She just had an unfortunate assignment at arguably the most stacked GP. That being said, as long as she does not bomb, I see her being on the World team over someone like Glenn even if Glenn ranks higher at Nationals.

There was so much great skating during the SP, I hardly noticed the absence of Karen, Mirai, Ashley, and Gracie. I must admit I don't may much attention to (what I'd call) non-GP skaters so I was pleasantly surprised.
Emmy Ma was wonderful. Her program was really wonderful.
I really liked what Tara said about Bradie st the end of her program. It was obvious all season that she'd been working on her presentation and it was really admirable to see her working so hard, but her SP last night it felt like she found IT. She found her "thing." She was with the music and her movements were good. Nothing was out of place or awkward and everything worked well for her. She was also SO fast and her spins were crazy fast.
I was really happy for Alysa! I hope she has the same success with her long. Such talent and clear passion.
Mariah's SP is choreographed so well and works SO well for her. Her jumps besides the 2nd jump in the combo were good too. Unfortunate mistake but she pushed through the best she could, stayed on her feet, and really performed with her entire body and her heart.
Hannah Harrell was a surprise. I've unfortunately never watched her skating but her jumps were incredible. Those may be some of the most pleasing rippon jumps I've EVER seen. The height and distance, the landings, the air position, all of it. She should've gotten all of the GOE. This is a girl that USFS has to invest in!!! Give her great choreographers and packaging and send her to some Bs to get her more comfortable with competing.
Amber Glenn is someone I knew before hand but I didn't know she had THAT in her. Her SP is incredible and I never realized she has such speed and performance ability. I think the judges were a bit reserved in their judging for her but she still got a pretty good score. I hope she can keep at this level going forward.
Ting and Starr underperformed but that was made up by great skates from other ladies, so I'm upset but not too upset. Hope they can both have a bit of redemption in the FS. Hoping for many more clean skates tonight, please! Although the ladies may not do as well internationally, I've realized the depth in the US ladies is underrated. The SP was truly a treat.

Hanna Harrell caught my attention yesterday. Out of curiosity I found she is perhaps half Japanese, because she put her Japanese name (田村 花亜(はなあ)) on her Instagram.

I believe she is. I remember her answering questions on her IG story awhile ago and I think she said she has a house there or something along those lines.
Of course BOW is highest results and point totals as well as (in addition to) number of medals. What else would it be??? We want the skaters with the highest expected score internationally. Mariah's lack of a 3-3 may prevent her from getting 210+, but the scores she have produced internationally have been incredibly consistent, always around 190-200. That will get a respectable position at Worlds, at least around 10th, certainly enough to salvage 2 slots. If we send (whoever else may beat her), we may endanger even 2 spots. I could see someone like Amber Glenn or Hannah Harrell missing the free skate. Even if Mariah totally bombs that will not happen. In any case, this is a moot point because unless she bombs, she will finish podium (probably 3rd).
Ting has a higher ceiling than Mariah, but a much lower floor, so it's probably not smart to send her either. Regardless of the results here, Bradie and Mariah are the only way to guarantee to keep 2 spots.
She is. She confirmed it on a Q&A on instagram. She adorably made friends with the two Japanese skaters at her JGP.

Honestly, the fed was really trying to help Bradie but she let it slip away.
But on a positive note, TING SLAYED IT. Now if only she could have that same fight and focus in BOTH programs.

Bell was so close, sad that she miss her chance but who know what will happened next year? Hopefully she will slay in 4CC and Worlds! Also i guess Ting earned a spot in 4CC? Or they will bypass her and give it to Megan? It's a goof experience for Ting though since that's what she needed. Also Hannah probably will go to JW with Ting? or Izzo? she's the junior nats champ though
Well, now that nationals is over, I trust it's between Ting and Megan...it depends on Junior Worlds. (They also could just send Ting to Jr. Worlds AND Four Continents).
I think the hypothetical Jr. Worlds scenarios at this point will either be Hanna+Ting or Hanna+Gabriella. Hanna should be a shoe-in because she isn't senior-eligible and did the best out of our junior-eligible girls at Nationals and then I imagine it's between them sending Ting to 4CC or not.
is Ting still skating juniors? She did a senior event internationally and very rarely do skaters go back to juniors after that.

I like Alysa, thank goodness she came along, the US badly needs her, but it's a little sad for the US that our champion is someone too young for both senior and junior competition.
A little surprised at Bradie, with the uncharacteristic fall. I think that was the worst freeskate I've seen from her these past two seasons. I wish her program was set up a little better to add a triple toe to a second jumping pass if an earlier attempt fails. The fall wasn't just costly because she fell, but because she didn't attempt the triple toe.

poor Izzo if she didnt sent to JW since she's junior nats champ. But with Hannah and Ting if they skated like that in JW we could earn 3 spot next season. i think they will send Ting and Hannah though, they did assign Starr to 4CC and JW but she WD from JW.

Congratularions to 2019 US National Champion, Alysa Liu. There was an inordinate amount of pressure on her and she rose to the occasion. She is something special indeed.
Mariah skated so well. Dealing with the uproar from the crowd after Liu’s scores could not have been easy. She was a 3Lz away from a national title.

Unsure - I personally think that they sent Ting to get senior minimums in case they needed an alternative option for Worlds since she is age eligible.
I also wonder if they set her up so that she could debut on the senior grand prix next year. Currently, she technically would get a spot since she is #17 on the SB list and the 2nd highest American?
If I was the fed, I would try to get her out to more competitions to give her more experience and maybe improve on her SB. I would also send her to JW because she and Hanna are the best bets to get us 3 spots for next year as well as more spots on the JGP.
