Yuna Kim

Oh, thanks! But Mao wasn't called. :drama: Maybe no protocol for it back then (-GOE given).

That's probably the case. Although the fact that Raf had to correct it can be because she was getting -GOE at some point, or at least was recognized a bad technique. (Perhaps check the 2006 protocols, or was that the time they already corrected it?)

(On the other hand, I didn't know that Yuna did a 3T-3T before  )

She did and it was perfect!

I honestly haven't seen it.

And...found it! Have to admit that I haven't watched her 2005 version of PCYHM? and I didn't realize she had a 3T-3T and not a 3F-3T.

Looking at her protocols back in the junior days though, I honestly wished she maintained her 3F-3T, so she can still have her 3Lz-2T-2Lo, which will give her room to include her 2A-3T post Vancouver. Although I ain't really doing the maths when I say this. Only that aesthetically speaking, her 2A-3T and 3F-3T are just incredible not be seen.

I think I mentioned it here before, I was doing a video collection of Yuna's jumps(just WCs and Olympics) with GOEs. I actually uploaded the video without the GOE for that FS because it wasn't available on the ISU website, but recently I noticed a mistake in another part of the video and decided to edit it again. I thought maybe this time the page would be working but apparently this is a lost cause. :ohwell:

By any chance, does anyone knows where to find 2005 JW protocols for the Ladies FS?
It should be here: http://www.isuresults.com/results/wjc2005/WJC05_Ladies_FS_Scores.pdf
But it isn't.

Oh, thanks! But Mao wasn't called. :drama: Maybe no protocol for it back then (no -GOE given either).

There is no video of the QR, but Mao did attempt the 3F/3T and it was ratified in the QR. She also attempted the 3A in the QR and it was downgraded to a 2A.

The method of communicating downgrades in the protocols back then was confusing as they listed the jump that it was downgraded to (versus the more current method of listing the jump that was attempted with a downgrade symbol like < or <<).

Mao's 3F/3T was downgraded in the FS and listed as a 3F/2T.

Ah, so they were just called as downgrades. I didn't know that about downgrades, either. Thanks, jaylee!

Also, we're at page 400!

Wow.... such conservative GOEs. I wish I could time travel back to those days. :drama:

Not really Yuna Kim news, but there will be another upcoming ice show to be headlined by Canadian skaters (mostly retired sans Kaetlyn) as a thank you to their fans. Scott said in his interview post ATS that he wanted Yuna to also perform in Canada someday. I'm not sure if they have enough money to include Yuna here, or if they will invite her, or if she will accept, but it would be nice to see her perform in this particular ice show, and fittingly if she will in London, ON stop over.

It would be really great!

Interesting... well if she is going to do it, doubt it would be for the money. Just like skating. Really she should not have to skate anymore after Vancouver, but for Korea youngsters and the new goal she set for herself, she did.

Canada is like her 2nd home for many years, and they really love her there. Wonder if she enjoyed her return to the ice, putting a show together. If she did, maybe we will see her outside Korea one day... skating! That would be really amazing!

Hahha barely get +2s hahahah, Zero +3s. See that is how it shoud be, none of today's none sense. Because it dimnishes the importance of PCS. Although on the other hand, PCS has become a joke too...

Not really about whether she will ask for payment, but just the additional overhead cost like flight and accommodation, since it seems to be just a lowly financed tour unlike SOI. Also, too bad they are not doing a Vancouver stop over. That would have been much better.

Heh -- can we redo with Sochi Ladies with new GOE + 67% than before :drama: J.K...

LOL, I know you meant it as a joke but I did recalculate the scores in the Sochi ladies (or at least between Yuna and Adelina). Placement won't change, although the difference in score did shrink to ~3 (since Adelina's edge is really not about her BV, but more on her higher GOE+PCS). What's interesting is that both she and Yuna actually broke Yuna's Vancouver record. So the GOE refactoring is tremendous. If this is how they changed the rules post-Vancouver and not the other way around, her Les Miserables could be her highest scoring program (as it should be!)

Ahh haaaa..... but some of these are a matter of +5 vs +2 (+1 home bonus) at most... so, not so easy!
Although I must admit, if Adelina get bunch of +5s and Yuna get +3s from at least 2 of the judges, then the slant would look even more obvious. I wonder if we will see some of these 'close calls' in the new season favouring the home skaters.

In some ways GOEs makes it easier for judges to rank skaters, but it also exposes their biases more.

Is it just me or Yuna would easily get +5s in most of her jumps(perhaps just not the salchow) under this new GOE guidelines?
I think the “first three bullets must be fulfilled to get +4 or +5” should make most skaters just get +3 max. But something tells me that’s not what’s gonna happen... [emoji23]

Heh of course they dialed the common sense back with a vengeance now she is retired... they relaxed GOE rewards and depreciated quality by 30% because of her... imho... that might as well be known as the Yuna rule.

If she has the judges by her side she should be hitting those +4/5 GOEs for her toe jumps and 2As easily and wouldn't really raise eyebrows

ETA: And the YunaKim forum is truly gone, no? I'm not sure who admin'ed the place but I just want to say thank you to them. A really great place to gather information about Yuna. Truly thankful for all the effort! :o:
