Alina Zagitova

Who's watching those periscope broadcasts?

I am, though I can’t understand all but 3 words in Russian I can indulge in my love of seeing/hearing it spoken. Russian has such a nice flow and sound.

And it’s great to see them having fun at the Gym on Sambo 70. Kinda like recess at school.

It is amazing, if the dates are correct, how much Alina has grown in little over a year.

Thought to share this here because I never get tired of watching this, it so, great!

Fan cam of Alina's FS from the Olympics, you can really see how much Ice she covered and how well timed her jumps are here. It is shown from a wide angle with no close ups but you can really see how great it really is.

Thank you a lot for this new perspective on Alina's program. Well-deserved standing ovation for our champion! The audience's reaction was great.

Have you seen her short program from Olympics recorded from the top camera? It was on NBC youtube channel, but then they have removed many olympic videos including this one. I regret that i haven't saved that. Her jumps and spins look so amazing from that angle.

P.S. Found some copies with "not so good" quality:

Wow thank you so much for this gem!! Haven’t seen it before.

Her jumps and spins are pure perfection, it’s amazing how great she is at just 15 (or even for a soon to be 16).

Thanks

PS: edited to add: her smile at the end, seen from above = priceless

The triple-triple looked amazing - the effect with the tutu made it almost look like a pinwheel spinning.
Her spins are :hap10:times infinity. What beautifully centered spins - really noticeable between the 2 Olympic rings.

I don't know all the ins and outs of scoring -specifically GOE - but I think the score could have even been higher.

Another great perspective.... Great view of her ice coverage.... not only the timing of her jumps but just about every movement

[BEGINNING OF RANT] - so to the skater who tweets too much but shall remain nameless - if you think the first 2 minutes were "wasting time" - repeat after me "level 4 is better than level 3" :console: [/END OF RANT] (sorry for the RANT but COME ON)

As far as I am concerned what won Alina the Gold Medal wasn't "backloading" - it was her ability to put the "brakes" on the first attempt at the triple-triple AND then performing it beautifully even later in the program. THAT is your Gold Medal moment.

I totally agree with you, Alina won that gold medal on her own merit and several other skaters had fantastic skates at the Olympics. Her talent is being able to keep her cool and execute in a way that makes everything shine. Her skates are like poetry.

Regarding that other skaters comment, I felt really sad about that and the fact that Alina had that comment pointed out to her and had to respond. It sounded a lot like sour grapes and not even a legit critique. When men (basically the only other group where we have people consistently doing the same) do it they are called genius, even by that same person that made that critique.

I hate two weights two measures. I love her performance and recognize her talent and also applaud the men that do the same.

I am too! Pity I can't understand all of it, really wish the subtitles were better! She sounds really cute.

Hope there are periscope videos from 2017 too.

Check out the youtube videos of Alina in the 2016 Russian Junior Championships (Jan) and 2016 JGP France (Aug) - can really see a marked difference in her looks and height/body shape. She really grew and matured in less than a year!

Thanks! This is great! I have watched many videos but never thought to watch one taken from afar. It is really a different perspective. She really looks like a pretty little doll in winter wonderland!

I hope we get to see more periscope videos, I’m super thankful to the peeps that are providing those. And Google auto generated subs are a hoot, it’s worst than picking random words in a dictionary [emoji23][emoji23]I gave up on them because they were so crazy that it became distracting.

Those early championships videos are a gem ❤️❤️ and you can really see how she matured, evolved as a skater and turned into a lovely young lady. She always had that thoughtful air and now I can see her as a secure young woman. It’s nice to see her grow up, and in her programs see how she built on the skills she already had.

Yes, super grateful! The youtube/Google auto-generated subs are just incomprehensible. Some of the periscope videos have Closed Captions - I rely on those; they are ok but only appear at parts. How I wish I speak Russian!

It amazed me how she matured so much in 8 mths!

I love when some of them have caps, then it is well translated and I can learn some Russian, wish I could speak it too and this is a nice way to pick up some of the language.

This video was probably shared here already somewhere on the thread but I'd like to share it again, very early Alina, still in Izhevsk (12y), and I'd like to point out her beautiful arm movements. They are so pretty and perfect. It's also nice to see her early takes on some elements she still performs today.

Seeing this it's not hard to see why she was accepted at Sambo 70, you can definitely see she had the markings of someone special who could really excel at this.

You are all so right and I am happy that I can to share here, with you, my admiration for Alina.:hap93:

I've just seen these funny posts:

Team of Ballerinas (aren't they a cute team? :luv17: ) https://www.instagram.com/p/BhgNShrDE1r/?hl=ro&taken-by=teamzagitova
Fun Team, Alina and Yuzuru, : https://www.instagram.com/p/BhgWSbYjG-J/?hl=ro&taken-by=teamzagitova

Aaaaa I love these.

From watching the gala e could see that Yuzuru had done that to Virtue and Moir but I had no idea that Alina had.

It’s so funny!!

They all had a great time at that gala.

When does Sambo 70 bring in Alina's little sister Sabina to train? 1 year? 2? At some point if Sabina is promising enough I would think Alina would want Sabina in Sambo 70 maybe with Eteri and also have her parents in Moscow too. As olympic champion she may have the clout to ask for this.

Is Alina in her offseason yet?
