Zhang/Zhang have won 3x Cup of Russia, 2x Bompard and Skate America and 1x Cup of China, NHK and Skate Canada. They never won the GPF though.

Besides I love how the applause started waaaay before the end of program and it never stopped! It was so loud you would think S/Z were skating to that and not to Puccini!

This is fun. Irina Slutskaya won Skate Canada (twice), Cup of China (twice), the German GP event (once), Cup of Russia (7 times), and the GP Final (4 times). For some reason she never competed in the French event except once in 1995 (4th).
And of course she was never invited to Skate America after 1995 because the USFSA didn’t want to risk anyone clipping Michelle’s feathers. (Bad for TV ratings.)

Because Prix never changes singular or not. Prixs in the title is an horror to see to any french born speaker's eyes. Saying this I Do not mean any harm though, I understand it isn't everybody's regular language.

The complete set - all six. Since skaters are assigned only to two, it would be hard to do in one season.
It's also hard to do if you're a top skater trying to get a berth in a host country that has high ranking skaters of their own. So you end up with Irina Slutskaya not appearing in Skate America after the mid 90s or Yuna Kim never getting an invitation to the NHK Trophy.
Fun Fact: Nobunari Oda is the Japanese skater to win the most Grand Prix events with 4/6 title wins. Yuzuru is at 2/6. Daisuke Takahashi was 2/6 at the time of his retirement. Takeshi Honda was 2/6 at the time of his retirement. I guess the benefit of being exiled from the NHK Trophy is that you get more chances to compete in other Grand Prix Events.

In the late 90s, skaters could compete in up to three Grand Prix events in a season. This was briefly revived in 2011-2012 season as an option for top skaters.

I always found it ironic that Irina Slutskaya had it over Michelle Kwan when it came to the Grand Prix Final. Overall, Irina won gold 4 times to Michelle Kwan's 1, whereas Michelle got 5 World titles to Irina's 1. Grand Prix Final golds are nice, but I'm sure Michelle was quite happy with her 5 World titles!

I think after the 1999-2000 season, Kwan had trouble keeping up her conditioning throughout the season and opted to pace herself to peak at worlds (and boy did she). Plus, the fact that she skipped 6 GPFs for different reasons from 1996 to 2006 (skipping the GP series entirely in her last three seasons and only doing Skate America for the 2002-2003 season) also hurt her GPF title count.
Irina seemed to be in her prime physically during the lead up to 2002 and was able to keep up her conditioning throughout the season.

Irina won in 2002 and 2005. Unfortunately for her, Michelle skated her absolute best in 2000 and 2001 when Irina was also in great form.

Michelle won Skate America, Skate Canada, and Nations Cup. She didn't compete in NHK (ever) or Lalique (that season, although she won Lalique the year after). Those were the 5 Grand Prix at the time before Cup of Russia was added, and Nations Cup/Sparkassen became Cup of China.

In 2003 Sasha Cohen won all three GP events she entered (SA, SC, Lalique)...and then lost the GPF to Fumie Suguri.

Yes, once. I think it was in one of the spring cheesefests, maybe the Campbell Soup Bowl. It was her best performance ever, and the first time she beat Michelle Kwan.

I totally remember that performance. It happened when she was with Sarah Hughes old coach. Sasha was beyond great and beat Michelle and Arakawa that night. I'll find it hang on.

Watching her now she looks really slow in comparison to some of today's top ladies. But that camel spin position is to die for. Btw, did Sasha have a flutz? I can't tell.
