You really think to miss that performance if skated at junior worlds or grand prix ?
 
We don't need to see things in the same way.

Some people think that raise the limit may hurt the Russian domain, while i hope to see their better skaters grow, win and skate for more years than actually they do, because of this cycle of 15y old pushed, being hitted by puberty, fight with eating disorders and then trowed away, before growing as skaters, as performers and as woman.

Radionova lost to Japanese (and American?) skaters and CaroK on the GP, not simply Russians. Ditto Tuktamhsheva. Their scores have declined since their peaks, not just their placements, despite a general trend of scoring inflation. It is not just that the new generation is stronger, they have gotten worse.

EDIT: Daleman, though, I grant you, which is why I think we should temper expectations of Orser’s work with Zhenya until we see it.

I believe part of it is that having the kind of internal competition where it is one moment of weakness and you are out of Euros/OG/Worlds can be demotivating. Yuna and Osmond never had to deal with something like that, Osmond's sport is safe and she knows it. She can be in any form whatsoever for Nationals and she still will make it. Russian ladies do not have that luxury. Radionova didn't make the team last season and it had an obvious negative effect on her psyche first of all. She started making the kind of mistakes she hadn't made even in the midst of struggling with puberty. She used to be a fighter and now she's lost it. And the ladies who make it have to be in top form the first half of the season or they simply will not be considered for the main competitions, which unfortunately can lead to weaker performances come the competitions - Sotskova has that problem. 15 year olds have the sort of stamina where they can be in top form the entire season, that gives them an advantage just as much as jumps. Medvedeva lasted that way for two seasons and then her body started breaking down from overload. Being super-consistent doesn't just magically happen, it's due to a kind of training regimen that is not conducive to longevity.

She didn't make it to Worlds in 2016, having placed 3rd at Canadians and had to fight back the next two seasons to make it to Worlds again, where she obviously won silver and then gold. Even this season, she lost at Nationals, but regained her form at the Olympics and Worlds.

I get that the overall field is much deeper in Russia than Canada, but it's not like Kaetlyn Osmond hasn't ever faced home pressure or setbacks.

Yep, exactly.
You know, they don't really broadcast junior competitions on TV, and the people who watch the youtube streams are actually *surprise* a very small part of figure skating audience.

Trusova's fan fest on this forum has more pages than Kostner's fan fest: 32 vs 30. Just saying ^^
Osmond has 44 vs 281 for Zagitova ;)

We all know what people like ;)

To be fair...Kostner's been around so long that most of her fanbase is probably part of a generation that doesn't know how to internet...

Dude, Medvedeva has not even reached 19. And she landed everything in her 2 lastest competitions so far. Do you have the ability to tell the future? Do you know if Hanyu and Medvedeva will get married and their kid will be the first to land a Quint?

Like ? What about pay for ? More younger are people and more quickly got impressed and bored by things. Most internet trend work just that way, over the most pointless things of the world.

Trusova has archive something remarkable with jumps, but more as an athlete than as a complete skater. Her skating is still very childish and Big Spender was a questionable choice for her SP, in so many ways.

Senior skating is, or at least should be, something else.
 
I just realized that I have contributed to the canadian economy few years ago (also to few other countries) :biggrin: That wasn't the tax payers' money though :laugh:
So i'm not guilty i guess :biggrin:
 
I mean if you really think about it, having a champion athlete is actually contributing to the economy. I presume Russia taxes her endorsements, prize money, and money earned at shows (at home and abroad)? In this way it may actually be in the country’s financial interest to pay for foreign training if it provides a better opportunity to win prize money and gain endorsements. Also, the foreign exposure may create more business opportunities. Look how popular Zhenya is in Japan. I’m not sure this will translate to Canadian/US popularity but it can’t hurt.

I think their reluctance with funding her is that at this time Orser is an unproven entity in terms of training Russian figure skating champions. However if he and Zhenya are able to outperform Eteri’s girls in the upcoming years you’ll see a lot more kids undergoing foreign training. But I’m not sure how likely that is.
 
^ You forgot about all the foreign fans who might come to watch Med at Rostelecom, or her ice shows. Exposure isn't a bad thing at all.

So Veronika Zhilina actually got a 3Flip before her 10th birthday(Happy late birthday... It was yesterday)! You know, I always thought that the toe jumps were a weakness of hers, but that actually has very good height and the technique is excellent. Also as a bonus, notice who the other skaters are?

The view of landing in this 3F was actually blocked by a skater so we don't actually know how rotated it is.
I do notice Kostornaya from the video (she looks so tall in comparison:rofl:)
