Alina Zagitova

Well, I just spent three days in The Edge threads and I can't anymore, it is destroying you personality. I couldn't help with those issues on the ISU congress to express my thoughts about it but not anymore. I'm back here with normal people and nice topics for discussion ;)

I‘ve never taken a look to those threads. What happened? :o

Join forces, yes! But... just to send a letter? Who needs letters, we‘ll directly storm to Russia and demand news.

I'm in, for sure  I always wanted to visit Russia; and meeting with Tutberidze team..now that would be something to remember

Mathilde ? This one ?

I love it :luv17: I've read that it's a quite controversial movie, but the music is really good and Alina could have such a gorgeous program on it

Welcome back, flanker. Here is a video to cheer you up :luv17:

Nothing specific (although in the neighbouring thread they are depicting it as instant Zhenya's hating threads which is definitely not true), but it's like... a different life. It's not that the tension is much higher there (also arguing is common), but nothing that I wouldn't expect or what would be different from other forums. But it's just a lot of it, its eating time and life. I became fan of figure skating because it calms me, gives me nice impressions, not because of spending days in the middle of discussions if backloading should or should not be rewarded etc. :)

I completely know what you mean.

Those people never talk just facts and numbers.

All they ever have to say is how terrible, unfair, horrific and abominable the judges are. But never actual facts.

Suddenly, “balance” is the most important thing ever. Because why? Because they don’t like the winner. They can’t accept it. Someone tries something new to push the boundaries? They can’t fathom it. How contemptible!

We call these people reactionaries. Nothing more, nothing less. I wouldn’t waste my energy on them.

Please write the word "balance" only in capital letters

Welcome back to the lighter side.

I always lurk in some of The Edge's forums (mostly the Russian ladies one and now the ISU Congress because I wanted to know what was being discussed), but these last few days have been impossible to read some stuff, I'm sticking to my special place a.k.a. right here.

Yeah, let‘s all buy a ticket to Russia and make a group visit to Team Tutberidze and our Olympic Champion! And to our Olympic Doggo, too, of course!

And on the music topic: It would sure make people talk if they choose music from a controversial movie. But I don‘t care, Eteri gave a thirteen year old Candyman, this can‘t be any worse. And besides, the music‘s really beautiful, not like Candyman. (Sorry if I just insulted somebody else‘s tastes here.)

 Her expression is like: „Wait what, did I just win the Olympics?“

Yep, Alina, you did!

Oh, I completely understand that! I usually hang around in the fandest threads just because there‘s such a nice atmosphere here. Zhenya fanfest, Alina, Alena, Caro, Kaetlyn, Polina... There‘s no time for discussing backloading, I have important fan business to fulfill. No, seriously, just stay here, the only thing we (or I won‘t because I‘m terrible at maths) do is discussing possible layouts so very calm indeed. And watching figure skating calms me, too. Unless it‘s the Olympics and Alina and Zhenya are on the ice. Then it‘s excitement pure!

Exactly. That doesn't mean that there are not interresting topics and opinions (and absolutely opposite also :) ) but there is too much of everything for me :)

Oh. Lol, I guess I never got that the Russian thread is in the Edge forum. Don‘t say anything, I know, I‘m stupid sometimes. :dumb: Yeah, well, the Russian thread does the same to me, to be honest. I guess it’s just not for me, too much... well, I wouldn‘t say hate but excessive nitpicking on minor topics.

I usually read it for informative value on other Russian Ladies, and now the rule changes too, I like that they rarely talk about Alina, because when they do....let's just say I don't agree with it at all.

3S 2A 2A 2Lz+2Lo | 3Lz+3T+3Lo 3Lz+3Lo 3F

I think that adding a 3F+3T would gain her the most (9.50 BV and 10.45 BV with 10% bonus).

Not quite sure what you're trying to say here... the statement to me lacks context... there are rules that have to obeyed and it's important to have a realistic layout... which means there needs to be one empty solo jump(or a triple-double that's easy to alter) in the bonus in case something goes wrong. There is more to be gained by switching out the 2T for a 2Lz than is lost by switching from a 3F to a 3Lo as the repeated jump. You can't have two 3Lz and two 3F in the bonus without using a connecting single loop while 2 3Lz and two 3Lo is doable. And so what should be compared is the 3Lo in the bonus vs a 3F not in the bonus.

