What a good read!! What a character. We're really lucky to be a part of a sport with such a rich history and countless stories of personal/world triumphs.

Was it true that she was a nazi sympathizer?

I just looked on Wikipedia, where it says that apparently she was acquainted with Hitler and his circle from the 1930s on. During the war, which she spent in the U.S. making films, she carefully avoided any public statements against Hitler or in support of the anti-German Norwegian resistance forces. I would imagine she didn't go so far as to make any statements actually voicing support for Hitler. Around that time, after all, she became a naturalized American citizen.

Sonja Henie's life should be made into a movie

I agree and asked in another thread why a film bio had never been made. Her life had so many theatrical and dramatic elements. The end reads like a play or movie script:
dying in her husband's arms as she was flying to Oslo.

an overrated hollywood ice princess
her only contribution is popularizing skirts for ladies figure skating
Colledge is the true legend !!

Henie belongs with the overrated skaters like Torvil / Dean, non compete triple jumper Witt
the double twists of Gordeeva / Grinkov, obnoxious poster boy Yagudin, etc.
