Alina Zagitova

Beautiful Alina.... ready for a party?
https://vk.com/photo-97272391_456261309

She looks stunning! What was the occasion? Does anyone know?

Great picture, she looks so beautiful and so happy. Thank you Madison!!

I don't think this picture is from, say, today, but has to be fairly recent. Basing this assumption on her manicure, recently she had that same manicure at Worlds, back in Russia in between (where she showed it off to great detail at the TASS Press Conference) and during the SOI Japan tour. In Korea, for Ice Fantasia, she had a different manicure on. During the Olympics she had a different manicure too.

Alina really is stunning and the fact that she is such a sweet girl and a nice person only makes her more beautiful. Hope she had fun wherever she went to.

Maybe it's from SOI? I don't really know...

Thank you for the manicure research! Maybe a SOI banquet or party for the skaters in Japan? Or the after-party they have for the skaters at Worlds? But how is it possible that are there no other pictures out there on the internet of her with other skaters looking so lovely? :scratch2:

Unless she got a brand new manicure yesterday-ish (that looks a lot like the old one) for a special occasion. :cool14:

Manicure theories aside - You are 100% correct! She is beautiful inside and out with a compassionate heart. :luv17:

Blame my manicure new found expertise on watching a ton of videos these last couple of days, and this particular one is easy to spot because it looks very particular and appeared a lot at that Tass Press thingy, she took a backstage picture showing it off at Worlds (right before her EX) and you can see it really well in all the SOI Japan videos and Press things.

If I had to bet I'd say SOI Japan too, hey people have to eat and I think the organizers would put at least one event together for the skaters (Japanese are such great hosts and they had many international peeps there to perform). At Worlds I'm with you, find it hard to believe she would manage to elude every single picture we've seen from that gala (even in the background) looking so lovely and happy.

Were there any pics of any of the other skaters from SOI or the Legends show in Japan dressed up for any kind of party type thing? I'm just finding it odd that I don't remember seeing any. I can't imagine that none of them would post a picture of themselves looking fabulous with other famous skaters also looking fabulous at an after show event. Then again I don't follow any of them so I could have easily missed seeing them.

Nope, no pictures, but maybe if it happened it was a private event (small, just the group of them, like a dinner) and they sort of agreed to keep it private or no one felt the urge to post. In past years we've had pictures of the group of skaters from SOI Japan at dinners (more dressed up). See here examples from Maia and Alex, who are big on social media interactions: https://www.instagram.com/p/ml6cTIQmww/?tagged=soijapan and https://www.instagram.com/p/msXJeyy7o-/?tagged=soijapan

Say, Kaetlyn Osmond, she posted a few pictures of outings with peeps from the group from SOI on her instagram (more relaxed affairs, dress down types of things, backstage fun like the 3 swans picture with Alina) but she posted no pictures from the Worlds Gala, not one, and she won that.

Maybe it is just the way this particular performing crowd roiled, decided to keep some things private (share more of the backstage fun, trips outside to do sightseeing in Japan, fun and games) and, between the lot of them, maybe there were no really big social media posters.

Thanks, lusk8 :)

Makes sense. Keeping it low key on social media isn't a bad idea. Alina seems to be doing that for sure! I'm so glad she shared that picture though. She looks amazing and I love the shoes!

I think making a rule to forbid something that only one person currently does is a form of prejudice, if they think the program is unbalanced they can use PCS to punish this (and reward the others).

I agree with you that with her ample talents this will not create real difficulties for Alina, she has plenty of rabbits to pull out of her hat. I'd like to see them allowing more triple combos (like, say, 4 in a row) then they really wouldn't know what hit them :laugh:

Wow - that is a great point.... I think at the very least a 3-3-3 combo should be rewarded. If a skater can have an 8-triple program by doing a triple axel then I don't see why it can't be allowed for a 3-3-3 also.

I remember Kurt Browning commenting (Olympics I think) that if they opened up the jumping rules (or something like that) she would be unbeatable.

:) I so need to work on Dom Quixote too, have to find two versions worth the side by side, her Olympic team event performance of it may be one candidate (the combo was performed in its usual place) now I just need to think up a comparison version of that program.

