looks like the shibs and the audience were surprised at the score the judges gave them. i wonder was it just or bias after all?

either way, i'm very happy they made it to the podium. i have seen the latin performance before but there's something about seeing it live at the olympics that makes it that much better.

The technical panel was really strict with everyone. Though I am still shocked that B/S got NtDiSt4 while V/M got L3 .

Anyway, Maia and Alex were fabulous and they go the highest place among the American skaters http://fsnews.ru/page-al-ogt2018sd.html

Tomorrow they skate the FD :hap10:

...Why were they so underscored on PCS?

The judges get to rethink their PCS before the individual FD. :)

Meanwhile, all the top 3 teams here had the same base value. Both step sequences level 3, everything else max level. It could have been five teams if the Italians had not had a lift problem and if Chris Reed had not fallen in a step sequence.

Ice dance needs to rethink its base value criteria for the next quad; fortunately, that is something that is usually done.

It was an absolutely beautiful skate from the Shibs and a skate that they seriously needed. I have no doubt that both Alex and Maia came away from the TE with a renewed energy and confidence.

Here is a beautiful twitter thread from Alex:

https://twitter.com/alexshibutani/status/963254175353094151

Alex is so eloquent and reflective. I love this: ¨ We have become successful BECAUSE we are siblings and family. Not in spite of that fact. We have challenged ourselves to grow, innovate, and embrace what makes us different from other teams BECAUSE our differences are what make us unique. ¨

On her instagram story it says on the move, our work continue, I guess they are in the other rink, that used for US skaters. I hope they took a good rest before practice again.

The first time that I watch articles about the Shibs in my country. Basically, it is about Alex´ thoughtful message on twitter, and it says that they are fighting for the gold medal

New Vlog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I34nSaRjuXo I love how their parents look a little shy and cold in their vlogs but in their home videos they look totally in love with their kids, and her mom writes them notes and all http://icedancegems.tumblr.com/post/170720975134/021018 :luv17::luv17::luv17:

Omg that instagram post from Mirai :sad21:

I am so over people devaluing the Shibs' accomplishments and being oh so transparent about it. I'll be rooting for them to be the ones to bring home what looks to be the only individual medal for the US this time around.

all these links are beautiful! thanks everyone. i was especially wondering where the heck the medal ceremony was, was disappointed it wasn't aired but i guess everything has to be scheduled.

Alex is so eloquent and reflective. I love this: ¨ We have become successful BECAUSE we are siblings and family. Not in spite of that fact. We have challenged ourselves to grow, innovate, and embrace what makes us different from other teams BECAUSE our differences are what make us unique. ¨
yup! this made me smile. a lot of siblings have an okay relationship or ignore each other, and that's what i think most people are mistaken about siblings. take what alex also said:

"Believe in your dreams and surround yourself with people who nurture and believe in your dreams as much as you do. Sometimes the journey can be lonely, but fortunately, Maia and I have always had each other."

when there are only children or people who desire a different gendered sibling, they believe all will be well. that's not true. you are siblings and you will be literally siblings for life (as in related), but it takes a choice of both parties to be friends. you could also have those not only siblings but family members who only come to you in times of emergency ("emergency familes" as i call them).

that being said, because of maia and alex's choice of bonding, that is what not only makes their relationship that much for golden for us to see but for them to desire to keep strengthening it. i am very excited to see what they have to provide in the next competition!
