Way back in 2021, we had been discussing men, dance and pairs at Skate Canada and some of our awesome smaller male skaters and formed a club for them.

:cheer:Small/Tiny and Mighty Club:clap:

Founders @anonymoose_au, @labgoat @moonvine @elektra blue @yuumagical
Prez - Cong Han
VPs - Marco Fabbri & Jean-Luc Baker
Treasurer - Shoma Uno (cause he's precious)
Emeritus - Tamara Moskvina, John Nicks, Nobuo Sato, Scott Hamilton, Midori Ito, Paul Wylie, Dan Hollander
Honorable Mention - 2021 4CC crowd for cheering loudly and for everyone despite their small size.

Criteria: per Prez @anonymoose.au
“I guess if a skater looks noticeably tiny amongst their peers they're allowed in”

On calling small skaters mushrooms...

I think it started with Shoma Uno who was so tiny on the podium next to Yuzu. At times his hair was so thick it looked like a mushroom cap on his head. Unbelievably cute.

Last year's 4CC short program was a triumph for short skaters. Small medalists were Kao Miura / Keegan Messing / Jimmy Ma! It was extremely striking. So perhaps we should welcome Kao to the club.

Added:
Actual podium was Miura / Messing / Sato, also short. So maybe we should add Sato to the club as well.

I understand both sides of the height issue having been the smallest child in class for the longest time and spurting to be 5 foot 7 inches or 1.7m.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure that "little mushroom" came from Yuzuru's fans, from back when he used to wear a mushroom-like bowl haircut...

I found lots of cute bowl cut pictures of him here. 😊

Also, why isn't this called the "Tiny but Mighty" club? I enjoy small skaters, so I would like to join, but it sounds so much better that way!

Because that's what @anonymoose_au called them. Please join us - we'd love to have you. To be honest we don't even have an official following.

Last I knew Michael Parsons is 5'7"
Uh oh - There will have to be an open discussion about this to decide on this...
I was going by the comments when I searched for "small and mighty" in the discussion and included everyone mentioned and did not verify everyone's height. Thanks for pointing it out. Any suggestions on what should be the limit?

Paging @anonymoose_au @labgoat @moonvine @elektra blue

Also! Best thread idea ever!

I would like to add as an Honourable mention despite being 1.66m tall (and thus just above the cut off!) Konstantin Menshov. He didn't look QUITE so tiny as he competed before the Russian men started to be giant... still pretty short though!

Here he is with Sergei V (not known for his height )

Haha I did I did...

"Tiny but Mighty Club" is an awesome title too! Not sure why I didn't think of that one 🤔
The question has come up - so how tiny do the guys have to be?
Most are 5ft 5in (1.65m) or less, except for Michael Parsons who is 5ft 7in.
Since you are acting Prez of this enterprise - what say you?

Oh no! I'm not sure

I guess if a skater looks noticibly tiny amongst their peers they're allowed in :)
