Hoping this might get more attention here than it did on reddit:

I’d love to hear anyone’s experiences in the blades. Just looking for more info on blades as i’m in the market for a new blade.

I’m in MK Gold Stars. I’m working on all my doubles. Highest is 2lz. I’m a better jumper than spinner in my opinion, but i also don’t delegate as much time to spins like i do jumps. I am looking to improve my spin experience so any blade that helps spins, but also doesn’t suffer jumps, i am open to😅 or anyone who has gold stars and had any tips or tricks that helped them hack their gold stars! i like them but don’t love them but i also don’t have a lot of blade experience 🧍🏾

Also what are the experience difference between the regular phantoms vs the revs? i’m also interested in JWGS but i’ve heard people saying they basically have to be on the toe pick to find the sweet spot and i already struggle with finding sweet spots in my spins

i’m hoping whatever blade i get within the next year will last me for a few years & into 2A and hopefully up !

If videos are needed for better analysis, i have a very public skating diary! my insta is skatingchis

If you have issues with spinning and have Gold Stars, there's not much help you are going to get from Phantom. Phantom's just going to have you hitting your pick over and over. Gold Stars are pitched with the higher heel and rounder rocker similar to Gold Seals. Rev's aren't going to do you any favors with spins (if anything it's going to make catch spins harder).

i just think i’m not a good spinner 😭 my spins have been improving but i feel like there’s jumpers brain and spinner brain and my brain adapts quicker to jumps than spins. spins are in innately a foreign language to me. i’m not really looking towards a blade for spins, it’s more just a change of scenery. I do love my Good Stars! My skating has been the best it’s ever been in them. I was actually originallly between the Phantoms, MKGS and JWGS, but I got the Gold Stars because I wanted to try the gold seals for spins but honestly i was a little afraid people would judge me for being in them before i got to doubles. though from being in MKGS i don’t think JWGS would make any difference?

Do you recommend any other brand?

If you can't spin as you feel you would like in Gold Stars, you need to find yourself a coach who specialises in spinning. I found MKGold Stars to be total spinning machines. Phantoms are lovely blades but won't help youmore in that respect and you'll always be catching the pick. I've never worn Gold Seals because I like MK blades better. But it's all very much personal choice.

Whilst it can be tempting to hanker after new equipment to make things better/easier, if you watch videos of PJ Hallam (a British Champion), you'll see him doing triple axels and beautiful spins in Legacys...

No. And FWIW-Gold Stars are top of the line blades. You really need a spin coach.

I have one actually! I just got one a few months ago. but time and money wise i can only squeeze her in once a week. my spins have improved but i still feel like my spin progress is delayed compared to others. my Gold Stars don’t make spins harder or easier for me so i wasn’t really looking for a new blade catered to spinning, just for experience variety. i feel like i hear other people talk about their blades and it’s like a match made for them. i feel like i don’t have that

Honey, it's like that with husbands/partners, too...

You can spend a fortune on equipment and never find what you consider to be a match made for you.

And for what it's worth, I have often found that the people enthusing madly about their top of the line blades are often the ones who would actually be better off with Coronation Ace.

In your position, I'd be visiting my skate tech or orthotist to see if there is a problem with my feet. Sometimes a tweak to the footbed or blade position can work wonders.
