2014 Trophée Eric Bompard Ladies FS 11/22

I don't. Elena out performed and out-jumped most of Yuna's performances today.

I disagree with you. Yu-na's jumps were much, much higher than Elena's, and I actually felt something out of Yu-na's programs.
I love Elena's great energy, but still, I don't feel anything special about her performance.

WOW - Ashley was once again over marked for what she did! Only what 3 clean triples and she gets 116! Come on!

No.

She had five clean triples (3S, 3Lo, 3F, 3Lo, 3Z (!) The -GOE was for missing the 3F combo.

Actually looking at protocol, she didn't do too bad. Her levels on the spin were a bit lacking (level 3 on two spins) but she didn't get a major edge call on the lutz and no URs other than the << in the added -3T.

I don't think Elena deserve that PCS yet. It's way to high. She still lacks maturity and her movements are still jagged.
Just hoping that she'll fix it because even though it was an amazing performance, she still has that junior-ish skate left in her.
The judges used to give Mao 8s... Did Elena even skate anything close to that? Maybe she will do so next time but definitely not now.

Huh. I have to disagree with you. I see Elena as nothing more than a jumping bean with flailing arms. Her jumps are good, yes, right to the point, and her consistency is amazing, but they generally lack quality, especially her 2A.

Quality is definitely lacking (don't look at her scores lol). But Elena has musicality and a lot of spirit. She may have a lot to improve over this quad but it's easy to see why everyone's already fawning.

Elena is amazing, but this season I prefer Liza's FS. The GPF is going to be very interesting.

Well. Be prepared for Elena reaching near 70 by Worlds.

 Radio! but :jaw: to her score. Sad for Julia... A bit shame Courtney didn't podium. I thougt she would. :ohwell: Anyway congrats to medalists!

Well, after Ashleys and Julias not-quite-great performances, I get why the judges would be overjoyed and score Elena too high... point is, she deserved to slay the competition, and she did.

I understand that but PCs tend to only go up from here. If Elena stays consistent the judges are going to blow her scores sky-high at Worlds.

True! I do agree with you on that point. I love how energetic Elena is on the ice, and it is certainly endearing.

Congratulations Elena for a poised performance!

Not ready to count Julia out though for the major prizes as I think she'll get better later in the season. She better.

Given the today results:
Rika Hongo versus Gracie Gold who is ahead?

I want to say Gracie Gold. However, it's also true that while Gracie has better techniques, Rika seems to hold her nerves stronger. Only if Gracie can handle the mental pressure... sigh.... I mean she could be so good! The potential she has...

Ha that is what the judges want people to to think. As if good programs, choreography, maturity, sophistication, thoughtful artistry no longer matter. You just have to be Russian. There's no such thing as have to earn your marks as a newbie instead just gifting them in a season without Adelina in the sport and Julia looks less confident. It is 2 different rules for everyone.

You are one of forum's ardent Yuna critics, so excuse me for point out your obvious biases through out the ages. In what planet is this program better than any of Yuna's past program or performances , example please.

Who would the judges go for in a WC? A clean Adelina or a clean Elena?

Me think clean Adelina as her jumps are generally bigger and her 2A is a lot more eye pleasing than Radionova's. Plus, she is the Sochi Olympic champion after all. Though the question is, can Adelina make a full recovery just in time for the Euros and Worlds? We will see I guess...
