2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Also: new interview of Liza Tukta. She talks about her feelings about the olympics, injuries and getting back in shape for next season. An interesting read https://fs-gossips.com/elizaveta-tuktamysheva-im-definitely-not-ready-to-quit-figure-skating/

She also talks about rooting for Zhenya at the Olympics

"By the way, for whom did you root at the Olympics? Kostner?

– For Zhenya Medvedeva. I think that she deserved this gold medal more than anyone else."

About not being ready to retire

"What exactly are you afraid of in relation to leaving sports?

– I don’t know. Finishing of the career seems to me as very serious and significant step for the athlete. And a very difficult. Whatever one may say, it’s still parting with the most intense and interesting stage of life, which required total dedication for many years. Maybe I will miss the adrenaline, people I’m surrounded by. When I start to think that the end of a career is actually just around the corner I become very sad. It is difficult to accept. Therefore while I try not to think about that."

And her excitement about the next season

"How can you describe your condition before the open test skates? Is it excitement, fear that the new season has almost come or anticipation?

– There is some excitement, I want to show my programs to the leaders of the federation and to the public as soon as possible. Moreover, I think I’m in a very good shape. That’s why we decided to take part in the test skates that took place in St. Petersburg."

Those are the few highlights of the interview, the rest is worth reading too

oh! you changed your display picture. I wondered for one second "who's the new panda" user? until i saw your name

I’ve always used Yulia avatars but after she retired and when competition season starts I often go to a panda. The only other person who I’ve used as an avatar was Anastasia Tarakanova. Someone made THIS into an avatar for me and I just had to use it. I’m sure Yulia wouldn’t mind ;)

Here is the Greatest Avatar ever IMO

But enough about me

I think it's just Russian team test skates which are this weekend. But... if Moscow team has their own, then I'm not sure.

Ekaterina? I didn't think she was still with AOP.... actually maybe she is, since she had that nasty split from Davydov.

Sorry, Liza, but the fact that someone can do 3Lz+3L at the end of the program, doesn't mean that this skater can't do "beautiful skating".

Also Ekaterina Ryabova could fight for bronze from Angels of Plushenko competing for AZE

It's not happening, I am afraid. It will be the same case as was with Kuzmenko in Linz skating for France - judges just wouldn't let her. ISU doesn't want infinite russian podiums everywhere

We have an excellent excuse. There is our weakness, our heavy burden, our curse - the boooooys [pronounced in a tragic, dramatic whisper]

Do you guys know if Polina & Daria will be at test skates? i'm really excited to see Polina programs soon

I read that the one on the 9th is the free skate and the short will be a few days prior.

Does anyone know if this is true? ;)
They're going to have a Camp in Novogorsk for a few days prior the test skates. Most likely they will skate SP there but it's going to be closed to the public.

wouldn't people manage to sneak in and record it for us? from what i recall, the junior test skates was supposed to be closed to the public too but we were blessed :)

no, it's a kind of different. In Juniors there were official schedule. date and time. Even warm-up groups.
There're nothing like that for the Seniors. Most likely they will skate it in training mode.

Anfisa Ryabova posted a picture of her in what appears to be a hospital but didn't say anything about why or when she'd be released. Get well soon  :(

Polina Tsurskaya.
SP music: "And the Waltz Goes on" by Anthony Hopkins
FP music: "Leningrad" by William Joseph; "Prodigy" by Kotaro Nakagawa; "Live Or Die" by X-RayDog.

so happy to finally have news on her programs! I hope she kills it this season now that she's seemingly in a better place for herself. She's gonna be at test skates this 9th right?

Not a fan of the SP....I hope there's more than meets the eye.
