2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

I never understood that. Her three last appearances there followed her Nationals results of 11th, 12th, and 11th.

Which are all higher than Megan Wessenburg's from 2018. And Bell was 11th in 2016 as well. It's clear that other criteria--such as a strong summer season--can be used to select an athlete for SA. In Caroline's case, I would think that two bronze medals at a major international (4CCs) probably made an impression.

Karen looks really good, I hope she can carry this momentum through the rest of the season. Did she do all her combos in the 2nd half of her long?

I'm a bit concerned for starr and will repeat what I have said before- she needs a new coach. Shes been competing 3t+3t for 3 ish seasons and her skating skills are still juniorish to me. I dont think shes made the progress she should have by now.

I just watched Sarah jung do her short program at Philadelphia in the domestic senior. Her skating was probably the most beautiful out of anyone I watched in the event. She earned 53 I think. Her 3Lutz-3T was a bit shaky but she still managed to hang one. The Lutz was so tilted but she still did the triple toe. And she did a wonderful 2A and 3L. And really fast spins and a deep edgy footwork! Go Sarah! !

Sarah is a beautiful and graceful skator in addition to one of the most powerful and consistent triple jumper in the USA currently. She is a natural jumper. She never miss any triple jumps in the practice and competition. Each time she did and landed. She has beautiful arm and body movements. Her beautiful arm and body movement is based on ballete and dance. She has clean long program with 110 with 63 points of TES. Her both Triple lutz/triple toe, and triple flip/half loop/triple salchow in the second half of the program are clean and very powerful. Now, her short program score starts going up. Her short program is stabilized in the competition also. Go Sarah:yahoo:

Sarah jung earned a total of 162 at phileadelphia. She was so powerful today and did a wonderful 3Lutz-3T and a 3F -Eu-3S and earned 110 in the freeskate!! I'm so proud of her. I hope she gets a jgp!

Yes, She is the 1st place.:laugh2: I hope she is assigned early JGP!!!

Just from a quick glance, it appears that her PCS scores are below the juniors-high 5's- which is very low. On the other hand, even Karen and Young You seemed to be underscored as well. I wouldn't assume it is a coaching issue, Starr looks as if she has been off the ice for a long time-perhaps she has had an injury or some other issue?

I think that was her planned content. She went for 3Lz3T in the 2nd half but fell on the Lutz so she only had 2 combos? She had a great performance but lost so many points by falling on the Lutz getting -5, +REP, and no 3rd combo. Her first Lutz went fine, so maybe she was just trying it out.

I hope she moves the 3Lz+3T to the first half. Given her history with rotation issues, even though she's doing really well now, it'd be much better to do a good combo at the beginning of the program rather than increase the chance of a ur and risk a +REP.

Shouldn`t gracie gold be out there doing summer competitions in order to recomand herself for some challagenger assignments? When does she want to start her season? How does she intent do qualify for nationals? Do you guys really think she going to do sectionals? Its strange

Always with athletes that take a year off, I just wait until they actually compete in competition to assume they will be back at all. That way I am pleasantly surprised if and/or when they return.

My surmise would be that if Gracie intends to qualify, should she choose to compete, through Regionals. Which would be at her home rink.:) and then sectionals. I admit I don’t know what qualifications for Regionals are.

Whether or not we would choose for Gracie to take that path. ;)

The only qualification to enter Regionals is to have passed the freeskating test for that level -- in this case, Senior -- and to be a US citizen,* a member of US Figure Skating, and an "eligible person."

*There are some exceptions for non-citizens who meet certain requirements.

Isabeau certainly has a huge persona on the ice and once she gets the 3Lz consistent, she'll probably work on the 3A. Isabeau will be eligible for the Junior Grand Prix next season, but will miss the 2022 Olympics by a few months. Thus far, she's showcased great spins, flexibility, spirals, and a knee-bend that makes her jumps look soft and secure.

Isabeau's planned content in the Free: 3Lz+3T, 3Lz, 3F, 2A / 3Lo+Eu+3S, 3Lo, and 2A+2T

She landed a 3Lz+3T+2T at Broadmoor, but at the North American Cup, she popped the second 3Lz and received a downgrade on the 3T due to the very forward landing of the 3Lz.

Is it just me for has she has grown so much! I haven’t ever seen her fall, but 3Lz is new for her. She’s very strong though to go for that 3Lo+3T

I agree! Idk if I'm imagining things but she seems to be more refined and have more flow. Her triple-triple also looks to be improving.

Forgot to unmute so no audio again... sorry.

Isabeau executed a 3Lz+3T<<, 1Lz, 3F, 2A, 3Lo+3S, 3Lo, and 2A+2T. I believe Isabeau received the highest PCS in both the Short and Long by a large margin (4-5 points higher than the other girls). Her planned layout consists of a 7-triple program in which the 3Lz and 3Lo are repeated.

Also, Alysa competed her junior Short at a local competition and received a score around 72. People who were there said she appeared to be very poised and calm and she skated more to the audience and judges than ever before.

Thanks for posting this! I can already see improvements in Isabeau. As for Alysa, any word on if she did the old Short or the new one?

i am going to assume that if her goal is to compete this year, this is what she will do. i think she and her team want to make sure she is 100% ready physically and mentally (the bigger of the 2 hurdles) before she competes again.

She has a great 2A (especially for a 12? 13? year old) so I wouldn't be surprised if she starts working on 3A in the upcoming years. Since she'll miss 2022 Olys, she has a very long time to get herself prepared assuming her goal is the Olys. I wonder if she will begin competing in Juniors next year, or hold off until maybe the next season. To my unprofessional eye, it definitely seems like her team is working on the right things, so good for them!
