Thank you for sharing the translations with us, Newbiespectator.

As for Dai getting invited by AOI again next year I don't think it'll happen since Dai wants to stay away from skating for at least a couple of years.

I don't think you're right, ioanap. Here is a contest to win a skating lesson with Daisuke for twenty lucky people http://www.ezaki-glico.net/biscuit/shallwe/2015cp/
It says it will take place sometime TBA in august/september. So Dai will be in Japan and will be skating in august/september (and I don't think Dai is the one to give lessons unprepared ;)). His fans are already speculating this means he will be there for FOI.

After Sochi he may have had such thoughts as to abandon skating, but maybe the last shows, especially XOI and AOI, have brought his love for skating back.

... Dai is flying over the ice with no hesitation, so freely as he feels the music, and is spinning as its music demands without worring about levels anymore. No one plays the music with his whole body and blade work as Dai does, no one exudes passion on ice as Dai does for me really.

He seems to be in a good shape - I don't think I've seen him performing Primavera Portena so well, and he looks totally enjoying his collaboration with Nelly.
Here is a list of Dai videos from AOI, it gets better and better with every performance:

I didn't know about this, it must be new. Thank you for sharing the link :) I've kept reading about his intentions to quit skating for an indefinite period of time even during XOI so I thought he would stay away for a while but as long as he's happy I'm also happy for him.

Competitions, on the whole, aren't the same without the last generation of skaters :( I miss being able to watch a group of competitive skaters with completely different styles. The short program of the 2008 worlds is one of the best competitons in recent memory for the men.

Hopefully, he does study dance in the near future. It would be a great asset if he chooses to be a chereographer--something that I think would suit his strengths rather than as a coach.

Dai will skate at the 5th edition of the Kobe Charity Event on April 7
http://www.charity-kobe.jp/

He started this event 4 years ago and always participated, even when he was unable to skate due to injury (last year). The rest of the cast has yet to be announced.

In addition to the release of the CM, Dai has announced that he is coming to the US next month to study. Japanese news article here: http://www.nikkansports.com/sports/news/1445684.html

I will only translate the part where he is asked about his decision to study abroad:

I am not really an open person. I can’t do anything by myself so I want to go a severe environment. How far can I go by myself? That’s what I want to know. I’ve always had support from other people so I’ve relied on them until now. I want to get to know myself and I also want to learn English. I will start with going to a language school and it’s vital for my own business for the future**. I want to communicate more with the peers that I have competed with. Maybe it will open up a whole new world and maybe it will not. No one knows.

** I don't think he actually means he wants to open up a business, more like future plans for himself, whatever they turn out to be.

Oh my isn't Da-chan fabulous! Very well done video and I love the intersperse between the animation and Dai.
I definitely will be purchasing Marnie.

I suppose he will be travelling to US after the Kobe charity show.

Thanks for the updates!

If his plans include becoming a chereographer, then I would think knowing English would be important. Also, when he's doing shows in Europe or North America, where English is more widely spoken, learning the language would help him with not just interacting with the other skaters but help him build a network for future gigs.

Has he said what he is studying? I've only heard that he wants to study dance.

Language school? Dai, I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to teach you English for free... :p I even have a TEFL certificate!
