(OK, it didn't show THAT much, but still.....)The Slutskaya shot was priceless; she looked absolutely mystified by the fact that she was even up in the air. Then again, given her problems the last year, maybe she WAS a little surprised.....
Yahoo does seem to like to pick on Tatiana Totmiannina. A few more pics like that and she's going to start skating with a bag over her head so we can't see her face when she's jumping....

The patch on MK's skate is an extra thickness of leather that is applied to the skate at the ankle to increase the strength of the boot where it tends to crease and breakdown.

Michelle said in her interview on "Today" that before the QR they had to undo the stitching in her boots because they were too tight or something. So perhaps the patch was put on because of that.

Dizzy, I agree. Her skate was just awful. I watched the Junior Championships and they skated better than Carolina did by far. She didn’t even fall gracefully. Over the years we have seen many skaters fall but this was by far one of the most ugly falls. It was kind of scary though because if she didn’t hold her head up she could have really hurt herself. From different commentaries I’ve heard she is the heir apparent for the Gold in 2006. Now mind you I read this on another board so as far as it being truth, I would take it as speculation. She’s Italian and so is Speedy. So does that make sense of why she was held up so high in marks. I couldn’t believe it either. I thought Elena S. or Julia S. skated much better than Carolina and deserved to be ranked higher.dizzydi said:

About the topic of nipple showing. I think it is part of figure skating, since most lady skaters don't wear bras under the skating costumes. Actually I did not see MK's in worlds 2004 on tv, but Xue and Sasha did show through somewhat.

That's interesting about talk that Carolina will be the next OGM winner. Well, unfortunately as we know stranger things have happened.
I would love to hear the judges justification for Carolina's technical marks in the long program. That is....unless they were giving points for falling down. I must admit that she did some interesting position sprawled out on the ice. It's very seldom, if ever, that I would laugh at a skater but honestly her performance was laughable.
I have become a hater of the ordinal system. Especially now with the anonymous judges. Perhaps all the figureskating judges should be fired and they should start over.

The photographers know what angle to get the cheesiest shots of the skaters. That's why we see down Michelle's dress so much and why I saw more shots of Sasha's crotch than I needed to! That shot of Michelle leaning way back at the end of her program is such a weird shot - it's from her back. There is only one reason that angle was chosen!
