2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

no. It's a sport and should stay this way.
It should not become a political and PR crap and wars.

Lol. You're talking about a sport where all the federations engage in politicking which much of Med and Zagitovas PCS inflation owed to. That ship has long sailed.

Well what can I say about our Tiny Boss. Everything was flawless as expected, and she is looking better than ever.

Sinitsyna also delivered. Visible mistake on the 3F but still managed 67 range, same as Tarusina and Kanysheva. They reworked the choreography of this program and put her in more mature dress and I have to say I like it. I don't think she is in danger of losing silver. The question is will she be clean and where will her score be in relation to the other 2nd placers.

So I remember some people said that Ryabova who skates for Aze is impossible to be in TOP3 because she's of Russian heritage...
Today Anastasia Arkhipova is the 3rd one and she's of Russian heritage
As for Ryabova it's her own fault that she's so low. After her SP I started to worry about Tarakanova more..

That's harassment, which can be tried in the court of law.

Don't try to conflate apples with oranges.

Oh well. Another double standarts. Because Liza can express her very-very important opinion about other skaters, but people can't express their opinion about Liza's opinion. Why am I not surprised?

I'm bummed not to see Ryabova skating in the final group. Fall on the 3F but I felt her performance was very good and deserved higher PCS. She had some other little issues. The 2A was < and StSq1?? Anyone know what happened there?

This is no double standard. People attacking her on her instagram page is not expressing an opinion! Are you even being serious at this point? I have no problem with people stating calmly and rationally that they didn‘t like her comment. But attacking and insulting her directly is NOT comparable in any way!

Looks like any little mistake Evgenia makes at test skates, or throughout this season, will bring plenty of Eteri fans out of the woodwork to bash Evgenia and Brian as inferior to Alina and Eteri.

I don't know why so people have to have an "us versus them" mentality. Nationalism creates unnecessary hostility.

"The first emotion I had when I read the new rules is that they were made to favor skaters whose main quality is mature and beautiful skating. And not lutz-rittberger at the very end of the program":

I don’t mean to beat down a dead horse or be argumentative. I just do not see much calmness or rationality in this statement. Sounds like the definition of an “insult”.

The problem is that Zhenya is nothing if not consistent and able to handle pressure. Alina has a history of mistakes in competition and now has the pressure to counter all the “Zhenya deserved to win!” I want them both to succeed but I actually suspect this season may belong to Zhenya.

Thanks, Dante. That is very sweet of you to say. I do, unfortunately, resemble Buddha in slightly less than flattering ways (his tummy). I'm working on it though.

I'm glad Sam's wife is no longer depressed. I remember him talking about it during the games and I felt so sad for her. I remember too well my sadness over Kurt Browning in '04. I did actually have tears. I can't imagine what it would have been like to actually be there.

I didn‘t say that her comment was calm and rational. I said I didn‘t mind it when people criticized Liza for exactly this comment while being calm and rational. I didn‘t like her comment either but I can express that without needlessly bashing her or acting like she‘s done the ultimate sin. And what I was so angry about is when someone states that it‘s just “expressing an opinion“ when people personally attack a person on instagram, writing nasty and ugly things to her. With this logic you could say that it was ”just an opinion“ when people went to Sotnikova‘s instagram and attacked her for stealing Yuna’s gold meda after Sochil. That‘s not expressing an opinion or offering criticism! It‘s harrassment. This is what I meant.

Lets just stop all this comments discussion(or at least create a separate thread for it). I think it has close to zero relation to State of Russian Ladies' Skating.

To focus on something positive then: I‘m so proud of Sima! :luv17: That SP is wonderful and it‘s giving me so many Zhenya-vibes while still being in her original style. It‘s wonderful. She still has those bent landings in her jumps that kind of remind me of Stanislava but she‘s landing them! A bit of a problem on the solo jump but the strategy with the longer preparation for the axel seems to work. It‘s still kind of an akward technique but it‘s a lot better already. Overall: Wow! So happy for her. :hap10:

"Quote of the day" award goes to TAT(speaks about Trusova):

the shade! :laugh2:

If TAT throws shade it's funny and everyone is like "oh TAT such a diva LOL" but if BOrser says anything that could be interpreted by people who dislike him anyway as throwing shade he's trying to upset Eteri and Alina before test skates to purposefully throw them off their game because he is a bad man.

That's true but in a way with these interviews it seems like Brian in the first place is encouraging these comparisons: "we treat skaters as adults here vs juniors there"

I don't think all these discussions arerelevant, the results are what matter the most: making mistakes at test skates is not end of the world, but doing so at GP or Nationals means losing positions, losing a certain status Evgenia currently has and with too many mistakes it could also mean missing the podium so no access to Europeans and Worlds.

People who hates Evgenia because of the change she did, will start to respect her more if she wins competitions: she is still skating for Russia after all.

When a huge star changes coaches, people are interested in the change and what is different. I'm interested! Fans are interested in how coaching environments differ and how coaches have different approaches. I don't think it's a bad thing.

Results matter less to me. I won't turn on Evgenia (or grow to like Alina) based on their results. Their individual happiness is more important. And as a fan, I care more about performances, programs, and seeing how skaters develop than I care about placements.

And if Evgenia makes mistakes this season - who is to say she wouldn't have made the same mistakes if she stayed with Eteri? Yulia tried to stay with Eteri - it clearly didn't work.
