2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

We really need this on podiums upcoming season... :drama::love:

Which podium exactly? If she‘s staying in juniors: 4th place if they‘re generous. Senior? Should be better than at Worlds if she lands everything. I like Stasya. Just wish she had started skating earlier, she has lots of talent but to catch up with others if you start years later... isn‘t that easy.

Grand Prix podiums of of course. I agree with all you wrote about - late bloomers have it tough. :(
Some spoiled fans just don't appreciate having an adult, in-shape, charismatic skater in Russian senior ranks enough.

So Tursynbaeva is apparently sharing a room with Trusova. I guess Eteri is testing whether quad skills are transmitted by air.

I think it has more to do with her actual results, accomplishments and skating ability and which skaters she's replacing than a lack of appreciation for something that doesn't matter for skating, especially when I'm going to disagree on charisma. Starting late is no excuse and no reason for special treatment - She just should have started earlier.

Both Tsurskaya and Gubanova have lose a chance, to be and medal at Worlds and JWorlds respectively, because of the fed choice to push Kostantinova. If the fed should compensate, they are the ones with a credit.

Well, I certainly enjoy having an adult, charismatic Russian skater in senior but the thing is: Last season, Stasya stayed in juniors thus „robbing“ other skaters of their chances. She should have moved up to seniors. And also, there‘s just the fact that she might be charismatic and have a great presence on the ice but... well, others simply have better jumps than her. That‘s possibly because she started late but as much as I like her, I don‘t want her to take spots from the likes of Polina. It‘s nobody‘s fault she started skating late and Stasya surely isn‘t to be blamed for all this and I‘d very much like her to see her at GP events but Worlds, Europeans etc... other skaters with more medal potential should be sent.

Personally, seeing her live in Milan I honestly thought she really lacked charisma. On the technical side, there are plenty superior skaters in Russia, both in seniors (Zagitova, Medvedeva, Tsurskaya, Sotskova and others) and in juniors (pretty much everyone)

Lacks in charisma for sure and doesn't have any musicality to speak of  Skating's about much more than being beautiful and mature(Only in looks) and that definitely shouldn't be the decider for roster spots.

In GP events she can skate for all I care, but:

1. Such a "mature, adult skater" shouldn't have been taking Gubanova's jr worlds spot considering how badly Gubanova needed a good result from there - If she really is so mature, what was she doing skating with children? And:

2. A skater with a very inconsistent record in GP / world championship-level competitions shouldn't be sent to world championships as her first senior-level competition(Challenger series don't count).

I wouldn't even be so bothered with her if she didn't get overscored through the roof in domestic competitions. As we can see by her international scoring, this really is some fantasy of the Russian fed's.

+100
Also if we want a mature, adult skater, Pogo wins this by far over Stasya.

And yeah, tbh I just cannot appreciate her because of the scores she get domestically (and because of how TAT walked out during gubanova's performance at juniors).

Speculations about Konstantinova's beauty seems too fanatical - her body shape is far from perfect, waist and hips aren't every young woman's dream i.e. the body type is too "rectangular" so Alina in comparison with Stanislava is a Goddess. The face is pretty and has chiseled features but remember Alisa Fedechkina whose face is more nice and is example of 100% Russian type of beauty:

I don't think all this discussion on who is the fairest of all is constructive or meaningful. And it's in bad taste to say x is better because x is pretty or y is worse because y is ugly. It's rude.

Haha...

As much as I love Nastya I’d really get a kick out of Tat doing it again this season

Honestly...walking out on her is a step in the right direction. Far better than calling her Swan “a Duck” 🦆

That's why I really dislike TAT's hypocrisy with Gubanova and even doing choreo for her. She thrashes her publically, walks out on her performance, calls her fat etc. and now she's trying to act so friendly, a very appalling person she is.

I wonder where Fedichkina's instagram disappeared. I was thinking that she's probably the most beautiful Russian skater. I also would say that Alexandra Proklova is way up there even though she's retired.

Sorry, but WTF?! Just because Stasya was overscored and got spots the other juniors deserved more, doesn‘t mean we suddenly have to discuss whether she‘s considered too beautiful or not. And besides that, not everyone likes her just because she‘s pretty?? That‘s exactly why figure skating fans are getting accused of being shallow and the sport being more of a beauty contest!!

I don‘t care whether Stasya‘s body type is „ too rectangular“ or not or whether „her waist and hips aren‘t every woman‘s dream“ And I also don‘t care whether Alina‘s more beautiful or not. 1) everyone has flaws 2) They are ALL still young, beautiful, talented ladies, so we shouldn‘t compare them like that to each other. Stasya is beautiful in her own way and so are Alina, Alisa and all the others.

Sorry but I just can’t with such comments. They just seem incredibly shallow.

We should be talking about Figure skating, not making comparisons between teenage girls to see who is prettier. It’s just wrong.
