I couldn't find any other mention of this, but I was sad today to learn of the death at 96 of one of the biggest influences on my own skating, Ron Vincent. After my partner and I retired from our exceedingly modest competitive career, Ron was one of the most persistent mentors who urged me to keep going just for fun. Always encouraging me to learn new pairs moves that had been invented since my day. "Your day?" he'd scoff, "My dear, in the years that were *my* day you weren't even born yet! And I'm still learning, so what's your excuse!" I didn't realize how much I missed him until I read a tribute just now on Facebook from one of the clubs where he'd coached.
