After reading about all the restrictions at Worlds (tablets, water bottles, etc.) I don't see any info whatsoever for this competition...anyone familiar with the arena? What do we need to know? I looked on their website and it says they don't allow cameras with detachable lenses...do you think they are strict about that? Surely it should be ok during practices? I also wonder why there isn't a practice schedule posted yet...the lack of organization seems kind of worrisome.

(I don't know how to reply to 2 people in 1 post, hence this 2nd post)

Yeah, that is worrisome. But I've heard only praise about the organization of other skating competitions in Spokane. It's possible that there will be a refreshingly relaxed atmosphere.

As I wrote above, please contact me (you & any others going) if you'd like to meet.

Cheers, golden. Never mind, nobody died. I have a very vivid imagination  I'm sure I'll find a way (been lucky so far this season).

No, nobody died. Nor was my post some kind of wild overreaction to yours. Your very vivid imagination was introducing additional confusion into the multiple layers of confusion already surrounding TCC. I simply did not want anyone to be misled.

Cheers to you.

Oh my word. I really do apologise. Didn't mean it that way at all. Simply meant that I (and hopefully everybody else) will get to see performances one way or another. You are absolutely right to point out my misunderstanding and I'm sure many GS folk will thank you for that.
Goes without saying, I apologise to them as well. Won't happen again.

2016 Team Challenge Cup (April 22-24, 2016)^
^Available worldwide except in the following countries: China, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Kazakhstan, Romania

http://web.icenetwork.com/help/blackout

And... what happens in those countries? I can imagine the Asian countries might broadcast something, but it seems odd to assume that France and Romania are the only two countries in Europe to do so, or that they are the only two where icenetwork doesn't have broadcasting rights. Anyone?

ETA: My bad, should've read this thread more carefully. It is broadcast in France, per Reynnou's post above.

Apology accepted. Thank you.

For comic relief: the USOC article re TCC came up with an apt  introduction for the comp.

Part Ryder Cup, part NBA All-Star Game and part algebra test — it’s quite the hybrid that organizers of figure skating’s inaugural Kosé Team Challenge Cup have concocted....
http://www.teamusa.org/News/2016/Ap...Cup-Has-Athletes-Competing-Boatloads-Of-Money (Apr 19)

ETA, my compliments to the USOC writer for doing a good job also of summarizing the TCC format:

... Friday’s opening session, for instance, is singles-only, with the three men and women on each team skating a short program for a combined score based on placement — though an individual champion will be crowned as well. The continental teams will compete for $132,000 in team prize money, as well as a men’s and women’s bonus pool.

... The board will be wiped clean for Saturday’s competition, which will be split into two sessions — pairs and ice dancing in the afternoon, singles in the evening. Competitors will perform their free skates, and the aggregate-scoring format will combine the two sessions. All athletes competing that day will contest for team prize money worth $455,000, and a pairs and ice dance bonus pool will also be offered.

Re IN:

As Tanith promised, IN will provide free backstage (backstage only) coverage of TCC. The schedule for free access to Ice Desk webcasts, press conferences, and other stuff is here:

The free backstage coverage begins on Thu:
Icenetwork will provide live coverage of the red carpet show Thursday, April 21, from the Northern Quest Casino & Resort beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Also that night, beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET, icenetwork will stream taped coverage of the team introductions and matchup announcements.

Disclaimer:
I merely am providing information re the free backstage coverage.
Not saying that it is an adequate substitute for coverage of the competitive skates.

The "multiquote" button is at the bottom right of each post. It looks like a little quotation mark in a speech bubble beside a plus sign. Click on that for each post that you want to reply to. When the dialogue box appears both (or all) of the posts will appear and you can type between them or after them.

After you post, be sure to go back and unclick all the clicked multiquotes. Otherwise the quoted posts will show up every time you make a further post on the thread. :)

above.

KazSport is not broadcasting anything (apparently the rights were too expensive), so I have no idea how we're going to watch the competition where we have two skaters representing our country! :(

Still no detailed schedule. Is icenetwork going to charge for that also?
Oh well. I am going to show up at the arena for the 10:am practice on Friday and see what happens.
(BTW, to all the GS lurkers who have contacted me about a meetup, I dont want to be rude and please dont take offense but this is a very short event and I have my wife to worry about and local friends who know even less about skatin' than I do to take care of and friends outside the forum showing up so you might want to count me out as far as dinner Friday and Saturday...I am just going to play this event by ear since we arent being provided any information. I am sure Mrs. P will be hob knobing with the rich and famous so I dont expect much time spent with her either as she has a real job to do.....
Again. Last fair warning. These seats are hard as rocks and I am bringing my inflatable seat cushion. If you forget, there is a second hand store across the street called "Value Village" that we used to buy cushions at the last nats there. Weather. The record heat wave is abating so look for 60s with a chance for showers each day....make sure you go to Riverfront park a short walk away and see the Spokane river roaring with snow melt from the heat wave.....

I have caved.

I bought the add-on IceNetwork stream.

This whole "resist authority" thing was outweighed by my desire to be driven mad with nervousness by Gracie Gold and Elena Radionova for the ninth time this season.

Hehe. :slink:

I hope someone record the red carpet or icenetwork will leave it available on demand!!! I have no idea what it will be like, but I really want to see what skaters will do....unfortunately due to time difference I don't think I'll watch it live... I woke up for worlds at the craziest hours and I was "jet legged" for days but this time I have to attend a graduation party so I can't even get a nap before:noshake:
