I admire Takahiko Kozuka for his fighting spirit and for deciding to continue his career post Sochi. He also has an introverted skating style but unlike Yuzuru and sometimes Tatsuki, this is not something to be fixed, it's an unique characteristic that makes him special and different from everyone else. I hope he makes the Worlds team once again next year. I cannot help being worried about his injuries though.

As expected, Tatsuki looks so much different with Daisuke than with Yuzuru or anybody else for that matter :laugh:

The adoration is out in the open and it's a big contrast to the serious person he generally is.

He finally managed to become Daisuke's friend after years of dreaming about it from the distance, as shown in this video:

A, ah! Tatsuki and Daisuke are not even looking at and conversing with each other in the first video! :eek:

and perhaps because of the distance of the camera and the lighting, their costumes seem to approach the glitter level of Yuzuru's. Glad that they have since then become friends, so to speak. Thanks for the video links, ionap!

Re Takahiko, I also hope he gets back to his winning form as his skating is lovely.

Yes! It was as if they weren't even aware of each other's presence, although Tatsuki certainly was since I remember an interviewer asked him if he had congratulated Daisuke for the medal yet and he said he never dares to speak to him unless Daisuke speaks to him first :laugh:

And the glitter was definitely there on Tatsuki's firebird costume and Daisuke's Morozov inspired Pagliacci costume.

Lovely shot of Daisuke and Tatsuki, thanks ionap! I have a feeling that once Tatsuki is at ease with someone, he can be as chatty as Yuzuru. He can be long-winded at times.

He can definitely be as chatty as Yuzuru, but only with persons he is close to.

A few pictures of Tatsuki with Mao and Daisuke at the same Cup Of China 2012 as the videos above. It was one of those rare times where Mao didn't get matching placement with Daisuke (they got matching placements about 14 times throughout their career and they were constantly paired together in galas because of this - GPF 2006, 2007 and 2012, Worlds 2007 and 2010, Sochi 2014 to name a few :laugh:

) and Tatsuki got matching placement with her instead. He looks so happy with them :laugh:

Thanks for all the links ionap (though fc2 remains like Ali Baba's cave to me without the magic password).

Fourteen times matching placements for Mao and Daisuke! :eek:

This is a testament to their sustained excellence over the years and must lead to a certain comfort level with each other (as we saw in the Olympic gala rehearsal where Mao "preferred" Daisuke over Yuzuru

).

I wonder whether Tatsuki could develop a similar bond with any of the TJ ladies as Daisuke had with Mao and Yuzuru with Kanako.

I think there was an article some time ago that even reached their ears and they had to make a comment on it. Something like being spotted together somewhere holding hands.

The same goes for Yuzuru and Kanako though there are no such rumors for them as there are for Mao and Daisuke.

Tatsuki has the least chances of getting this kind of rumors, he's too much of a loner :laugh:

Seriously, it's only to be expected as Daisuke and Mao have gone through more experiences together (their many matching placements including their 2010 World championship titles and of course the 2010 Vancouver Olympics where they both medalled). Yes, Tatsuki does cut a solitary figure among the TJ members. I'm an inveterate romantic so I want him to have a partner (not to say that the other TJ members all have partners as we all know that Daisuke has said he is looking for one and I have read that Mao hasn't had a boyfriend yet). But obviously he's a passionate person and the hugs I have seen him give to his coaches (Anthony Liu and
Yoshinori Onishi) and his choroeographer Philiip Mills are among the most heartfelt I have ever seen, so with the right person he'll open up and make a (ahem) connection.

It's unfortunate all of them couldn't have much time for their private life as they were mostly busy with training, competitions, ice shows and the likes. But they are a beautiful team and are good friends to each other so hopefully that made up for it.

I suppose Daisuke put the emphasis on the word 'partner' because he previously said he doesn't want to get married until he's 40 years old. He said he is still too immature to pass for a 28 year old member of the society and only after 10 more years he will be able to fully appreciate a woman :laugh:

At the Kansai University lecture, Nobunari also told him he would really have to want a partner in order to get one and make some actual efforts, hinting that he didn't give much importance to that aspect so far.

I've also noticed those heartfelt hugs Tatsuki gave to his coaches and to Phillip Mills and that shows he's a warm person inside, despite the appearances.

