Somehow doesn't feel the same...

It doesn't.

It's the difference between a announcement that you have just been elected president by a count of 225 million to 205 million...

Compared to being swept up by acclamation and carried to your throne by the ecstatic mob.

However,Janetfan is quite right. It was that string of number 1 ordinals, not so much the actual scores.

Sure it is impressive, it is just not my type of dress, it sort of reminded me of a christmas tree.:) But they chose a real dimensions model instead of a skinny one and kudos for that.

Hmm, it seems to me that you apparently missed the whole point in the Ferrero event:

Dress isn't half bad (i would wear it), but I don't think Evan is looking at a fashion career. He never expressed an interest in that before (modeling yes, designing, not so much). I think Evan will eventually become a coach and take over for the aging Mr. Carroll. Evan wants to cut lose a bit and seems to want to try the "good life" after all his hard work....but his olympic fame won't last long and he doesn't seem to want to get an education.

for those of you who havn't seen Johnny's book cover:

Wow, I just now saw the picture (thanks for the link Jaana)! :) Evan & his date look gorgeous, they remind me of Kyle Richardson & her husband, even G&G, they look perfect together. :)^)

And OMG, I can't believe he did the gown, it honest to God looks breathtaking, two huge thumbs way up!

I don't know why some people come down on Evan because he really seems like a genuinely nice guy. I remember when he was sitting & chatting with both Dick Button & Scott Hamilton, whom were both putting down Zhenya, but Evan was the only one not to. And I honestly don't think I've ever heard him say anything bad about anyone. Not only that whenver a lady needs an escort he's there, IIRC he took Sarah Hughes to some big event last year or the year before, and not just her, but I've seen him with other ladies as well. Tanith Belbin was wrong to let him go imho.

And he really did skate great at the Olympics, I was there, he skated perfectly. I'm just kicking myself for not taking any pics of him during warmup because I only had a few left in my camera, and I opted to forgo taking some of him, even though I was thinking he can be the next Olympic Champion. Besides Zhenya, he was the only one to stand out in the crowd ~ the old saying tall, dark, and handsome really does apply to him, and that's the truth.

:party:GOOOOOOOOOO EVAN!!!!!!!!!! (& I really truly wish he would come back for another go at the 2014 Olympics; I can just imagine him & Evgeni, two superweights going at it once again; the publicity would be out of this world!):party

The song is already leaked on internet, was supposed to get published on January or something, but I dont really know anything about it, i just glanched the info on twitter the other day.

He does look quite dashing. Less orange is good for him.

I'm not sure I like the dress though. The velvet brown material clashes with the gold material, imo. But it's a nice gold.

Yeah, a natural in attracting attention through cross-dressing, outragous talks, and girly acting. I was planning to read his book which is scheduled to release in January. But the cover of his book has taken all my desire away. Now I'm not interested in his book one bit.

I said Johnny had wider appeal than Lysacek, not universal appeal or that he's personally appealing to me.

I don't care for Johnny's shenanigans myself but he gets attention and has a worldwide fan base. He attracts ardent fans who are not necessarily skating fans. He intrigues many, for whatever reasons.

I don't care about anything he does outside skating, except once listening to his singing on YT. It was aweful, like the kind that gets played on American Idol for all the wrong reasons. I can't believe he's releasing a CD.

But many love him and are interested in him. His show is being picked up for another season. I never watch any of it.

I actually think that Lysacek has a wider appealing in general population than Weir. Maybe he just doesn't have it in skating world, that's all

I think it's the opposit. Outside the skating world, he's hot right now only because of his OGM, not because of any personal charisma. That won't last unless he has other talents to launch off the current celebrity.

All you need to do is look up his many quotes about his "main rival" Johnny Weir and you'd probably rephrase that statement. As an Evan fan it's the one thing that gets me to roll my eyes most days. Granted Johnny was no better, both loved giving a heated soundbite to the media about the other. They really bought into the media rivalry and never seemed to disappoint the journalists out looking for a catfight (which is all it was).

Oh yeah, I remember the tit for tat, but honestly Johnny was the one that always seemed to start it imho. Evan's remarks were so tame I don't even recall them, nor Johnny's for that matter, lol.

I like both of them, but Evan a bit more because he isn't as controversial as Johnny imho. In fact I've honestly always thought Johnny was jealous of Evan, it comes through plain as day, especially in his documentary. It's a huge turn off. :(

Johnny is the more naturally gifted athlete, but Evan is the more mentally tough one, and he works way harder than Johnny imho. If Johnny worked as hard as Evan he would be a World & Olympic Champion I feel. But I've seen these two types over & over & over again in skating. And my money's on the hard worker/mentally tough one versus the naturally gifted. Then again sometimes we are blessed to have it all in one ~ Evgeni Plushenko. :)

Are a person’s views and experiences less interesting to you if he acts girly?

Thanks for the comedy everyone!

I think the reason Evan doesn't have a current girl friend is that he is not over Tanith yet.

p.s. and the jealousy isn't limited to Johnny, as I've seen some fans full of it toward Evan simply because he won the Olympic Gold Medal. I'm not even a f.s. fan of Evan, Zhenya is my all-time favorite, but I don't begrudge him. I'm happy for all of them, the top 3 all won if one really looks at it. Besides that, it's a sin to covet what wasn't yours to begin with, and I'm not just talking about a piece of medal.

I wish Evan well in whatever he chooses to do, but now my focus is on competitive skating, so I probably won't see him around unless he eventually comes back to competition one day. And I honestly hope he does, just like I want Evgeni to. :)

Bye, Evan, hasta luego.. *waving goodbye, lol* :)^)

Hey, Math, don't push the envelope!

Well, I will answer this since you are a nice person. You are not asking whether I think that a person's views and experiences are less valued if he acts girly? (For which the answer is it should not change the value.) You are asking whether I think that a person's views and experiences are less interesting to me if he acts girly? The answer is, "Depends on what are his views and experiences?" If they fit my values and views, I will still be interested in them.

Further more, I have to ask what is girly you are talking about? I've found that "girly" has a huge range of different meaning. What I believe is normal or manly, you might think it's girly. I've heard some Americans say that Tennis is not a men's sport, which I think it's laughable.

Regarding specifically to Johnny, I was attracted to his skating at first. Then I wanted to know more about him. The more I discovered, the less interest I have about him. His views and experiences are not interesting to me. What I wanted to know through his book was the inside stories about the skating world. I'm interested in others, not Johnny. His book cover made me realize that if I want to know part of the skating world through his book, I have to take the risk of making myself physically feel sick. So I give up. There are other sources that I could look for for my interest.

Not that there is anything wrong with it, but almost everything this man does screams "I'm in the closet".
