Alina Zagitova

This and That: 2018 Grand Prix Assignments with Meagan Duhamel
( they are talking about Alina GP, Carmen , POTO and Eteri)

Do they say anything interresting and nonbiased? To be honest I've never been able to listen them for longer time, as they always had quite stupid comments not only about Eteri, but about Alina too (and about Zhenya that time, I don't know how are they with her now).

About Carmen as a LP for Alina - I think it's a good choice for her. Eteri has very strategic thinking when it comes to skating programs and she knows very well that most people think that Alina's weak spot is artistry (I don't agree with this, it's just that being Kitri in DQ doesn't give a big opportunity to express drama and feelings, it's just the type of storyline. Of course Black Swan and Anna Karenina would be much more dramatic characters). So she chooses something that gives Alina the opportunity to show character, playing a bit with the audience.

We were worried that she will get 2 new programs and that it could be overwhelming for her - well, Carmen is again a Spanish theme, she is used to the specifics of this type of skating so there is a mild change but still there is a common element with her old LP. So that Alina feels comfortable with it and not starting from zero in terms of arm positions, getting used to the specific beat of music etc.

Seeing the short videos from Daniil, especially the one with the dramatic pose when she is turning, I think his version of Carmen will be inspired from the ballet Carmen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDMcWSYali8
Especially at 2:01 you can spot the foot position of the ballerina, pointing to the ceiling just like Alina's. I think his mother will again be helpful and will prepare Alina for this choreography.
If Alina manages to look and dance like Vishneva, all the PCS points will be hers. ^^

And the fact that they decided to announce the program so early, knowing that the other skaters will find out about this, they did it on purpose. Maybe to make them assume that Alina's program will be a boring warhorse and not to see her as a threat? Or to 'make a reservation', so to say, so that nobody decides to use Carmen this year? I don't know, but Eteri and her team use their brains when doing something and that's why they are now rewarded for it. (:

I think I know her....

Was there a picture of her a couple of weeks ago holding Masaru?
I don't know about that (haven't seen the picture), but, even if she did, she (Alexandra Stepanova) is not just a girl who was holding Zagitova's dog at some point. She is an ice dancer together with Ivan Bukin. They have been the Russian number two ice dancing team for some seasons, and will be the number one team now if Bobrova/Soloviev have really retired. They have also been having some pretty good results internationally (won bronze at Europeans last season), and are not some unknowns if you follow ice dancing at all.

It's also one of Alenka's favorite books. https://ask.fm/kostorka323/answers/148121532963

Гарри Поттер, Агата Кристи , 3 Мушкетера, Алые Паруса, Гоголь( любые произведения)

I'm assuming I'm the last man on Earth who haven't read Harry Potter yet  I also can't read detective stories, it's professional deformance for me (I must confess - I'm graduated at police university, please don't be too harsh on me  ). As for the rest, good taste

Read that Alina’s father is moving to Kazan to coach. Is this a bigger opportunity / better team? Hope that Alina’s success brings bigger opportunities for her family too! Googled and I see that Kazan is still pretty far from Moscow so looks like it will still be Alina with Grandma (and the zoo!) for a while more.

That explains that visit with the Kazan Minister of Sports and others, and that desk full of family dossiers we could see on one of the pictures. Hope this is a great opportunity for him as he deserves it, he is such a great Dad.

It's been mentioned (don't know if it's been confirmed) that Sabina will be going to Moscow, so maybe Alina's Mom is moving there too to help Grandma with the girls, the Zoo, and the new apartment.

Don't forget - a "closer inspection" showed that he had a dossier on Masaru too

Is Ivan Bukin related to Andrei Bukin of "Bestemianova and Bukin"?