Whoever gets Daisuke as a partner will be very, very lucky. Not only is he ubertalented, I remember reading an article where Shizuka marvelled at Daisuke's kindness, patience, and consideration for others. I can't help but think Meryl should have snapped up Daisuke when he openly declared his interest in her. There was also one post I think here in GS where the poster evinced astonishment that Daisuke is still loveless, noting that Daisuke must be getting hit on all the time.

But to return to Tatsuki, I think he can also set hearts aflutter like Daisuke and Yuzuru:

And if if we're talking about partners in skating galas and exhibitions among TJ members, I would pair Tatsuki with Satoko. She's just his size and matches him in demeanor, i.e., "serious."

One reason Daisuke has been single all these years is the fact that he puts his 100% in everything he does and was not able to have a romantic relationship in parallel with his competitive career. He chose to give his life to skating and most likely declined every relationship offer he may have gotten. He said he chose love above skating at one point but could not focus on skating anymore and preferred to give up on love completely from then on. I think I've read that post myself and could not help wondering if there were any ladies charmed by him inside the actual team :laugh:

Another reason of his loneliness is definitely his extremely low opinion of himself. Every time I read comments on how he dislikes his body from his nose down, hates his arms and legs and even his personality it just saddens me.

I'm so happy Tatsuki is getting so much attention this year being among the most important skaters at every ice show of the off season. He belongs in the spotlight at each and every one of these shows with his talent. And yes, I can definitely see a Tatsuki-Satoko team as she is indeed a serious girl :laugh:

^Thanks for posting the list of the ice shows where Tatsuki will be performing, ionap! And I'm happy to note that Daisuke is there with him in all of them.

What you've shared regarding Daisuke is so poignant, that he "preferred to give up completely on love" to focus on his skating. I hope that for Daisuke, true love (one that is selfless and nurturing) will come and find him and that it will be something that will make his skating even better. That is my wish also for Tatsuki and Yuzuru.

That is also my wish for him, as he fully deserves someone to make him realize the wonderful person he is, someone who will be able to chase his inner demons away and give him happiness after all the tears he's shed this past 2013-2014 season. Firstly after the injury, secondly at the national championships, thirdly at the Olympics and lastly not being able to compete at the World Championships at home, even though he really wanted to. I could not help noticing he still has some sadness in his eyes in the pictures I posted in his thread from the Asahi event.

It seems like everybody else is shy to join this thread but I enjoy talking to you, Maria :biggrin:

I cannot help caring for them as human beings as well as I have a degree in psychology just like Daisuke does (although his is more sports oriented). Seems like psychology didn't help his own conflicted mind as much as it helped the others around him with his care, like Shizuka said. Tatsuki and Mao are my age and of course a big inspiration to me even though sometimes I feel like I haven't done half as much as they did in my life :laugh:

^No wonder then you seem to understand Daisuke and Tatsuki so well! And in my book helping heal people is as valuable as bringing joy to them through skating, so please don't sell yourself short.

In my field, a fair amount of knowledge of psychology is also needed as in I guess all areas.

Thank you for that precious video of Tatsuki. I don't know Japanese, but I think there was a part where he explained how he stabilized his jumps and thus transformed himself into a contender in any skating competition he enters.

By all accounts, all three men in Japan's Sochi FS team have great mothers (I won't call them Mama's boys because of the negative connotation). And yes, it's easy to see where Tatsuki got his (good) looks, but then I may be biased here.

Yes, he was practicing the take off to his quad toeloop, the snap he needed to lift himself up in the air. Looks like he has discovered the secret because his quad toeloop has been beautiful and consistent throughout the season.

Ah Daisuke and his self-deprecation! I read the query of one fan of his asking if Daisuke's brothers look like Greek gods or something because of Daisuke's comment that he is the least good-looking among them. He is one swan that stubbornly believes he is an ugly duckling.

Lovely fan art of an Olympic moment of Tatsuki and Daisuke, thanks ionap! I think even if he did not medal, Tatsuki will always remember Sochi for his bonding with Daisuke and the rest of Team Japan. I believe Tatsuki can be as competitive as hell (otherwise he would not have worked so hard to improve so much), but it was nice of him to say that during the team event he did not view Yuzuru as a rival and that will come when the individual competition starts.
