Now I wonder if Pogo is even capable of coming back to national team...

It's not just that but also how much your coach believe in a long lasting career and how much Anna wants it, cause nowadays it's so easy for russian coaches to say "oh you aren't good enough" or simply "i have 2-3 girls in juniors that are much better than you, i should work on them more".

I don't know how much it is related to the competition in juniors but for example in SPB you have coaches like Mishin who supported Liza for many years (and in general he has always preferred coaching long lasting skaters), Rukavicin with Leonova and Chebotareva also seems to like more mature skaters, she kept Stasya in juniors until she was 18.

What makes Figure Skating such an intriguing and interisting sport is the fact that it is so unpredictable. Whou would've thought that Sima Sakhanovich would earn almost 40 SP TES at a B event?

It is so easy to write everybody off. It is so pleasing to see faded stars regain brighness.

I hope that Sam-Skwantch, Sabinfire and whover else remembers Sima here are happy.

Nice to see Sima get +4/+5 for her 3Lz+3T. She did rippnos on both jumps :agree:

I just hope that the judges didn't forget about arm variations no longer being a GOE factor and the the score is fair.

I think Sima really deserves to be at Russian Nationals for the good results she has shown so far this season. Her lutz looked like an ! more than a blatant e today, too. Her flip was huge! Isn‘t there any way for her to get to compete at Nationals even though she didn‘t qualify through Russian Cup Events?

Last year, Alisa Fedichkina didn't qualify to Nationals due to her placement in the Russian Cup events and her one JGP assignment, but the Fed invited her to nationals anyway. There's hope that they might do the same for Sima this year, but it's a shot in the dark as it means they'd have to give her a spot that another skater has already earned through qualification.

I am afraid - no. The only way would be if couple of skaters withdraws - which is nearly impossible. On other hand, realistically speaking, it's also impossible for her even in perfect form to earn her place in EU/Worlds team - considering all usual politicking and artificial judging at nationals where all favorites are determined long before the event. So, why bother? It's more important for her to get high enough international best score to get GP spots next season.

I think she was at one of the St. Petersburg Cup stages early in the season, and was scheduled to compete at, I want to say the Volvo Cup, but withdrew.

You can say the same thing about 75% of the others who will be there. They don't even need to hold Nationals if you think that way, they could just have the favorites do a closed test skate for the officials and judges.

There‘s one question that needs to be solved at JGPF: Will Sasha regain her title (strong yes) or will Anna somehow manage to take her throne (maybe) AND will Sasha be crazy enough to do a 4Lz-3Lo? (probably not but considering it‘s her we‘re talking about....)

Attempting 4Lz+3Lo worth only for the Wikipedia: who was the 1st? Same correct for other "Circus on ice" like having three (different) quads.
There is not enough JGP concurrency right now again A/T and A/Sh in terms of jumping.

One quad and solid rest of the jumping is enough right now to decide the 1-2 places between those two. The one who will start FP later than other will have an advantage to decide for the required risk.
