Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Spiral was the only one who asked why else would Lena do it if not for money, but Abraxis12345 answered her/him in a way that was quite positive about her possible reasons.
I'm a woman. :)

Countdown until Saransk!!! I assume we won't have videos from the test skate...
Last year there were videos from the open test skates, ditto the year before last. So if they participate in the open as well as closed test skates I think it very likely that somebody will film them and upload the video online.

When are the exact dates for the competition in Saransk? Thanks.
Oct. 15-18.

Some new pics from them. Not work-related, but it always makes me smile to see them smile and have a good time. Makes for a great lunch break!

Are the skaters obligated to go to the open test skate? It would be amazing if we could get a little preview of their new programs. I try to not be too excited, but everything that comes out of their camp sounds promising. :)

It's up to the skaters whether they wish to participate in the open test skates or not. But, yes, I'm also trying very hard not to get carried away with my excitement. Their excitement is very catching, and so far everything sounds good (touch the wood!)..

I believe that there are no closed test skates this year, so they have to go to the open one. I could be wrong though!

There’ll be a gathering of the Russian national figure skating team in Sochi on Sept. 7-13, and Gorshkov said that open test skates would take place on the last two days, Sept. 12-13. I’ve read some people on a Russian forum say quite definitively that these open tests skates would be preceded by the closed test skates, and I assumed that they knew what they were talking about, but since there’s no official information about that, I guess they could be wrong.

Here’s a link to the only official info I could find on this topic (in Russian):

If I remember right, last year there were obligatory closed test skates and voluntary open test skates. Elena and Ruslan only attended the closed ones, as did Bobrova and Soloviev, but many skaters in singles went to the open test skates. But I guess the fed may set it up differently this year. Also, IZ may choose to attend the open test skates this year, even if they don't have to, because last year they were very much pressed for time and quite naturally didn't want to show their programs to the public earlier than they had to, but now the situation may be different. But still, I think it'll be perfectly understandable if they prefer to wait till Saransk, so as to impress the public, the judges and their rivals with their programs in the best possible state.

I don't know if Sabinfire has already brought these links here, but he made a video for Top 10 performances this season and I/Z are number 7 in his top (min. 6:00 - 8:00) and another video for best costumes of the season, and I/Z are number 2 (4:22 - 5.35).

The sound of my voice is like stabbing Q-tips violently into my ears.

On a somewhat related note, I just recently made a top 10 EX's video.

Don't complain. You have a very nice voice.
A bit surprised you chose Liza's LP from the Euros and not the SP at Worlds.

Thank you. :) After an hour of editing and hearing my recorded voice over & over, I become temporarily immune to the 'I hate hearing my voice' syndrome. But after taking a break or seeing a video I did several days ago, I have to suffer all over again. ;)

Well, I kinda cheated on Liza's pick, including both the Euros LP and Worlds SP. Overall though, I much preferred her LP program (music is interesting, her costume is more colourful, the layout is better). Never been a fan of 'Bolero', however the 3A moment at Worlds will be what is remembered...

Yeah, that happens to me with the music as well. No matter how much I might love that particular piece of music I'm using.

I feel the same about Bolero and overall her LP was much better program, I agree. As performance&execution though her SP at Worlds was outstanding.
