Real winner of the day: Shin Amano

His views of figure skating are probably not that high with all that red …

At least the coaches know what they have to work on…. On a lot of elements.
Hmmm....it's competitions like this that kinda ruins fs for me. When the tech judge goes in and decides who's to win. It's impossible to have a clue with this kind of judging who is winning or not.

I know there needs to be tech judges that sees to that all elements are performed correctly. But this judging was not anything a trained fs fan could follow. Don't like it.

The results in this competition, with just a point between 2 to 4, was not decided on the ice, it was decided by the tech judge.

Let's not forget that Shin Amano wasn't the only one on the panel. When reviewing elements, if the two tech specialists do not agree, the technical controller makes the decision. Personally, I prefer when the queues and carrots are called. There are so many issues with rotation, it's a good thing that skaters are dinged on it. What I do not like is when only a few skaters are dinged and not the favourites. The panel was steady throughout the event which is fair.

It is always decided by the judges, come on. At least this tech judge appears to be impartial which is more than we can say for the general judging a lot of the time.

I’m agreeing a lot with you lately. Yes. I prefer when the rotation issues are called out. But, this year, I thought the Junior Circuit has been really fair. I hope this continues to the Senior GP circuit. Let the the true best skaters shine through.

I love Yelim Kim, she has become one of my favourites, and I like her choreography; there are some really great moves, and she has great body movement. But damn, could she skate to, I don't know, anything but Je Suis Malade? My visceral dislike of this always annoying and overwrought dreck makes it so hard for me to watch. How did this become a figure skating warhorse? I hated it when Weaver/Poje skated it and I hate it now.

I'm still rooting for her, though, and was pleased to see her start out the season with a win.

Which calls or not calls are you having issues with?

Fingers crossed for Fiona! 🇨🇦
She is training for both singles and pairs this year! Tough task
Hoping she can land as many of her triples, as possible 🤞
There are some great pairs teams coming up so it's starting to get crowded. I would say that there is a lot more potential to get to major competitions as a woman's singles skater in Canada right now than in pairs. I wonder what made her start pairs? Just Bruno's influence?Maybe her dad? Any insight would be helpful.

Honestly, I'd have had her below Anna.
I thought 108 was quite generous for that program. The presentation was really hampered by the mistakes and was lacking in other areas as well and she was only 1.5 points behind Gubanova and Rinka in PCS. Not right.
