Alina Zagitova

Lovely. But Alinka is still growing and shes growing right out of that dress! I am hoping her height tops out at 5'4" tall.

Hahaha, fun fact. Someone made a "fake" account to comment just on the length of what she was wearing, then I think a fight began with other defending her, and Alina actually answered the troll: with a fun smiley face saying she was wearing shorts. So not a dress.

Really? Alina had the perfect humorous reply. She is funny and mature.

"New" video with Alina, probably got from old Dasha's translations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KOH3mpcLB8 after Grand Prix Final 2017
you can see back story of this photo https://www.instagram.com/p/BcfIpJWAEhN/?taken-by=azagitova

1. all toys are gifts to Alina (only 3 to Dasha to be exact)
2. Alina shared room with Masha Sotskova. Dasha - with Nastya Tarakanova
3. All girls very liked hand-made card with little images of Alina

Are these gifts from fans? Alina will need a huge house for all the gifts she receives. ;) Sabina will get alot of hand me down toys! :agree: Seriously I hope Alina who cant possibly keep all of the stuffed animals and toys gives them to childrens hospitals and adoption centers because kids at these places need the joy of toys.

From one Olympic champion to another Olympic champion
Aljona is my all time favourite sportswoman, she has a super fighting spirit but is also so kind to other figure skaters, the role of a Big Momma suits her so well!

And good luck to Alina with learning Geography! I absolutely hated it when I was at school

The official ISU calendar of competitions and challenger series dates are out: https://www.isu.org/inside-single-p...ications-fs/17107-isu-communication-2161/file

Last year Alina when to the Lombardia (which this year will be Sept 12-16) do you think she'll go there again? Or do any challenger series competition? There is also a Shanghai Trophy (Sept 29-Oct 1) but that is not part of the challenger and is by invitation only.

What are your picks? I think she might do one of the challenger events, since she did it last year. Wonder is China will invite her to the Shanghai Trophy, was kind of hoping they would.

Wow - I'm embarassing myself - but I don't much about the competitions before the GP series!

I used to think they were competitions that the lesser known skaters entered, but then I looked up Lombardia and saw that Alina, Wakaba Higuchi, and Carolina Kostner all medaled there last year. Then again - last year Alina & Wakaba would have been "lesser known" and Carolina probably skates there because it is in Italy.

I remember when the GP series allowed skaters to enter THREE and not just two GP events (only 2 - which were pre-selected - counted towards standings for making the GP Final). I have always believed that the more competitions the better so normally I would think that something like Lombardia would be good, but I'm still not sure.

Positives - very early in season - and a chance to debut new programs, get feedback - both with the programs, but also with how the ISU will actually implement any scoring changes.

Negatives - this is going to be a very hectic year (yeah - I know they all are ) but the training dynamic has changed with Evgenia leaving, Alina most likely has gone through growth spurts and may have to make some adjustements to jump techniques, and I would hate for her to not be 100% ready to kick a## in September and under-perform there. Especially since her last competition of this past season did not go well.

I don't know anything about Shanghai Trophy - from what I looked up I think they only perform the LP - so not too keen on this one.

I just hope her GP assignments will be evenly spaced.

Seeing the schedule - I would love it if she got Skate America and NHK Trophy. But I know its not as simple as that!

Anyway those are my thoughts, for whatever they're worth.

Kristi Yamaguchi's thoughts on raising the age for seniors....

Raising age to 18 would be so detrimental to our sport. It’s exceptional for a lady to increase revolutions in the air after puberty. Men, a different story. But we want to see the best technically and artistically compete at Worlds no matter what their age. I’m w/@SarahHughesNY

Sarah Hughes' thoughts on the matter....
“Skaters develop at their own pace - some earlier, some later,” Hughes wrote on Twitter. “Should skaters who develop earlier be penalized by not being allowed to compete at the highest level?

“We also have to remember how expensive it is to skate and the sacrifice the skater - and entire family - makes for one to compete and stay involved in the sport. It’s a cost (time and money) that can’t always be maintained for an extended amount of time.”
