Well, if you asked me today, I'd say that she kept the wrong program. Maybe her new LP will grow on me. It was a rough skate which didn't help so I'll wait until her next event before I say anything else. Maybe she should back to her Titanic LP.

Yeah... I think so too. Maybe she really likes her FS. But last year's FS was far superior to her WSS free skate. Unless she switch's before the GP, I can't see this going to well. Maybe it will grow on us.
 
I just rewatched Mariah's FS and it has definitely not grown on me since the first time I saw it.

The songs she's using from West Side Story do not form a cohesive program for her--it's like she's skating to three different programs that were thrown together with very little thought.

I concur with the other posters on this. I do not like this WSS at all. The cuts are bad, there is too much going on musically and it is too cramped with detail that does nothing to project WSS at all. The dress is also way off. I prefer Akiko Suzuki's version. AND I really LIKE Mariah. I can't believe Rohene came up with this.

I think she could salvage the program if it focused on her being Anita, rather than trying to make her three different characters. She'd be a wonderful Maria and I have no idea why they didn't take that route. It's just poorly edited. It's like a WSS melody rather than a composition that can be understood. Maybe after seeing the response they change back to Last years. Better sooner than later.

I have no idea why RAF OK'ed this.

I believe that was Cindy Stuart, not Rohene.

Your instincts are correct, Rohene did NOT come up with that sorry mess of an LP. He would never do that....:slink:

For whatever reason, Mariah chose not to have Rohene do her choreo this year. She worked with (unknown, Philip Mills?) for her SP and according to IceNetwork, Cindy Stuart for her new LP. Evidently she had two new SPs, neither of which worked, she returned to Roxy. And stuck with this LP.

I will never know why, in an Olympic year, Mariah did not choose to work with Rohene, the choreographer with whom she has had her greatest success. :scratch3:. At least she went back to his SP.

Not sure what your wording and punctuation are intended to mean, but Phillip Mills is not "unknown" as a choreographer. Hope that is not what you meant.

(I have no objection to Mariah's decision to go back to last year's SP.)

On the marketing front:

Ashley Wagner will be part of the USOC 100 Day Countdown to the 2018 OWG. Nov 1 event in NYC.
The other skaters announced (so far) are Davis/White and the Shibutanis.

Also wanted to mention that in Nov 2016, Polina Edmunds took part in a Coca-Cola PyeongChang Winter Olympic Summit.
I have wondered whether she was (or perhaps still is) under consideration for a sponsorship deal with one of the Coca-Cola brands.​

I think that el henry meant unknown, as in she wasn't sure who was the choreographer. She put Phillip Mills cause there was talk she was working with him but there was no definitive info on that.

FWIW:

Merry Neitlich, who is a colleague of Phillip Mills, had posted on social media re his SP for Mariah.
I consider Merry a definitive source regarding his work. YMMV.

I certainly do not want anyone to think that Phillip Mills is unknown; with the comma, I meant to say that the choreographer of Mariah's "new" SP this summer is unknown, but may perhaps be Phillip Mills. My only source for citing him is the Facebook page from the rink where he works (I forget its name), showing Mariah practicing an SP, according to the caption. But I have heard from no other source (there could be one, but I don't know it) that she was working with him. She didn't say in the interview where she said the new SPs she was working on over the summer didn't work out.

ETA: I just saw the links from Merry Neiditch, thx! Perhaps that was the one I saw before, in which case I would say that it does show that Phillip choreographed at least one of her "summer" SPs.
 
I am very relieved to hear that Rohene did not do Mariah's WSS. I love his work with her and Jason etc. I agree with the poster who said she should stick to Maria. I feel pretty, A boy like that, Tonight.....

Didn't see her coming in 2014, as she was new to the scene and unproven - but since then, injury aside she's been consistently in the mix. If she's able to get her jumps (and mindset) back, I've said this more than once - she will be every bit as much of a contender for the Olympic Team as Wagner, Nagasu & Crew. That said, considering her time away, it is a big IF - but certainly within her capability.

And on a similar note, can't totally rule out a surprise from some budding up-and-comer, either (though I do not know how likely that is).
 
Michelle just posted a gorgeous double sal to her instagram. The part of me that was an anxiously hopeful MKF-er until right before the 2010 season still twitches a bit seeing that, even after all these years!

Rohene did not choreograph it. Edit- just realized others have already corrected this, my apologies!
