2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

Anyone know the results for the other sectionals? I want to see how Gracie measures up. Holding my breath until after the LP.

Midwestern Sectional Senior Ladies results here.

Paige Rydberg leads with 63.82, Courtney Hicks in second with 59.69.

The Pacific Coast Sectional Senior Ladies SP is ongoing.

Polina Edmunds will skate in the final group.

Just to put that into perspective, that's only 3 points lower than she earned in her free skate at Regionals. She is well on her way. She needs 41.20 tomorrow in addition to maintaining her top 4 standing to advance to Nationals. So very happy to see her skate well.

Well, I was also happy to see that Gracie finally replaced the flip with the loop in the sp. The flip was an unnecessary obstacle and source of anxiety for her.

Just to see how Gracie stacks up against the other ladies...

Senior Ladies' Sectionals Short Program Score
1. E - Emily Zhang, 64.49 (3S+3Lo, 3F, and 2A)
2. P - Paige Rydberg, 63.82 (3F, 3T+3T, and 2A)
3. E - Gracie Gold, 63.55 (3Lz+2T, 3Lo, and 2A)
4. E- Rena Ikenishi, 63.05 (3S+3T, 3F, and 2A)
5. E - Sarah Jung, 62.25 (3Lz+3T<, 2A, and 3F)
6. M - Sierra Venetta, 60.10
7. M - Courtney Hicks, 59.69 (3F+2T, 2A, and 3Lo)

E - Eastern
P - Pacific Coast
M - Midwestern

Gracie has improved by over 12 points from her Regionals score. Best of luck to her and everyone else. This will surely spur her further and could become a sort of mental breakthrough for her.

She should be so proud of herself. I think this was a huge step for her and hopefully a confidence booster. Shes going to need to fight for every point in the long. She can do it, shes come so far. If she makes nationals, I hope she just enjoys herself and feels relief for being done with the most difficult part of qualifying. Go Gracie!!!

Gracie looks so much more improved this time compared to her last outing! Does anyone know if she was going for 3Lz+3T? The wonky lutz landing may have forced her to only do a double toe, but her other jumps don't look scary at all.

The FS will be a true test of her stamina, but her nerves looked to be in check in the SP. With some small competitions this season and more conditioning, she could really make a fierce comeback by next season! :yahoo:

She's been landing 3Lz+3Ts during warm-ups and run-throughs, but has not done so in a competition YET. She will get there, I'm sure. I'm just happy that she was able to produce such a solid skate and show such visible improvements within the timeframe that she had.

It's was nice to see her smile again. So happy for her.:cheer2:

Polina had a bit of a rough go in the SP (3Lo+3T< 3S< fell out, waxel). She is currently 6th with 49.40 so wishing her a strong free. I am not sure if she has attained the minimum TES yet.

3-2, but goddamn, Gracie‘s back! Such a strong woman, she had to go through so much, and here she is, proving her doubters wrong! Amazing!!!

Gracie is incredibly brave. To come back from such a dark place and basically start over had to have seemed almost impossible. She is a wonderful role model for other skaters.

It was also lovely to see her smile. It was also great to see the fire in her short- when she landed that wonky lutz you could tell she was basically like “not today!”.

She is the bravest skater I’ve ever seen. It’s not like coming back from an injury. And then to be so incredibly open about it. I hope the card USFS sent her when I gave money to the Memorial fund made her happy. And the stuffie and card I left at Iceworks for her. And y’all her long program is great. I hope she keeps it for next year.

Congratulations to Mariah Bell on her second Grand Prix medal of the season and third overall. Mariah will probably be sent to another Challenger event before Nationals, maybe taking the place of Bradie Tennell at Golden Spin. Talking about Bradie, with the way things unraveled at Rostelecom, I think she now qualifies for the Grand Prix Final, the very first US lady to do so since Ashley Wagner in 2015. Mariah STILL has a chance to go to the Final if Rika or Alina place lower than fourth.

So proud of Mariah Bell for taking the Bronze Medal in Russia. Such a deep field and she really proved herself yet again. Since Satoko finished 4th, does that mean Bradie is in the GPF?
