2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

What do y'all think about the new base values. They lowered Lz to 5.9, Lo to 4.9, S to 4.3 and T to 4.2. But the flip... the flip remains at 5.3. I think it is absolutely ridiculous, why not make it 5.1 then?

Are they trying to pull up some flutzer(s?) we have here...

it may well be :)

Wrong edge on Lutz -> repeat flip and loop:
-0.1 for Lutz, -0.4 for Loop, total -0.5

Wrong edge on Flip -> repeat lutz and loop:
-0.2 for Lutz, -0.4 for Loop, total -0.6

Correct edges on everything -> repeat Lutz and Flip:
-0.2 for Lutz, -0.2 for Loop, total -0.4

The greatest benefit is for skaters who have correct edges on both jumps and repeat both.

Ah, but this does also essentially require a -3Lo combo.

I think that Radionova always had unfortunate timing. Missing the Olympics by half a year - She could have been Lipnitskaya. ...

Is being compared to Lipnitskaya a good or bad thing? I'm being serious. It seems like there's more sentimentality around Yulia than her actual results justify. Yes, her skates in the TEAM event at Olympics were wonderful, but that was essentially the peak of her career.

Unfortunately the Olympics is what makes the sport cruel and to a large degree fascinating. If the Olympics had happen '17 or '16, Medvedeva is the unquestioned Queen and no Eteri breakup drama. It's the inability of the ladies to have any longevity that makes you hope a lady skater's best year happens to fall on an Olympic year. Lipnitskaya, Hughes, Sotnikova ... their one good year in the Olympics has essentially defined their legacy.

i think what Tyranid meant was the fact that flutzers now will receive less punishment

I don't really know about that, GOE's impact will be greater and flutz will(should) affect GOE. If we're talking about base value and e, the difference would be 0.03 points.

I meant that it hurts skaters that prefer to repeat the Lz and the Lo (22.2 -> 2.16, .8 pt drop) in relation to skaters who repeat F and T or F and Lo (19.2 ->19 / 20.8 -> 20.4, .2 and .4 pt drop). Perhaps the ISU wants to see skaters with correct edges on both the Lutz and the Flip. But in that case, it doesn't make sense to lower the Lz BV.

More importantly, the reasoning for the Flip preference was not provided by the ISU meaning that we can only hypothesize, like I did above. The quad and throw jump BV change was explained and discussed before. Nobody ever talked about the 3Lz, 3F and 3Lo, however.

Either make the Flip 5.1 or keep the Lutz 6.0, one or the other. Or did the Flip suddenly become a harder, more expensive jump. Okay, but where in the world is the explanation, dear ISU??

I still like her and every time I see her, I shout in my mind: "get your ... back on ice, Adelina!". :confused2:

TBH I dont want her to be back on ice.
She would be there already if she wanted, a long time ago. If she comes back, it will be likely same as we already had after Olympics, which means she will take the place of some other girl in the team, and only skate well at Mordovian Ornament.

but get thin before that
I think she's sporty type and could get in shape without radical diet pretty quickly. Besides, like Tuktamysheva and unlike many other girls, she has fantastic vertical jump that she can always rely on.
