Here's an interview with Kristi Yamaguchi  cheering on the American ladies at the World Championships. Kristi is official USFSA mentor to Karen. Scroll down for a clip of Kristi's daughter Emma skating.

Mathman is trying to suck away my day! But I wont fall into his trap...KY's performance 1992 performance was very artistic but not technically perfect. There were two major mistakes that I saw. The Japanese judge graded her on he low side and I am not saying he really was the judge from Ito but if I had the time, I would like to go back and watch Ito's performance...of course, under the 6.0 system, to control your own fate, you had to come in the top 3 in the short. Ito's was what? 4th? No time today to go back and watch footage.

KY is right about Karen. Karen has gunfighter's eyes. She is hungry and is willing to work hard for success....next year at San Jose will be very interesting...I see no reason why Mathman can't make it! ;)

I'm rooting for Karen, but the leniency of the Tech specialist at nationals wasn't doing her or the other girls any favours by ignoring some of their URs. She will continue to get absolutely nailed by international judges unless she skates with more attack and more rotated jumps. She still deserves to go to Worlds on the basis of being the best on the night, but she has to step it up. She is not getting the PCS of top skaters so she absolutely must be absolutely clean technically (including rotations) to make up the difference. It's too optimistic to say two Americans can medal but I can picture someone with decent PCS like Wagner doing it.

Karen can't fully rotate her 3Lz-3T because her 3Lz is too big, but otherwise her problem is more about actually landing her jumps. She needs a technician to make her technique more consistent. She gets good enough height that she could be a magnificent jumper. I wish she would've moved to BOrser years ago. If Worlds goes poorly for her and she doesn't change her coaching situation, I'll be so disappointed.

I don't know..... I just don't know..... looks to me like the US ladies will only have 2 spots for Olympics. Not because of lack of talent. It's complete lack of consistency. Nerves. I am even nervous for Ashley. What if shin amora is the caller? What if there are clean skates from Carolina and gabby and mai and they knock down all 3 US ladies? It's possible.

I think Satoko placed too high last year for Shin to get assigned to the tech panel.
