple) and that he wasn't selected for Worlds this season (he was selected but declined).

JSF officially confirmed that Dai can be sent to a senior B if he wishes.

https://www.nikkansports.com/sports...m_medium=social&utm_campaign=nikkansports_ogp

This article does not clearly tell if they meant next season or this season. Japanese media have reported names of the skaters to be sent to Challenge Cup and Bavarian Open, but I suspect the list is incomplete because it doesn't have Yuna Shiraiwa, who needs to get minimum TES as Junior. They also haven't announced who to be sent to Coupe du Printemps, yet.

There'll be a 2-hr TV program "Achillea" featuring Daisuke again tonight! :) BS Fuji 21:00-22:50 http://www.bsfuji.tv/achillea/pub/025.html

Part 1: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x71rwa1
Part 2: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x71ry9f

The user tweeted that he/she couldn't upload Part 3. Looks like it was blocked due to part of the contents.

In the latest interview published in Shukan Gendai (Weekly Modern Age), a magazine targeting older men, Dai sounded positive on competing at a Senior B, and didn't rule out the possibility of GPS next season.

Is this a hint at Hyoen 2.0 or a DVD/Blu-ray release? :scratch3:

http://hyoen.jp/

https://twitter.com/hyoencomingsoon/status/1095593455844089856

If it's Hyoen 2.0 it would explain why Dai doesn't have anything else scheduled for the rest of the season...

Mr. Kazuhisa Tobe, who wrote the script of Hyoen 2017: Basara tweeted that he watched AOI in Switzerland and compared it to Hyoen yesterday.

Is this just a coincidence?
