I agree that Evgenia was the best today...but it pains me that she can get such high PCS right off the mark (deservedly) but equally deserving Satoko has to scratch and claw her way up the PCS ladder...the slooooow way around. Her jumps are small, but everything else about her skating is so wonderful to me.
Good thing Satoko is a tough cookie. She'll keep going at it until she gets the respect she deserves.

Someone people have it easy, others don't. But Satoko is a fighter and she'll be around for a long while, unlike some of the other girls who will fade away after a season or two.

Beautiful SP from Satoko.

I love Satoko. Her artistry stands above everyone else. And she even raised her game a little bit here. Her long program is a Lori Nichol masterpiece. If she skates it clean, she can contend for gold--unless, of course, the judges continue to hold her down on PCS.

I don't think it was the judges that held her down. It's her jumps that are the problem. To be honest, I don't know how you can solve such a problem. Her jumps are way too tiny.

The standings are fair, Medvedeva (spelling?) is was a bit overscored on PCS but she put a strong performance out there. Was refreshing to see the way she starts the SP, even though the jumps get crammed together later on.

Satako behind Gracie is fair. Again the PCS not really accurate between them to me, but Satako's combo is questionable as usual and she's getting plenty of credit for it, so it evens out. Strange how she stops and poses at the end of the footwork, though. Doesn't really work there with the music, they should figure something else out.

This. I will say however, that I consider Evegnia to be the most graceful and subtle of the Russian lady skaters.

Yes to this. Not the same style(s), but her level of grace reminds me of a young Mao/Yuna/Kwan. If she improve on both her artistry and technicality, she will be a force to reckon with come 2018.

You could always call her Honeybear since that's pretty much what the name means (only bit of a stretch).

Oh, I just watched Karen Chen. Nevermind, she should have been in 2nd. Undermarked! Speed (nobody was faster than her), big jumps (that jump combo should have been +1 GOE despite the underrotation and bit of skid on the second part), superb flexibility, excitement, pretty good control. Could finish some of the moves a bit better and gain some more maturity, but that was a strong performance. She did a REAL spiral. Great to see. Program could be structured better and have a better music cut to build a better climax -- the current setup of footwork during the slower part and then two spins at the end isn't most ideal to me; would be better to have that great spiral feed into a footwork sequence to keep pushing the uptempo momentum and then end with that awesome layback. Would love to see her kill it like that.

In terms of pure skating quality and movement quality or whatever those PCS stand for, for me, there was Satoko, and there was everybody else.

What do her jumps have to do with PCS? Also, height on jumps is only one part of one of many factors judges are supposed to look at in scoring GOE.

Medevevahvah are whatever her name is
What an ugly mockery of skater's surname.
Making fun of her name, however complicated it would be, is degrading and unacceptable behaviour towards any human being, especially 15yo girl. You should be ashamed. :disapp:

She has a darker aesthetic. She makes me think of Russian ballet.

I can't spell evegnias last name too. That's why I have to use her first name.

Zhenia is pretty easy to remember IMO and is shorter too.

Although...Medvedeva has never given me any issues. :p
