2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

That's suspect too. As I said, I thinking voting machines are in play. We shall see maybe if any votes are discarded.

Honestly, I don't think voting machines are necessarily in play. I myself found that I have some kind of weird browser/internet setup, so I can literally reload the page and vote endlessly, without using a "private" or "incognito" browser. I definitely have voted about 3000 times over the past few days, and it's only taken me a couple of minutes at a time (roughly a vote per second) whenever I get bored. So they could all be real "human" clicked votes.

What this means, though, is that the vote ultimately is decided by the crazy fans (myself included!) or anti-fans who are willing to vote 1000+ times...

In the future, I definitely don't think this kind of multi-voting should be allowed. :noshake:

Moscow (city): 17,479
Sverdlovskaya: 6,415
Tatarstan: 2,900
Moscow (Oblast): 2,730
Yaroslavskaya: 2,669
Novosibirskaya: 1,441
Tomskaya: 1,352
Nizhegorodskaya: 852
Samarskaya: 850
Zabaykal'skiy Kray: 793

Thank you! But most of these places voted mostly for Radionova--I was having trouble finding the high-voting areas that voted mostly for Kuchvalska... Like moriel suggested, it does seem like the map totals aren't quite adding up to the country totals...??

Are you sure about that? We must be looking at different maps. Russia has 83 subjects (46 oblasts), the vast majority of them are in red (Kuchvalska), and she has them by a large margin.

The two largest cities:

Moscow: Radionova 53%, Kuchvalska 33% (Radionova leads by 20% of the total Moscow vote)

Saint Petersburg: Kuchvalska 69%, Radionova 17% (massive Kuchvalska lead)

Radionova has a lead in a few blue regions, but it usually only takes a handful of the various other red regions to catch up. I guess I'm not seeing where Radionova should be running away with the vote, based on the TCC map.

We are looking at different maps! On mine, Radionova is red, and Kuchvalska is green!!

But you are right about the figures...I wasn't looking at the percentage differential closely enough--just the overall vote count and the plurality winner. And a few hundred votes in the other smaller oblasts add up quickly...

That's weird... as far as I can recall, I have always seen green for Medvedeva, red for Kuchvalska, and blue for Radionova -- no matter where I'm voting!

I just looked at the USA map for Team Europe ladies... depressing. Many states have single digit votes, total. Seems like nearly all the votes come from California and New York.

A few strange anomalies to keep an eye on:

Oregon now has almost 9,000 votes for some reason (same as California and NY), and 92% are for Kuchvalska.

Nevada is over 3,000... and 99% are for Medvedeva.

Hey Batsuchan, is this you?

Oregon now has almost 9,000 votes for some reason (same as California and NY), and 92% are for Kuchvalska.

Oregon continues to grow, now at 10,700 votes (93% Kuchvalska) -- Oregon now has more votes than any other US state for any other TCC skater.

To put this in perspective: Oregon has a total of 76 votes among the North American ladies.

you know for as much as some have complained about this vote... we sure do seem to be having fun with it.

This is so true!

At first I thought the whole voting thing was stupid, but now I see the cleverness of the event organizers. The crazy voting has kept this thread at the top of the page for two weeks while we are waiting for Worlds to begin. Without it, we would probably have forgotten all about the TCC.

I see that Alsaka has cast only one vote in European ladies. 100% for Evgenia. I bet its Tonichelle. :)

I can still see why some don't like popularity influencing who gets to go, i respect those that feel this way and can appreciate wanting to keep sports more pure. But at the same time Grand Prix assignments are based on federations picking who they want largely rather than assigning them by standings. They could have GP selections be more balanced, but they leave room for popularity in that process. There are a lot of top skaters that are good enough to go... i am not sure a fan vote is really that much less of a popularity context than just letting the federations pick.

I just want to be clear i am not trying to jab anyone in the ribs here... i still respect those who don't like it... and kinda hope it is handled different in the future (I think the third skater should be the next highest ranked from a country that can't field a WTT team for instance) ... i can't deny i am enjoying this so far.

Oh yeah, it's brilliant. Speaking of that: hopefully people start buying more tickets soon. Just got an email this afternoon from USFS, they are deep discounting the TCC ticket prices across the board. All-event tix Row 2-8 are reduced by $75. Similar cuts in all other tickets, including individual sessions.

The promo code is: THANKSWORLDS

I'm depressed, Misha's 20K below Boyang:disagree:

I am crying. I wonder if someone shared it on popular Chinese social media to get him votes. Unfortunately I don't think Misha has a huge audience he can directly appeal to. Someone should put him on national television in Uzbekistan to get some votes!

I will just keep stealing people's laptops and phones to vote.

So Polina just withdrew and is replaced with Mirai... can we get Mirai on the ballot now... Please please pretty please? I bet we could still get her a win.

Hahaha, nice try, but it's not me! I'm firmly on Team Elena and "never letting go!!" of that third spot.
Thanks (in part) to my efforts, NY currently has the most votes of any other state. :agree:

Speaking of Uzbekistan, their Euro ladies vote is...interesting???

Help me, people, because I'm clearly blind and dumb!!
From the World map, I see 131 votes total, but when I look at the country map, I can only see two regions that have voted, for a grand total of 4 votes... If you can find the other 127 votes, please let me know!

I don't understand the double standard :dev2: in this thread:

When Radionova leaps ahead by many thousands of votes within a very short period of time (as she has just now), the speed at which those votes for her pile up does not get questioned by anyone in this thread. No accusations that bots are responsible.

The B word gets used only when Kuchvalska is the one who gains ground within a short period of time.

Votes for Radionova were not originally "spite" votes. Votes for Kuchvalska (the SK ones) were. People clicking on Kuchvalska are not voting for, they are voting against. They would'n give a care if it was any other woman.
