2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

the 4Lz call was bogus call its fully rotated for sure, but its has been happening since years ago and idk why you guys act like it wad the first time. Sasha was on quarter and now its UR no quarter leeway anymore. Anna's Lutz was ! not clear flutz but not the best lutz, yet she get called on flip which is funny but her toepick technique was a bit rough and not so good imo. (no im not saying about full blade but the actual picking)
The new rule says 1/4 = UR. What was called bordeline last year now is call UR.
Both the Lutz and Flip are flat, they have to choose one to call. Do you want them to give both Flip and Lutz the ! or even e? It is normal they chose the Flip. In fact it is already very lenient to call the Flip only.
 
no it's not. :sarcasm: Even if you really want it to be that way. But it's not.
It's clear inside for flip and a slightly outside for Lz.

it's the same as some users were saying that Sasha's Lz has an "inside" edge.

Since when a quarter have become 40 degrees? Because it was exactly 40-50 digress. not 90.

I beg to differ. Generally, programs in modern figure skating are more beautiful, interesting and exciting. I find competitions nowadays to be much more easy to sit through.

Well I mean it depends. Satoko has beautiful programs and executes them well. Alina has... programs. You cannot tell if they are beautiful because she goes through them like a checklist.

It depends on when you started to watch FS. I restarted since Sochi. For me previous era programs look too empty. Those who followed FS between 2008 and 2014 and are emotionally attached to Yuna and Caro find new style programs too busy.

For me the main problem of the previous school was the combinbation of many crossovers with the preparation for jumps. It took no less than a quarter of the free program time, may be more. I do not count some accompanying arm movement as choreo in that case. When jumps come out of transitions and are immediately followed by transitions (the embodiment of it is Zhenya's 3Lo) that makes a very different impression.

Silver: Anastasia Tarakanova

And on Monday and Tuesday, the ladies compete at the first stage of the Russian Cup!

yep, it is amazing when a skater is doing steps and then suddenly there is a jump, instead of a "ohhh jump setup, now she will glide through all the rink, 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1, jump, oh damn she popped it"

Hm...I started to watch the FS in 70's (;) :laugh:) .. since I remember! I was very little girl! I see the differences in FS and I like the TRs, too but I don't like the too busy programs. There are TRs wich arent connect with the music, the style and character of music. The skaters do it because they want to increase the TR points. I'm just saying this. And this is not against to any skater!
In my opinion the pair skating was more beautiful in the old years ( I know that is more difficult now) and the ice dance was more enjoyable to watch,too, because there was much more freedom in programs. The programs were very different from each other you didn't see many similarities in the moves, etc. I could enjoy the weaker dance pairs' programs because they were playful, there were more dances! in the programs even if they weren't too strong technicly. In this era the weaker dancers are fighting with the elements, worse to watch! I used to watch the top 6-8 pairs only.

I agree that ice dance and pair today look less free than in the past.

Well I thorougly enjoyed the explosive, triumphant character of Alina's DQ. Which by the way benefitted immensly from Alina's energy when she was in her full force (Euros, Olympics) Also,it's odd that you put Alina and Satton against each other since both of them have very intricate programs and both are very meticulous skaters. I also don't understand why you can't judge the program quality if the skater isn't super emotional. I mean, choreography, transitions, music, "plot" progression is still there.

As to my previous point - just imagine DQ, memoirs of a Geisha, Anna Karenina, Skyfall being an expected norm at the competitions ten years ago.

What about V/T, S/H, and S/M? I think they are big time artists. No less imo that R/Z were. In fact I cannot take now their prorams very seriously although medal wise they are all time best.

The flips look good to me. Both slight inside. The lutzes though were pretty flat, so !. I don't think any of her jumps would have gotten an e call though. But it just shows the caller's mistakes because they gave the call to the wrong jumps

Not quite, but I can add it to the OP. Currently we just have medals per comp. I'll add it now :)
 
I don't know for me Imagine Dragons and figure skating are not exactly a great fit.

(about Tarakanova) I've to say though, she looks a senior skater now, you can see more maturity especially in the short program
