Actually, the word 'family' is a misnomer. They were welcoming applications from non-traditional families, too. I took this to mean that 4 orphans who feel as close as siblings could be a team.

I think the application for AR8 did specify that at least one team member had to be underage 21.

. Increasing the teams to 4 will make the team dynamic much more muddled (and less interesting IMO)

ITA. Plus trying to keep track of all those people, especially in the early going when there's 8, 9, 10, 11 teams going, is going to make the show very chaotic. I mean, it's ALREADY chaotic to begin with, but in a good way; I think having all those people involved is going to slow things down.

I predict either of two things: Either it's going to be a total flop, or it's going to be like Survivor All-Stars: best ratings ever, worst EDITION ever....
