I was pleasantly surprised to see that CainGribble/LeDuc look significantly better live (at least, here) than they do on video. They have good ice presence, and medaling here, beating all three Canadian teams at home, has to be huge for them. I now find I prefer both CainGribble/LeDuc and Calalang/Johnson to Knierem/Frazier (who I’ve also seen live.)
Can you give a link to the gala?Hmm, this is hard.
1. Sui/Han, SP especially, FS was glorious too
2. Mai Mihara, FS is the better program but I was in tears for both skates + the gala
3. Green/Parsons, FD especially but the RD was also really well done and I was really charmed by their comedy gala EX
4. Liza SP! FS also fun but that SP is entrancing
5. Smart/Diaz both programs
Honorary mentions: Aliona Kostornaia's gala EX, Lajoie/Lagha FD, Guignard/Fabbri FD, Jason SP and exhibition particularly, Nathan Chen's step sequences, Keegan Messing, Cain-Gribble/Leduc, Pavliuchenko/Khodykin, Haein Lee FS.
Unfortunately the complete gala video the ISU posted seems to be blocked in the USA, though while I was still in Canada I noticed it was available. However I did find a links to several individual skates on one youtube channel (though I'm VERY disappointed none seem to have popped up for Green/Parsons and Smart/Diaz, both of whom did comedy routines, or Pavliuchenko/Khodykin's zombie program)Can you give a link to the gala?
Agree about Green/Parsons, also love Smart/Diaz this year. My two favorite free dances, by far.I find it hard to believe that no one has yet mentioned Sui and Han. Seeing them live and close up was an incredible treat. The SP is outstanding (the LP somewhat less so, IMHO, due to weird music mix and covers.) The outside-the-program interactions between them were very charming, too
I will also say that though I admittedly love her anyway, Tuktamysheva live actually EXCEEDED my expectations. Practice, SP, LP, it doesn’t matter—she was perfectly Empress-like at all times. Just incredible on-ice presence and may I add, I have sometimes heard folks say that she is slow, lacks ice coverage, has poor spins but—based on what I saw, none of those criticisms are justified.

And Green/Parsons are awesome, just saying. I really can’t imagine that anyone will have a better FD than they do this season. I want to see that at the Olympics.
thank you for these! Did (ahem ... bronze medalists) Ashley & Tim skate in the gala? The P/K zombie program sounds very fun.Unfortunately the complete gala video the ISU posted seems to be blocked in the USA, though while I was still in Canada I noticed it was available.
