I was just reading a fond memory from Toller Cranston regarding the Protopopovs:

They performed to "Meditation" from Massenet's Thais, costumed with elegance and refinement. Oleg wore a black skating suit with a touch of white at his throat. Ludmila wore a perfectly simple V-neck dress in an electric shade of fuscia.
