Hi! I have been stretching quite intensively (about 30 min a day) for about a year now. I got my splits, but I keep having issues with pike fold. The problem is that I keep having a sharp pain behind my knees and can’t stretch my hamstrings.
I started looking into it a few weeks back and thought the issue was tight sciatic nerve, however the exercises that were supposed to resolve this, didn’t help. Does anyone know what the problem is and how I can solve it?

You should see a PT or certified trainer for this. If you stretch too intensively, you could hurt yourself w/o realizing it.

I agree that you shouldn’t diagnose yourself. I’m a certified ISSA Elite Trainer, strength and conditioning specialist and Pilates instructor in addition to being a skating coach.

I would refer you to an orthopedist, sports medicine chiropractor, and/PT.

Not everyone can get their splits and I usually accept that. It’s totally ok! You may have overstretched something or have tight hamstrings or calf muscles. It’s best to get diagnosed, work with a PT, and then get a strength and conditioning coach that can work with you regularly once you are cleared by the medical professionals.