Going in a slightly OT tangent that just came to my mind, with only 3 jumps passes, the only way to get all triples in the bonus is something like: 3Lz+3T+3Lo 3F+3T 3S+3Lo... it can only be done if the repeated jumps are 3T and 3Lo and not the flip or lutz... so kind of pointless from a points perspective. [edit] the only jump layout I think it would make sense to do this is: 4S 4T 3A 2A | 3Lz+3T+3Lo 3F+3T 3S+3Lo

This is a very beautiful piece. However, I am afraid that it doesn't match Alina's artistry yet . It requires a feeling for the music and at the same time enough maturity to convert those feelings into body movements. Also, her program will be full of transitions (I am fan of those!) and I can't really imagine how those will go well with the calmness of the music. From team Tutberidze Alena and maybe Anna would be perfect for it. That said, if it turns out that this is Alina's music I will totally give her a chance and will wait patiently up until the end of the season when she will have mastered the program. She is capable of maxing out her presentation and skating skills, it's just a matter of time.

To the discussion tht Fluture and TheBallerina were having a couple of pages back about Alina's EX program for this next season:

I actually like her current one quite a lot (I know I'm the minority on this), it is an unusual piece of music and she really grew to own it this past season. She is performing it better and better. If they are going to let it go I can see them using Black Swan as an EX for her, that costume alone is heaven. On the minus side to this strategy, she already used it some, as a second EX on the LG Ice Show this year and on Carnival on Ice in 2017.

Eteri and Daniil like to play with EX pieces and Eteri mentioned that she likes to use that opportunity as a place for the skater to experiment (with music they like, say) and be more free. Now that Alina has all this positive energy from a great senior season and an Olympic Gold Medal maybe she will want to use that as a chance to showcase her tastes.

She is getting a lot of mileage on these Ice Shows and has been in high demand this year (getting top billing and all that), she might use a new EX piece after all, depending on how things evolve with her new programs for the season of course.

Here is Black Swan from Carnival on Ice 2017 in case anyone missed it when it was broadcast https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWWkydh034o

Thank you for providing me with information and for indulging me. I was just looking at things from a math perspective not a "realistic what can actually be done, would make sense" side. Just math for math's sake since my actual knowledge of figure skating layouts is very, very, very small.

Since the 3F increased in BV it became more valuable points wise. Looking at her history (of jumps she made and GOE she got for them, as single jumps and as combos) the 3F is the only jump she got a 2.10 GOE on (as a single, at her SP during the Olympics), her only other jump to get GOE of 2.00 was her 3Lz (as a single, FS for the Olympic Team event). This leads me to think that she is good at both of them so that got me down that rabbit hole, of maxing something using a 3F too.

And, once more, thank you for your great explanation.

Who did Eteri give "Candyman" to and was it a competitive program or an exhibition?

Big spender was Trusova's SP this past season...Eteri always putting the fun back in dysfunctional... (no idea about Candyman tho)

I agree with you 100%.

I would like something that Alina will be comfortable with and is age-appropriate (as Dick Button would say).

I am hoping for something that will tap into the lyrical side of her skating. Give her room to "breathe" and hold the positions.

I know I am repeating myself - but I am hoping someday that extended spiral sequences are given importance again.

Just as her spins are excellent, I know that her spirals would be great too!

You can see glimpses with the Charlotte Spiral in Black Swan - but here it is used more as the first transition into her double axel.

I actually liked Trusova's "Big Spender" SP a lot - but would have preferred no lyrics (in this regard I'm a snooty "purist" :drama:)

Even though the LP had the quads and got all the "buzz" - I thought the SP was the gem - as the jumps really went with the music.

Aww I feel bad 😔
As the OP for the Russian ladies’ thread I’m sad at how it’s divided us so much when we need to stick together to protect ourselves from everyone else anyway

And later on when all the tension about Zhenya is hopefully over, I’d invite you all to try it again. Normally, it’s a very nice place

But perhaps the fanfests are more guaranteed nice. Which I definitely appreciate 🤗