Ideally would like it to be a non-competition one, but then the only version of DQ out of competition that I have is the Russian Post-Olympic celebration Ice Show, with that dark, dark setting and confusing psychedelic kaleidoscope like lights all over the ice, but she fell on that I would like two clean ones to see side by side to do justice to all the artistry and hard work she puts into every single skate.

I vote for European Championships (hopefully there are videos out there) - overall that may have been her best performance of DQ.

And... finally - I have been using the "manicure dating system" also  - it really does help.

Ok, so I finally got around to doing something I've always wanted to see: I synced Alina's Black Swan EX version with her SP version on a side by side video.

Used the Olympic one for the SP version and kept the audio from that (with narrator commentary, because that is just so good I had to keep it there), and I have to say that Alina's consistency is simply amazing, slight changes in some tempos but that is about it. And I can't say slight enough here.

It is on google drive but you can watch the video right there (it has a player) just by clicking on this link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OGbekaVvpFLGqC0yAAVUzDWrxriGrwMw/view

Enjoy! I sure did.

What a great job! - I would have given you a million "thumbs up" if I could.

Amazing how the triple flip in both videos lined up perfectly. The double axel just about matched up too!

Glad you kept the commentary - I already miss Johnny Weir saying "Medvedeva" & "Zagitova" - channeling his "Inner Russian"

My guess is that the picture was taken at the banquet for the World Championships.
If I recall, the day after her long program, one of the things she did was to go shopping in Milan (and that is also when she got the manicure we see in the picture)
That outfit is so stunning - I think she could have bought it in Milan and then worn it to the banquet which was probably March 25th.

Very possible. :) I remember it being mentioned in an interview that the guy from the Russian Skating Federation called and told her to go shopping after the free skate disappointment. Nothing like a little retail therapy in Milan. ;)

Guys, the competitive season ended a month ago and I still find myself almost every day watching either Alina's SP or LP, mostly from the Olympics but the other performances also have this hypnotizing effect on me... Every time I start watching them, I feel like I am watching for the first time and although I know what's coming next, I still feel surprised by the complex and rich step sequences and the dramatic (Black Swan) and joyful (DQ) jumping and spinning parts. And I can't get enough, they just look so satisfying with the music accents and her grace and air and spin positions. I absolutely love these emblematic programs.

I even found an article in Russian that was posted here last year with a translation of Alina's answer to the question what her new SP will be like - The source is http://www.fsrussia.ru/intervyu/302...a-ldu-babushka-podruzhilas-s-kompyuterom.html
And her explanation is: "The story is about how an innocent white Swan was born, which is faced with the cruelty and reality of our world, and gradually turns into what it is necessary for him to be in this world to achieve the result and the knowledge of perfection."

And with time, I got used to her short program and can feel this transformation, I think it fits her personal story and development in the world of figure skating perfectly. Oh and not to mention how I get goosebumps from the moment she does the Charlotte spiral until the big finale. Russians just know how to perform to big music.

By the way, a small observation about Alina's start and end of the season - her first competition was the Lombardia Trophy, she won it and had a good time with Daniil in Milan after her first senior win https://www.instagram.com/p/BZHV4P4lbGR/?taken-by=d_gleikh (People even ship them in the comment section below, lol :D)
And then she goes back to Milan a few months later as the reigning Olympic champion and has her only defeat for the whole season. Isn't it interesting how different and important both events for her carrier are and both of them in Italy? I wish she goes back there for the third time and wins SP and LP! And I wish to be there to witness it :D

And last but not least - it's a great idea to make a channel with the best videos of Alina! I love the head video of Alina doing the combo for the bank commercial but taken from this particular angle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=aKE12fiDcnA Maybe they should have used this footage for the actual commercial but the original is also very impressive.

I love your entire post! You said it so beautifully. There is just something about Alina. And her programs this season were masterpieces. I really hope her programs next season measure up! I have faith that they will :)

I’m glad that she shared some pictures too, I feel that she does what she is comfortable with doing. That’s a relief.

Social media today is a bit of a quick sand, Alina appears to be getting her bearings on this and I think she is a smart and fast learner.

As fans it is great to have many things to enjoy, even more so when we know it is out there because Alina wants it to be.
