2016 Team Challenge Cup - Gen Info/Pre-chat

I can still vote; at this very moment. :biggrin: :biggrin: :biggrin: Although I don't doubt they'll annulate our vain efforts after (if?) thy sort out this mess.

Hey, you are right... the direct links do still work. Lovely.

I kinda hope they go with "meh let's invite the less represented federations and call it good" approach.

I think if they have any say in who goes at all, Radio will be there; she's in the promo video on the website.

Yea, the Captain's Pick idea was about getting the most popular skater up there, so Radio would be a no brainer. Though I'd rather see Kuchvalska. I'm hoping Bychenko will still be chosen, but the US seemed partial to Kovtun and I guess it's the US people whose taste will matter the most at this year's TCC.

Why there is no third Dance team, whyyyy... The Shibs would kill all the voting polls! Wherever I happened to converse about Dance with somebody at GPF, the Shibs always were the favorites, for the Latvian girl to my right, for the Spanish lady to my left, to the Japanese fans in front of me, and the Swedish people two rows behind me...

No votes are removed for European Ladies.

Medvedeva has received 5000 votes during the suspendation period.

Are you talking about votes via Pollcaster?

The new voting platform is Woobox.

I have a feeling that all the previous votes via Pollcaster will be disregarded. [ETA, update: After what I originally wrote here, new tweets from USFS have seemed to imply that some Pollcaster votes are being retained???]

At least for me, the Woobox tally shows only percentages, not raw votes.
And for better or worse, none of the demographic stuff that Pollcaster offered.

Well the new format kinda draws attention to how silly "Team North America" only teams with only two votes. Only team with only one country to vote for. If they were going to reset the votes anyway, why not add Grant and Mirai? It would look better, it would make sense, and they are starting over anyway.

Now we just have to figure out if they are looking for real emails or just the @ symbol.

Also don't forget disposable emails are a thing

FWIW:

@USFigureSkating
... The poll admin identified many IP addresses which were using automated voting. It has removed those votes & added more security

So were some Pollcaster votes deemed legitimate? And are still being counted??

It is indeed quite appalling that TCC has bungled the voting procedure so badly.
(My optimism before the voting started sure is looking silly now :hopelessness:.)

At this point, the final voting results never are going to seem quite fair to me -- even if any of my favorites are among the winners.

...is Kovtun really the most decisive leader in his category? lol

Well I'm okay with the new system (as long as my inbox isn't flooded with spam the next day).

Mishaaaa!:gclap: Because he was clearly the loser of nasty bot voting from people who just hate hate hate Uzbekistan.

(hey, I can see why folks post about conspiracy theories, this is kind of fun....)

So do we only vote once per email? Too lazy to go look at the rules. Only have four gmail accounts now; I guess I could sign up for more. ;)

In reply to a query re Liam and Polina:

@USFigureSkating
... Since they withdrew from Worlds, we removed their votes from the poll. Others totals were unaffected. Thanks for voting!

Implication again is that some of the Pollcaster votes are being retained (contrary to my original assumption).

But as someone else on Twitter said, the lack of transparency/clarity from TCC/USFS reflects very poorly on TCC as a whole.

[ETA: I think the numbers of deemed-legitimate votes carried over from Pollcaster should have been made public, for example.]

I once was intrigued by this new comp, but TCC's mismanagement of the voting process has been a big turn-off.

Because it challenges people to come up with better bots!

Well, producing random character sequences is not thaaaaaaaaaaaaaat challenging =)
But mostly, i just dont see how this is better than before, really. Why bother changing etc?
