She will be the 14th and penultimate skater to go. So, fourth skater in Group 3.

I hope it is her. It's nice to see names from the past still skating.

By the way, I clicked through to brother Helmut's Wikipedia page, and it says that he is now a pilot for Ryanair!

At this event, you compete for whichever country you live in. There are lots of skaters representing countries that don't match their passports. Its like the opposite of the Olympics. I am here right now (watching the Bronze Men skate). Not a lot of people but good energy.

By the way, when I was looking through past results from this event a few days ago, I discovered that Midori Ito has competed in it before. I can't remember when exactly it was, though, that I saw her name. But, it was a good few years ago.

I hope I get to see some of the performances, particularly pairs, eventually. Whoever is doing the live streaming won't let me see any of it because I have Adblocker and don't know how to get rid of it on my computer. (I get other people to tinker with my electronics, I having some kind of black magic effect on devices -- just made a third appointment at an Apple store to try and get my iPhone to stop being Locked to Owner :bang:

.) As to time zone, I'm on the Pacific coast, nine hours behind Oberstdorf. 9:30 a.m. here, 6:30 p.m. there.

Ah, that explains a lot.

I never liked the passport requirement at the Olympics, so I am glad that that this event is going in the opposite direction.

Hope you are enjoying the event. I saw some elderly skaters competing at the Maria Olszewska Memorial a couple of months ago, and found it very awe inspiring. But, that was just on a livestream. It must be even better to experience it in real life.

Come to think of it, I never thought to check if those particular skaters were competing here as well. Right, that's something for me to do later on! :biggrin:

It was neat to see! I only watched a short amount, I was just popping in between skating at the public skates, but it was fun to chat with the skaters who were there. Miiiggght have spent some money at the ChiquemSports booth too.

I saw Midori Ito, but didn’t talk to her because she was constantly surrounded by people. I missed her skate because I had to go home. I went to scope out if it’s something I might want to compete in next year. Still undecided. The event looks cool, and everyone was nice. Oberstdorf is so adorable, I say that as someone who lives in Munich and sees these towns all the time too.

Yes Midori did compete in it. I always thought that was awesome. Perhaps I would have considered it less awesome had I had to compete against her.

Just saw a video of Gary Beacom at this competition. I was flabbergasted in a very positive way. That man can skate and jump as well, show original steps and spins, and he's 63! Kudos!
