*Czarina Anya - I loved so many of Petula Clark's songs - I still do!

Me, too. Especially, "Color My World". :)

I'm also a fan of Lea Salonga. She has such a pure voice. I used to try and mimic her way of singing, when I was a teenager. :)

What?! No one has mentioned Janis Joplin! To me she's the best female singer.

I usually have long lists for everything, except for best singers. I'm only really impressed by the following:

Janis Joplin
Freddie Mercury (Queen)
John Lennon (Beatles)
Eva Cassidy

I have to say that I hate watching shows like INXS and American Idol because they ALWAYS murder Queen and other classic songs by great singers.

Lenna Kuurmaa from Vanilla Ninja has such an amazing voice- one that I cannot describe, she is such an expressive singer with a deep yet angelic voice- like the singer from 'Heart'

Tarja Terunen of Nightwish- she has such a powerful operatic voice that brings chiils down my spine. I swear there is something about it that moves me deep down in the soul- Amy Lee has nothing against her...

Anouk Teeuwe, crap is it me or does she sound like Janis? Yes we all know who Janis is. Anouk is such an amazing performer too and she is Dutch.

Emiliana Torrini- she is another Northen European... from Iceland. I cannot describe her voice in words.

Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova- T.a.t.u. RRRRRRRUSSIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alexia- from Italy she has great voice too! I forget at first. She is too good...

Great list, Equestrianguy. I will be repeating many of those:

Allison Krauss
Sarah Brightman
Celine Dion
Eva Cassidy
Dolly Parton
Patsy Cline
Annie Lennox
Sinead O'Connor - Definitely messed up, but I also think she has a tremendous
voice....Also she has had some very powerful and original songs.
Elvis
Josh Groban
Fleetwood Mac
The BeeGees
Mariah Carey - She has been so-so for the past couple of years, IMO, but her first 3 or 4 albums were phenomenal.

I'm sure there are hundreds more, but that is all I can think of right now!
