Always Italia is strong in roller skating , that video is great and have a extreme great edges control, is amazing and they are the 1st worldwide currently if my memory isn't wrong.. Also another figure skaters worth watch are Argentinean ones, are very creative and the style is very similar to Italians.

Here's the official website for more information https://www.worldskate.org/

And that video platform and no need sign up or similar.

http://www.worldskate.tv/

(Was watching last world championship that was held in Colombia last year.

It brings me memories when was judge years ago.

Thanks for sharing this! At min 44 probably their best free program ever (definitely my favorite) earning 10s from all judges in artistic impression.
Unfortunately they are now both retired and greatly missed!

Then on the other hand, if you start a topic in Le Cafe, you can keep it running for years since it is not a busy subforum.
If you start a topic in The Edge, let's say a cross-discipline topic called Similarities and Differences Between Figure Skating and Roller Skating, it will probably be a hot topic for a little while and then go to the archives.
Any option has its strong sides and weak sides :)
I think it should be a broad topic anyway, like the one for gymnastics. Roller competitions, skaters like Brandon Frazier who switched from one form of skating to the other, questions about high boots vs low ones, quad wheels vs inline, using roller skates for cross-training, the necessity for safety equipment not needed as much on the ice (with reference to Paul Duchesnay's horrific accident skating on a street). Lots of interesting possibilities.

It reminds me of rhythmic gymnastics when my daughter was training and competing in that, in the late 1980s/early '90s. Although the Canadian champion Lori Fung was the first Olympic gold medallist, the big countries for years for rhythmics were Spain, Bulgaria, and several of the South American countries.

Thank you for sharing!

Your comment just made me think, could roller skating become a platform based on which South American athletes could switch to figure skating? It would be great to expand figure skating geography this way.

Things from 2000 to 2019 was Russia the big country for rhythmic gymnastics and currently the podium is a surprise even Israel or Spain was in the podium, in south American situation Brazil is champion but for me can be a lot technical but without soul is like a robot. A friend mine (she was the national champion 6 years in a row ) trained with Lori Fung . Well rhythmic gymnastics is another of my favorites sports.

Yeah, it is in some cases , in Chile since 2016 there's a federation recognized by ISU and in January 21st. From 8am to 1pm CLST (Chilean standard time) there's national championship and it will be on Santiago even there would be Livestream of it on YouTube , who organize is Club bajo cero fsc. I Will pay attention and let you know the Livestream address and the start list.

Can you post this information on this thread, please?
I'd love to continue the conversation about figure skating in South America but it would be off topic here.

Thanks. I would want to hear it from Matteo's own perspective though, and in his own words, with his delicious accent. 😋 🫠🫦😉

A couple of Italian interviews with Matteo and Lucrezia in Italian have come out these days so I thought of this post of yours 😁
A drink with... Lucrezia Beccari & Matteo Guarise the day after they got back from Kaunas
Sport2u interview live from Kaunas on Jan.13 with Italian Eurosport commentator Ambesi.
So enjoy Matteo's "delicious accent" 🤭 and feel free to ask if YouTube subtitles are not enough to understand what they are saying 😊

When I opened the YouTube page on my computer this evening I was offered this video from the pairs' FP at the Olympics in 2010: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUxmWc_Y9w4. Shen and Zhao were my late wife's all time favorite pair so I thought I should post this in her honor🥲.
Truly, truly divine skating/art of Shen and Zhao. Thank you for posting.
Thank you (=to your late wife) for reminding us once more to this beautiful skate of Shen and Zhao. World is beautiful and full wonders indeed.

Your wife had excellent taste in skaters ! That is what a pair should look like together, "two skating as one". Every move so smooth even the one dropped lift looked as if it were part of the choreography -- you had to know what should have happened next to realize that it didn't. :thank:for reminding me of this performance. I'll add the video to my saved selection of performances I watch over and over when I feel I need a treat.

Edit: I should also add that the placement of the twist lift so far into the program was mind-boggling. Just recently I saw an old interview with Meagan Duhamel in which she was asked why pairs always seem to start with the twist. She said it was because it was the move that took the most strength and the most mental sharpness and you had to do it at the beginning while you were still fresh. She was right. But did they need to? No. I was beginning to think I must have missed it when there it was, something like halfway through. Wow.

This was the first ever figure skating program I have ever watched... It's still so utterly mesmerizing. I remember trying to find the music (Albinoni's Adagio will never find itself out of my playlist) and reading all the articles and Wikipedia pages of Shen/Zhao and the story of their coach, Yao Bin. Thank you for posting it here in your late wife's honor.

If you have Peacock, US Synchro Nationals is on NOW and they have just announced that Chan/Howe and Liu/Nagy will be doing a special exhibition of their long programs at the next interval.

As none of us have seen Chan/Howe’s LP this year, I wanted to alert everyone!

ETA: and OF COURSE Peacock ended its broadcast before this exhibition started. Of course it did. Now we won’t see this until Worlds. Thanks, Peacock!!

Sadly the video of the Juniors' short program that I found on Peacock did not show any pairs🥲😭.

I am sorry for your loss. Too bad my recollection S and Z barely won and I think lost the fs. I think it was the other Chinese team that dazzled the fans.

2021 there was 24 pairs - there were 23 last season - the number of competitors usually rises as we approach the Olympics.
